Then you wouldn't be a happy camper:( The one thing I deal with on a daily basis......(when I'm in the field that is)....then come to think of it...sometimes in the office too:laugh:

Nah, in reality, snakes don't bother me. We lived out in the country and had to learn which were good snakes and bad ones. It was kind of a quote from an Indiana Jones movie. I wondered if anyone would get it.

Now bugs, those are a different story! Blech!

So sorry for all of the troubles last night. :( Our host decided that we have too much traffic and disabled our site. Can you believe that? We hope to have all these issues worked out before next week's opening. Thanks for hanging in there everyone :)

Have a wonderful day! Im off to ship vapemails!

That's an idiotic maneuver, and that's putting it nicely. You're a store, disabling your site causes you to lose money. Who's your provider? If I may ask.

I have a few more I want to order out of there...I think Call Me Vanilla, 15 Foot Falls even though it has tobacco, and Berry Lil' Cheesecake...I am sure I will love Ginger by the Sea and April Moon!

On the main page, I still want to try Sweet Tease, Mystic Mandalime, Frost Blossom, and Afternoon Tea. Also want to try Bandersnatch but a little worried about that and not sure about Orange makes me Creamsicle. I love oranges but was never a Creamsicle fan...Hmmmmm....

I can't wait until it cools off down here and I can enjoy my cups of tea in the evenings! And sometimes during the day. :D

for 15footfalls, I swear you can't taste the tobacco. At least, I don't. I just taste graham crackers and vanilla ice cream.

*sits in the corner with a protein shake and a bowl of oatmeal*

had an unexpected day off today.....wasted it watching cheesy shark movies *Jersey Shore shark attack and Ghost Shark*
Just didn't feel like doing anything else. Started treatment again this week and it's kicking my behind. And a bit sad. Estate sale starts tomorrow. It's a bit upsetting seeing my grandparent's live's with green price stickers on them. I know I am a sentimental sap. Hard knowing that things that have been constants in my life won't be there any more. Have I mentioned I don't do well with change?

Miss Morri I owe you a check in pm.....watch for it soon.

Hi Charmed. Yes, change is very hard. You can't place a price tag on memories. I hope you start feeling better in both body and mind soon. We miss you. You are our Charmed One! Just look forward to the Russian 91%. I swear I won't start tweeting in Russian again. :)

I got the Indiana Jones' reference! :)

I got a 4.0 in Archaeology in college. No one told me there were snakes, though... (not that we ever went on a dig).

Oh my Dear....I'm not Vapeland's JEDI....I'm just a lowly Archaeologist....if it doesn't involve Nazi's, Motorcycles with sidecars, booby traps in Ancient ruins, or rescuing artifacts from the clutches of evil looters and neer do gooders...I'm useless... And come to think of it...that disturbance in the force I sensed could have just been something I ate....

You're an archeologist? Nice! I subscribe to Biblical Archeology Review, and unrelated to archeology, I'm reading Popol Vuh. I want to volunteer for an archeology dig somewhere in the Mediterranean levant before I get too old, but money is a problem. I'd love to Egypt or Israel, or Iraq. I want to see Ur, Uruk, and Nineveh.

Oh, which is your area of specialization?

I was an International Relations major, even worked on my Masters, but they ain't got much use for wommin down here! Just as secretary's, hand to God! I was even a Grad Assistant. I can teach you about the countries before you go, I took quite a few Middle Eastern courses.

Of course, I thought it was bad before I was disabled! Now I have 2 strikes, couldn't get hired without getting fired for being disabled. No lie, has happened 5-6 times! I was about to go to school and get my masters in Therapy. Not occupational, but to where I get my therapist's license! I miss academia and smart people.

*yes, the grammar at the beginning was intentional. Not all of Louisiana is bad by any stretch of the imagination, but the town I'm in now...Yikes! I never wanted to move back here after I graduated high school. Then I got hurt. One accident folks, that's all it takes! And never have insurance with Progressive!! This has been a Fancy Public Service Announcement." :p

Sweet! I wasn't sure, I have an almost photographic memory. I can quote all kinds of things. So watch out!

And they never tell you the bad stuff in college, LOL! Or maybe they do, but I was having too much fun to remember! :toast:
And I made Dean's List consistently. I never had to study very much. Ticked my friends off, lol! Once again, not bragging!

