"All-purpose" Kanthal gauge?

I know there isn't really an all-purpose/best gauge when it comes to Kanthal, but if were given the option to only use one gauge which would it be? Most of the guys at my local shop rebuild with 30 gauge, I tend to alternate between 30 and 32.

I'd vote 32 as it is easier to work with.

30! The only thing I use 32 for is silica wicks on BCC coils.. and then days I lean towards microcoils with cotton on those and use 30

I have 28, 30, and 32. I had to buy more 30, and still have plenty of 28 and 32.

Depends on what you are working with. I think for small devices 30 or 32 would be best. Been a while since I did that. I know for my gennies 27 is best. I suspect going for a middle ground here would make both sides suffer.

I like 30. It is kinda the jack of all trades and master of none wire. If you want to wrap a sub ohm coil you can. If you want to wrap a 1.5 ohm coil you can.

Basically you can wrap a coil that performs well on a mech or a vv device with ease.

I'm finding 30 is a good all-purpose gauge to give you the benefits of rebuilding, i.e. it is a larger gauge than most stock coils. However it is small enough that you can put enough of it in even small heads to get resistance up.

You can also twist it to make a wider gauge if needed.

28 for mechs and 30-32 for regulated Mods.

I like 28 and 30. I don't use the 28 as much because the coils get to be a bit to big for small chamber atties at the resistance I like, but I do run it where I can. 30 gets the job done in everything I rebuild--my go-to wire gauge.
