Now my wife, after much shooting practice, and training can shoot a shotgun quite well. She was even shooting skeet with a 20" pistol gripped 20 gauge, very well mind you! I've suggested getting a smaller gauge shotgun for many home owners, including women. NO, it's not the end all beat all, and no it's not best for everyone. Other times I suggest a .38/.357 revolver, and yet other, a semi-auto. It depends on the person, how much the want to learn, how familiar they are with guns and how familiar they want to get with guns!
I don't think it was a terrible suggestion, about any predator knows the sound of a pump shotgun racking the slide and most times that's enough to end the situation! But anymore, predators are getting more and more brazen!
Then we have to get into the logistics of whether or not a person can/could actually pull the trigger if needed. I've run into many cases where either they admitted they couldn't, or weren't sure they could. Both cases, don't get a gun! If they have even the slightest doubt, that gun WILL be used against them and in at least one more crime.
I assure you, I'm not a Biden fan, I don't much care for any politician any more in fact! But there are many shotguns that are made specifically for home defense, so I can't say it was completely bad advice.

This should probably be moved to "The Outside".

That's what Joe told Jill. What if 'they' are in da inside?

What, no gun common sense in da Lounge?

BTW, my semi-disabled bride can't handle a shotgun... BUT, she sure can 'rock & roll' with my AR-15 with a 100rd Beta Mag!!!!

And there you go! There is no "end all beat all, one size fits all gun" for everyone, same as vaping!

I can guarantee you that ;Uncle' Joe's SS agents are NOT toting any double barreled shotguns!

Tactically speaking, he has NO concept of viable and effective self protection.

While I understand where you are coming from, and I assure you I have the means to accomplish the same, I don't think that is what the intent was.
In a "standard burglary" a shotgun is quite effective, if the person using it is trained.
In the "light" you are trying to put it under, well, I certainly wouldn't put mine, and my families well being at stake with that weak round.
