Hello everyone,

Today has been I year since I stopped smoking and started vaping. I would like to thank my youngest son Matthew because he was the one who got me started. He purchased the starter kit and helped my wife and myself with our units when something didn't work, until I could do it myself, he even picked up our juice on occasion when we were to busy. He has helped others in the family as well, people at work and even strangers on the street with information about vaping. I have tried to follow his example and be an advocate for vaping as well.

In the last couple of days i have started gathering everything I am going to need to start building my own coils, I am just waiting for a Micro Puck Jig. I have been reading a lot on this forum about people who make their own ejuice and decided I am going to make my own as well. This forum contains a wealth of information on everything to do with vaping and I am thankful I went looking for answers and stumbled on it. I have a question that may seem trivial but I will ask it anyway.

When you buy your PG, VG and Nicotine in bulk does anyone use smaller bottles of each ( pouring from the bulk container) when mixing your e juice. I am going to be using syringes and they are certainly not long enough to extract the liquid after a length of time has passed. If the answer is yes is there a DYI store online that sells the right size to work with a syringe.

thanks :)

I just started getting into DIY juice. I bought a starter kit from Nude Nicotine that has all the tools and starter bottles of liquids.

I've read here that starter kits aren't the most economical way to start but I wanted the least amount of decision making as possible so it was good for me.

I know what you are talking about when it comes to the syringe needles being too short when the bottles start running low. The only suggestion I can give is to buy some empty bottles and transfer your liquids into them. It's a good idea anyway because nicotine degrades after awhile and freezing it helps to prolong it's life. If it's in small bottles, you can thaw what you need as you need it.

Wizard Labs has everything needed for juice making. There are others, I mentioned Nude Nicotine. That's where I bought from first and they have a flavoring called Apple Pie A la Mode that I really like so I just ordered a bottle of that. Shipping was high though so Wizard Labs might be cheaper. I have some flavorings from Wizard but haven't tried any yet.

Also, Walmart sells USP grade VG in the pharmacy.

Hi,

What I do is buy 100 mg Nic in one liter bottles from RTSVapes ($50 per liter!) and then decant it into smaller 120 ml bottles. Keep the extra bottles either in the freezer or fridge until needed. Nic solution as well as both VG and PG do NOT freeze--they just thicken and contract.

To extract from the 120 ml bottles is much easier using a syringe..you do have to tilt the bottle once the level's down a bit but that's easy with practice.

Especially when starting out it's a good idea to do your mixing over a flat baking sheet so if you do have an "oops" it's contained on the sheet and can be syringed up and the sheet washed.

BTW..Tractor Supply sells a good selection of syringes and points extremely cheap...just take an emery board or fine sandpaper to the pointy bits to take the edge off and you are good to go!

Totally Wicked has been my one stop shop. ON one of there Yo-Yo sales I got 38% off 5, 100ml bottles of Platinum Ice and 40 20ml flavors of Gold Standard. I got the NOW Products Pure VG from the local Herb Store for $6, 16oz. I'm set for life. Oh....and get the facts. Not rumors and myths.
Rate of degradation.
Nicotine in PG solution is noted to be stable at room temperature (20°C) when exposed to air and (indirect) sunlight for up to 2 months with only a 2.1% drop in concentration.

This indicates that an open container of Nic/PG base at 54mg would degrade to approximately 52.8mg.
An open container of PG e-liquid at 18mg would degrade to approximately 17.5mg.

Similar minimal degradation (2%) is noted to have occurred after storage in a domestic freezer for around 18 months.
(I only have one source for this, numerous others all appear to cite or plagiarise the original).

Various tests carried out at 40-80°C for up to 20 days appear to show no degradation of Nicotine in PG within a sealed container.

Breakdown of the chemical structure of Nicotine is noted to begin at approximately 300°C in an oxidising environment.

Dan, congratulations on your 1 year smoke free anniversary. You deserve to be proud of the accomplishment, as well as your son Matthew.

I have pipettes to use when a blunt tip syringe is not the best option. I also added a small, thin plastic Norpro brand funnel to my DIY supplies.

Off to Bull City Vapor to do some flavor shopping.
