 Good luck grinding the grindstone!!

BTW..before you start, I suggest you wash it and try to suck on it first. If I'm not mistaken it will be too dense to suck any air through it..If air can't get through, what more liquids..

I've manage to make 2 wicks from this stone.. It can wick but not fast enough.. Even tilting the tank the wick will dry out quickly.. It doesn't wick as fast as fish stone.. Still need to find those fish stone..

I've 3 different set up side by side compared for week now. One with .5mm ribbon kanthal 4 wraps on solid fishwick, another one with 30g kanthal D 5 wraps on straw fishwick and the other with 30g kanthal D also 5 wraps on solid fishwick. All of them same juice(Dragon Breath Butternilla). Well, I found .5mm ribbon was like what you said, flavor little muted especially when chain vape... heat up slow, but hazy vapor. 30g on solid fishwick seem the same... also flavor goes mute too if chain vape, taste like burning stone. Wait while it cools down a bit, the flavor back again. Vapor hazy too. But straw fishwick looked like winner, heat up a bit faster than the other two. Maybe less "heat sink" cause of the hole in the middle of the wick. Another good news, it has more throat hit! Funny... that I can't explain liao... Flavor will goes mute too if chain vape, but took longer times to go mute! It does cool down faster too. Wicking ability doesn't see much different for all three. I think I have to get busy making more straw fishwick...:D

Oh dear...means I gotta stock up on 30g Kanthal too now..hmm..straw fishwicks  wondering how to do that on my <2mm wicks! I may have to consider going back to SS wicks..

If you wanna learn more about DIY juice, I'm the wrong guy you're looking for... maybe I'm dull when come up with calculating... LOL! I mostly buy Hangsen VG base(100%VG maybe) 12mg juice, then diluted it with unflavored PG... Example, I bought a 50ml 12mg Hangsen VG base(Rm40/bottle), then added it with 75ml of unflavored PG(Rm15/bottle). So, it become 125ml 4.8mg 60%PG/40%VG, enough for my 2 weeks vape. And flavor is still strong cause VG base has more flavor added. That's also saved lot of money too. :D
If you wanna learn DIY juice, try go to http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/malaysia-forum/375100-how-diy-yr-own-e-liquids.html. Try ask Mr. Mafig, he is our best DIY Shifu. And btw, go download free e-Juice Me Up at ejuice.breaktru.com, very helpful and easy to use software ever!

I have watched the link for a while now, and have the ejuice calc too. Waiting for my PG, VG and nic order to arrive. But the only flavors I've found so far are from bakery shops. Do you use that, or do you buy flavor concentrates from TPA, FA, Capella etc? What % do you use if you are using bakery shop flavorings? Around 20%? Do you use sweeteners?

Hehe nice.. Thanks :) .. How many wicks can it make with half of the stone..?

I don't know! Using about 1/3 of the stone on the right I've made about 4 or 5 stones so far? then again that depends on your dremel. I'm using an angle grinder that takes away about 1.5mm with every cut so losses are more..I was also cutting huge wasteful blocks in the beginning since I wasn't sure how small I could go without shattering the wick blanks.. (about 5 mm size/ blank is possible). It's also 1 cm thick so 2 wicks per blank may also be possible (but not with my angle grinder..)

I didn't drill through on 2 or 3mm fishwick. I drilled before grind the wick in shape. Try find 1mm diamond coated drill bit or just order from thk.hk(they deliver via poslaju). Before grinding in shape, cut the wick length as your desire. Drill the hole first. Then insert a long needle in the hole. Or long bamboo stick from Satay, shape it until it fits in the hole. Then hold the needle or bamboo stick and grind the wick diameter your want.

Btw, another new found. I found rougher air stone does wick better, more throat hit. The large air stone I bought few weeks ago in my post #90 has better wicking ability and take longer time to clog up, its porous is slightly larger than my previous light grey one.

Left is my previous light grey fishwick.. See the porous is slightly larger?

The only problem is too difficult to grind it in shape! It's too brittle and keep breaking while grinding it almost in shape...

Yes, I did used the flavors from bakery supplies before. But I seldom use them now... And yes it's around 20%, and some needed up to 30% to my desire. Due to lot of flavor, it'll gunk up the coil faster, that's why I don't like it... And sweetener even faster, anyway I don't like sweet taste in my juice. Now I only use the flavors I bought from Health Cabin. 2% to 5% is hell lot already, crystal clear juice, saved me lot of time to clean the coil and wick. And with that 3-4 drops, saved me ton of money too!:D

Btw, I really really love the odor of Italy Cheese from Health Cabin. Cheese! Love cheese! Weird huh? :D:D:D

I wonder if this same with the one I bought.. It's fragile, darker color compare with your wick.. Did you found the white air stones yet..?

Sure...I'm in Sri Petaling / Bukit Jalil/ OUG area...

