Am I crazy with a 1.8 ohm coil on ProTank?

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster.
So I bought some 1.8 ohm coils for my Kamry X9's for use with my MVP and my K100 which is en route. When I bought them at my local B&M, the very helpful lady said "Really?! I hardly sell any of those!" I figure I can vape at a lower voltage and save battery life on my MVP without sacrificing VTF. AND I figure they would work better on the mech mod... Am I nuts?!

Correct

However, I prefer 1.8ohm coils in most of my gear. That K100 will perform better also.

nope, not crazy lol. as stated above, totally normal. i use 1.8 ohm heads in my evods and protank

I rewrap and wick my protank/evod heads, and I normally shoot for around 1.5 with cotton wick running between 8-10w. Outstanding combination of flavor, vapor production, and throat hit. It is a very thirsty setup though, goes through juice like nobody's business. So no your not crazy.

Well that's good to know! I figured lower voltage, no matter the resistance would mean that my battery lasts longer. Damn, thought I outsmarted my MVP!

I just made one yesterday - 1.3ohms - cotton wicks and all - vaping like a champ - using it with a SVD - I dont get why some folks like high ohms - use more bat power - am not into and dont want to dare venture into sub ohms - but am liking em between 1.3 - 1.8

I use 1.7 ohm cartos on a smok winder and it performs good. Although I am pretty sure im close to amp limit on the battery, usually vape it at 4v but if I turn it up to 4.8 there's not much improvement but since you have an mvp you should not have a problem with the amp limit.

As for the battery life it think it has more to do with the power output(watts) rather than voltage or ohms individually. with 2.5 ohm cartos at 4v my battery would last pretty much all day but with 1.7 ohm cartos my battery only last half a day.

I use 1.8ohm on my Twist and also used them once in a while on my old Vamo, they're all I buy when I want pre-wrapped coils as they usually ohm at 2ohm exactly and work great on VV eGo devices. Of course like some above have stated I also re-wrap at 1.4-1.5ohm for fixed-volt eGos.

Nope, I use 1.8's in my pro-tank with an ego battery all the time. It is just a better combo for the juice I am vaping at the moment.

But no - you aren't saving your batteries by using lower resistance and running at a lower voltage. The lower the resistance you put across the battery the harder it is on them. Taken to the extreme - no resistance at all in a devices is called a short - don't ever do that unless you want to see extremes in short battery life. And safety...

Naw, I prefer 2.2 Ohm on my Vamo but if I can't get those the 1.8's are my second choice.

Well is that entirely true? a lower resistance allows you to heat the coils much faster which means less time on the button resulting in less drain of the battery. Thats why with a mech mod and a lower resistance (not sub ohm) allows your 3.7 volt mod to last quite a while. Short burst on the MVP at 3.7 volts has to save more battery then holding the button down at 5 volts which is above the battery standard. Could be wrong

I use 1.5ohm coils on my Protank's, one on a iTaste SVD and the other on my K101. My local shop stocks 1.5ohm and up. I have learned how to clean and care for them so they last. Gives a better vape on the K101 than any other ohm coil.

Enough batteries in my stock so i dont care

Lower resistance heats up faster, but drains higher amps. Kill the battery faster and shortener the lifespan

PIF them to somebody Anybody with a VV/VW mod could likely make very good use of them. Normally I'd be interested myself but I recoil my own to exacting specifications and am dipping into mechanicals so I need 1-1.2ohm coils now!

Here's what surprised me a little at first - when I thought "somethings wrong with the flavor" on my ProTank, vaping at 8 watts, compared to the same juice in an EVOD. Yes, there's a slight difference in draw, etc - but REALLY what I had figured was that there is a TASTE difference between different resistance coils - EVEN IF YOU'RE USING VW.
I had kind of assumed that having set watts instead of voltage would make it so any resistance would work - but nope, I have a preference for a coil thats 1.5-2.0. Higher, and I lose something. I'm sure there are other folks for whom it's the opposite, choosing 3 ohm coils becuase it effects their vape.
