I don't understand this either.

In this economy there are surely people who need jobs. Since most of juice mixing, once you have a recipe, is somewhat automated with equipment now (squirts the recipe into bottle in correct levels) you just need a few workers and a few people in your shipping department.

I guess it's up to them whether they want to grow to their demand though. But 2-3 people businesses in ejuice company doesn't work anymore, not if you're on the map and actually get a lot of orders.

What I've seen in this growing biz, there are new names entering the fray daily, you make it the least bit difficult for your customers to order, they start going elsewhere. That's just where it's going right now. There is always somebody else moving in to take your place since the growth prospects are huge in ejuice over next few years.

I think AiV is fun and quirky.
Granted I may forget to place an order on Tuesday even if I really wanted to...but, that's how they choose to run there business and it seems to be working for them.

I think their products are worth a try, and the packaging makes for a extra fun vapemail day.

I thought businesses usually go in business to make money not to demonstrate integrity....

How can a business stay in business without any kind of integrity? 8-o This is their preferred business model. That's why people choose to be self-employed. So people like you can't tell them how to run it. :D

But who do you really think pays those employees? :)

not trying to tell them how to run I just saying I've never seen anything like it where they don't let you place orders except on a certain day. maybe they don't care about making money but it seems like a stupid decision on their end IMO

My guess is that they take their single day's worth of orders then mix and ship at full capacity for the rest of the week. I don't know all the details, but I think expanding capacity is much more difficult (or risky) than it seems. If you live in a big city, you probably know of a few small restaurants or bars that always have a long wait to get in. These places could get more business if they opened more locations or expanded their current location, but they usually don't.

I think that the type of people who start a small business and are passionate about their products, making something that everyone seems to want, are generally not the type of people who are aggressive and knowledgeable in terms of running a business. Either that or they just don't want to make any more money and get rich(er). The ones that are good at everything end up as leaders in the industry and exceedingly wealthy, perhaps transforming and expanding the industry itself. Go too far with this and the original talent that made the business so popular in the first place may get diluted to the point where the products aren't nearly as good anymore, since the focus shifts to "profits are all that matter". This is a bit of a stretch for an e-liquid company right now, but I think the basic concepts are relevant.

yeah its just strange to run into this never saw it from any other e liquid vendor I ordered from I think they just suck at running the business and are lazy it's kinda ... backwards.. not to say their liquids aren't top notch but this is definitely no way to run a business... not online anyway for sure

I think it's a heck of a lot smarter way to run a business than the vendors that have had to shut down b/c they had orders sitting for over a month that they weren't able to fill.

From AiVs FAQ

Q: Why can’t I order? Why are you always closed?

A: We open every Tuesday at 10:59pm EST and stay open about 12~24 hours. We know it’s very frustrating that we are closed so much and we know it is very difficult for busy folk to order when we are open so briefly every week. We understand and we thank you dearly for your patience and understanding! We just can’t take on too many orders, or we would not be able to ship everyone their vapemails in good time.

We’ve grown a lot since our opening, and have chosen to expand at a slower rate to make certain our quality remains. We continue to grow slowly on a regular basis, but good growth does not happen overnight. Everyone in the Mushroom Lab is handpicked, trained with absolute scrutiny, treasured and devoted to bringing you lovely bits of wonder!

We started Alice in Vapeland as a collective of creative, passionate folks who want to bring you delicious delights to brighten your day. This is our mission and what we love to do best! We realize that there are a lot of wonderful places you can find great juice. There is something out there for everyone, in so many styles, tastes and colors. Like all committed vendors, we work long hours to ensure we bring you our best. The amount of new vapers is growing exponentially, so many good vendors are overworked right now, trying to accommodate the demand.

We are so thankful for the community who has taught us so much and given us endless love and support along the way. Brick & Mortar shops are so good at bringing people the vape supplies they need right near their home. You might consider contacting your local Brick & Mortar shop to see if they can possibly bring in the brands you like, or even consider helping someone set-up a brick and mortar shop, even if it’s just by sharing your knowledge.

They probably aren't lazy, like any other business that has a capacity issue. What I'm trying to say is they either don't know enough to intelligently expand capacity or they simply don't want to.

To emily n portland's statement: Vendors like Lucky 7 and The Vapor Co were simply TOO aggressive. Essentially biting off more than they could chew. They took a big risk with low pricing and no limitations on orders coming in, and inevitably failed when the slightest thing went wrong. Lucky 7 may still be trying to bounce back and is handling the failure with much more integrity by continuing to ship out orders very slowly (probably mixing and shipping from home) and refunding when asked. TVC simply disappeared off the face of the Earth with a load of unhappy customers' money in their pocket. TVC won't bounce back because they now have the reputation of scammers and thieves. So I definitely agree with you on that.

The fact that they either
1- won't take any more orders than they can handle
Or
2- shut down to give their people a day off without causing people to place an order and think its gonna ship that say or the next

Whatever the case may be it makes me respect them more and perhaps place an order.
I liked the idea of chick4lay being off Sundays. No I don't go to church. if or employees to know they will always be off a certain day is great 23 years in the industry and it was difficult making plans when you didn't know what day you would be off.

As I understand it, Alice is open for a widow of time that is set up to ensure that they do not get more orders than they can ship in a week. I believe it is only a couple of people who create/make the juice. Also, it makes the juice a little "special." And believe me, it is special, up to and including the packaging.