OOh, another with Masters degree. Mine is in Comparative Literature and Spanish, so I'm not prepared to go to the Middle East. Unless for some reason everyone there decided to speak Spanish and only write in Arabic. :)

I've been reading Mythology since I was a kid, and I was always drawn to Egyptian, Babylonian, and Canaanite myths. I started reading Samuel Noah Kramer's books on Sumerian culture in grad school and could not put those books down. That's when I decided I really needed to head over there and see those cities in person, if anything remains of them now. But I'm getting older, not much money (well, I guess I can cut down on vaping and 3d stuff), so I need to do something about it. Oh, yeah, and I also read Dune. That's about the Middle East, right? :)

I once wanted to volunteer for a dig (or the Peace Corps) after retirement. I don't think so now that I know about snakes.

Snakes aren't everywhere. Well, I guess in many parts of the world, but not everywhere. But where I want to go I guess that might be a problem. Doesn't the Peace Corps take fresh out of college people? I thought they didn't want us old' uns. Or am I wrong?

I thought I read of people joining the Peace Corps in their retirement and that's where I got the idea, but I don't know for certain. I don't want to do that anymore, though. That was a young person's "will never get old" dream. ;)

I'm having trouble replying with quotes, but I just wanted to say that I love mythology in general too and loved Gilgamesh. That's as far into Sumerian culture I go.

LOL! The Middle East mindset is just so completely different from ours. I could go on for hours, but the bed time stories that they read they're children involve one character, whose name escapes me, and he does all kinds of bad things. The moral: it's okay as long as you don't get caught! And people wonder why American Foreign Policy sucks so badly, you can't take our norms and morals and aplly them to a completely different way of thinking and go, oh gosh, they should be grateful! I took a class where we pretty much just read books about why we should or should not go to war in Iraq. My vote was no for several reasons, but you have 3 factions that absolutely hate each other. How the heck were we going to get out of there? But anyways...I miss intelligent conversation. Don't get much of that down here. Not in this area. Oh God, these people disgust me, seriously, I have never seen such ugliness and prejudice. The girl who works here last week was upset because they interrupted her SOAP OPERA for the President's address about the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. What she actually said, in an ugly tone was I can't believe they interrupted my soap opera for THAT. Then gestured at the screen and President Obama! She knew NOTHING about Martin Luther King's Speech, the March on Washington or Martin Luther King Jr. AT ALL! She hates black people because they're black and uses the ...... until I said oh hell no, you need to stop acting like an ignorant little *%#@*! I'm white and thank God my mom is from San Francisco and I grew up better than most people down here, education wise. You never said the ...... in our house. Sorry, rant over/. Been dying to get that one out for a while. I just couldn't believe it!

My Middle Eastern Prof lived in Turkey for almost 20 years. I hear the UAE is beautiful and my parents said Kuwait is very nice!

Turkey, there's another country I want to visit. I want to see the Hagia Sophia and the Bosphoros. And the place where Schlimann dug claiming that it was Troy. Which probably wasn't. The closest I got to Turkey was Greece. Then to Knossos and to see the Labyrinth. :)

I love Gilgamesh. I read it twice, the Penguin Books translation then the one done by John Gardner (not the James Bond novelist, but of Grendel & the Sunlight Dialogues) and a Sumerian scholar whose name I forget. I loved that translation because it was full of annotations which explained a lot of the story given the context it was written in. The book also explained how Gilgamesh appears in the Sumerian King List, making him a Sumerian King and not a Babylonian king as was thought before the first Sumerian tablets were found.

And to get back to topic. I love AiV!

I once traveled to Hyderabad India for a month when I worked for GE. I loved it and hope to be able to return and see more of the county. I handled the culture shock well, alas most of them with me were afraid to immerse themselves and followed all the silly rules we were given (no street food, always have 2 local guides, stay way from bazaars, dont wander, dont give to those begging ect). And yes I loved the monkeys that were as common as dogs:D

Beam me up, AiV!

Since you're online, need to ask: steeping times? Cherie Pie said 'Twas Brillig is good OOB, as well as Black & White Cookie although 'Twas Billig gets better as you go. Same with Ginger by the Sea as 'Twas Brillig. I know White Rabbit and A Quiet Morning need steeping times. What about Zombie Apocalypse, Cupcake City, Cherry Blossom Tea, April Moon, Crunkberry Berry, Lemon Loves Cake and Punkin Tumble?

Also, thoughts on Bandersnatch? Curious about it because I do like Bananas  but am a little concerned. Thinking my next order may have to include more White Rabbit, Lemon Loves Cake and Punkin Tumble as well as a few others? Maybe the little Sample Pack?
