Looking at buying my 1st starter kit. Since my hubby is going to be quitting smoking and start vaping, I have been looking at The Vapor Room products. Thier kits seem to provide 2 ecigs. Would you guys recommend the tanks or the cartridges? It appears that the 510 would be too small for our needs compared to the ego. Also, do you know if you have to use a new tank every time you refill, since you have to pierce to tank?

Check out the Kgo;
KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit
SLB KGO Starter Kit

Similar to the Ego but at a higher voltage and larger batteries. (and less expensive too)
For starters the atty/ cartridges are OK. But for a real increase try cartos. They hold more liquid so they last longer and give more consistent hits. Tanks would come later, once you've found a few flavors you really like. Tanks can be refilled a few times before you need a new carto.

Their prices seem on the high side. Good idea on your part to get a better battery model over the mini battery models. But there are many reputable sites that offer similar but better models, IMO, to the eGo. Also many sites with better prices on the eGo.

The eGo is only a 3.4 volt model. I would consider getting a model that is the same size as the eGo but are 3.7 volt models. And in the case of the E-Power 510, it's more powerful batteries only cost around $4 to replace unlike the eGo batteries that cost $15+ to replace. I would suggest you look at the E-Power 510, the Kgo or the Riva 510 from these well supported on ECF, suppliers:

e-Power

KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

Crystal Clear Vaping

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

Good Luck

Hi there!

I have both the tanks and cartomizers, so I'll talk to those.

Tanks can be reused -- just pop the top, wash it out, and refill. The hole does get torn a bit after a while, but there are replacement caps you can get for like 39 cents.

I personally prefer cartomizers. These are atomizers and cartridges built into one unit. That's nice because they're like $6-$8 for a pack of five, so if they last a while, great, but if they don't, it's no big loss. I fill up a couple of cartomizers with different flavors and nic strengths (like a tobacco/coffee blend at 18mg in the morning, a green tea 12mg during the day, and 8mg tobacco flavor at night). Very customizable and less messy than using atomizers and cartridges separately.

I really like Boge 510 LR (2.0 ohm) cartomizers. I'd recommend you get that starter kit plus a box or two of cartomizers, so you can try both methods. Make sure you get some 5ml samplers of different e-liquid flavors, too! Buy from one of the links posted above, and you'll probably save enough money to add cartomizers and some juice for what you would have paid from the other place.

Tanks are reusable and they do sell the little silicone covers that the atty pierces on first insert. That said I have not had great experience with the Ego tank systems. The flavors are kind of muted as you are drawing the vapor through the cool pool of juice. Stiff draw, low flavor and pretty minimal vapor. Going to second the suggestion of using cartos to start and skipping the tanks. They are not bad, less hassle than carts, but they are inferior to cartomizers.

Wow definitely cheaper...but outta stock...Ill check that model at other sites. Thank you!!

Yeah, lots of us have been steering folks towards these as we feel they are a better product then the Ego. I'm sure they'll have more in stock soon. I don't know if they really expected all the 'free' advertisement they're getting from us on the New Members forum.

The E-Power is still available from Madvapes, as is the Kgo from Hoosier. (though it's only available in chrome).
CCV is currently offline due to legal issues.

I don't recommend tanks. I definitely don't recommend tanks to new vapors. An ego is a great and inexpensive way to start vaping. Personally, I've never noticed the .3 voltage difference vaping and my Joye batteries lasted longer than any batteries I've owned. Joye ego, Riva, KGO, Echo-E are all great kits to own. You can't go wrong with any of them. Pick up a box of boge 2.0 cartomizer and juice and you're good to go.

You can get a basic Riva from Liberty Flights for about $30. The bigger battery, higher voltage models for about $10 more. You can always pick up extra batteries fairly cheap. Vapor God has 1100 mah Riva batteries for $12.99. (The charger for the kgo and echo-e aren't interchangeable with the other ego models)

If budget is an issue, get the Riva. If you can spring for the extra $10 or so, I'd get the bigger battery, higher voltage model. I'm not sure about the KGO but the echo-e is 4.2 volts.

The problem with the KGO if it is a problem is that you're locked into using that charger on those batteries.

I'm comfortable recommending the ego to people. I know how they perform and how long the better batteries last. I have no idea how long KGO batteries last or even my echo-E batteries. They haven't been out as long.
I have a joye ego battery from the first starter kit I got that's still working. Two of my Riva batteries went through a meltdown right before they died and the three batteries I got at MV lasted about 3 months.

If you're thinking about tanks these seem to be a good deal when you add everything up Ego Dual Coil Cartomizer Tank Kit I'm thinking of getting this kit sometime in the future to try them out. 2 tanks ($10 each+ by them self) 2 900mAh batteries ($19 each alone) 4 cartomizers ($2.29 each) alone cost $60 plus you get the charger, case and a 10ml e-liquid for $59.99.

Or checkout there eGo kits MadVapes has excellent prices, customer service and shipping..they are well liked on these forums too..I buy all my stuff from them and have been using 3 of there Smok Tech eGo batteries for months.

They also have great prices on e-liquid that they make themselves under the name TopVapor they take great care to test there nicotine levels in them too. There shipping is $2.99 (1st class mail) and if you spend over $75 it's free..most of my orders have been at my door in 2-3 days..the longest being around 5 days..my last order took 4 days when they were swamped.

...all of the above...if you go with the Riva(best starter price) get the carto kit with the 2ohm single coil cartos...add another couple of 5pks to your order as well...get the highest MAH rating you can as this directly effects batt life and longevity.........