Oh.. anyone want to go into business making fishwicks? This thing caught my eye. Go watch the video!

Hmm... Nice stuff! But unfortunately, the max diameter of the drill bit only hold up to 6.5mm... I need up to 13mm. Wonder can the change a larger drill chuck?

Today while went to visit my friend's hardware store for a new grinding wheel for replace my old bench grinder grinding stone. And found something really interesting! Not even a better grinding wheel, but also found something great for wicking! :D

Here they are, a 120 grit resin diamond grinding wheel and a 60 grit white corundum(aka white aluminium oxide) cup style grinding wheel.
IMG_1747_zps4b76422a.jpg

And I'm going to cut and shape this! :D
IMG_1738_zps9706d6e9.jpg

IMG_1739_zps977c2918.jpg

Googled Quanying Abrasives MFG. Co. LTD on the sticker and found its website. There's reference of their grinding wheel materials used, Grinding Wheel Reference. From the sticker the product code is "WA60L", "WA" is white corundum, 60 for grain size, probably 60 grit and "L" for hardness...

If talking about safety... According to what I know, Corundum is a name for aluminum oxide in mineral form. FC2000 is aluminium oxide, only its color is dark grey... And this grinding wheel, from its manufacture reference it is white corundum. Googling... I found 2 MSDS(Material Safety Data Sheet) of it:
http://www.msds.riotintoalcan.com/MSDS/fiches.nsf/FicheWebF/E125AD264DDF5D8585257A710052AD70/$file/FS000339NAEN20120730.pdf
and this:
http://www.agp-abrasifs.com/pdfs/securite_229_en.pdf
After read paragraph 11 - Toxicological Information, I'm going to use it!:w00t:

And the porousness, it looked very similar to FC2000... maybe finer... can't tell actually cause it's too WHITE!
Here a pic compare to FC2000...
IMG_1745_zps4c478443.jpg

Tested its absorbing ability... WOW! Amazing fast! But don't know yet if it shaped in 3mm diameter rod...
Here the video of testing...

Don't have time to cut and shape it yet... Once I'm done I'll update here...

Ask and you shall receive! I get first dibs on the commercial results ok? Maybe we go into business selling fishwicks! :D
Watch out, please don't talk about selling here. Moderators are watching... We don't want this thread get delete or closed, right? See what I got a warning here... We just share what materials to use and how to DIYing lah. :D

Yes, I have one exactly like this one. 8 years old already and there's problem with its bearing for over a year... and still too lazy to repair it.

Btw, I bought only Rm270 from my friend who owned a hardware store. :D

Good stuff.. I ran out of ceramics its so frustrating going back to ss.. Althought setup is alright but after getting d feel on d ceramici'd only love to go with ceramics.. Sourcing for a 3/32.. :D

Eh? Not yet drill your AGA-T+? Get the 1/8" for less breakage issue.

Btw, I heard there's new FC2000 come with tiny 3 grooves added on the side of the wick for better wicking and vapor production...
Ok just got off the phone with the creator of the FC2000, he asked me to try somthing they are doing. They have a new jig made that will put 3 .020 thousand grooves down the side of the wick during production so it looks like this:

FlowerWick_zps4fd70cc2.jpg

Now, he said this improves the wicking and vapor production capability of the wick immesely. So I have a 9/64 wick sitting here I am gonna try this on. Just passing the love and intersted to see what the fish wick does with this mod. So if anyone want to give this a go and report back here I would appreciate it.
Dan

And this is Dan's DIY grooved wick.
Ok got my 9/64" wick modified:
IMG_0881_zpsd484a2c3.jpg

IMG_0882_zpsb1025b89.jpg

Just drilled out my new AGA-T to 9/64, so I will set this up and see how she works.
Dan

But from my view I think it's similar to rougher ceramic with bigger porous. I have used it(rougher one) over a week, it's hell hazy cloudy vapor! One puff, I can't see my laptop keypad... Sometime I have to stop tilting my device, too cloudy and wet vapor with smooth throat hit. Love it! :D

Here the picture of the rougher air stone with bigger porous.
IMG_1750_zpsd2783109.jpg

And under magnifying glass compared with FC2000. (left one is FC2000)
IMG_1753_zps13ea34c7.jpg

The only problem is it's too fragile... need to be very careful while hot wrap and install it. Going to try the white corundum soon, hope there's good result come out better than all the previous wicks.

Wow...! Just tried the channeled fishwick, it's really improved a lot! Wick better, cloudy vapor and more flavor fragrant! However... I was right, similar to my bigger porous fishwick. :D
But it's good to do(make grooves) on finer air stone which is much more durable since my bigger porous air stone is too too brittle.

Here my channeled fishwick I just made 4 hours ago.

Nice one bro.. How many channel / grooves did you make for the wick..? 3 or 2 or 1..? I would like to try this to my grind stone wick :D .. So did you already test the white wick from the grinding wheel..?
