Am I cursed, doing something wrong or is E gear always poor quality?

Hi.

I'm seriously considering stopping vaping for good. Not because I want to but because it's been more expensive than smoking and much more frustrating!

My story goes like this.
I started with some ego batteries. 2 of them lasted me about 6 months, then suddenly stopped working (I vape about 3-4 ml a day).

So I thought to myself, why not try a MOD? Worst idea ever! Sure, the vape experience is much better but they keep breaking!

I started out with what I believed to be a high quality one (SMOK). Well, for no good reason, it stopped working after 2 months. I was able to get my money back though.

So I thought to myself, why not try a discount MOD? I could get 2-3 for the same price as the SMOK one.
That went even worse. Both broke in a matter of a few months. This time, the problem wasn't the electronics but the system that connects the tank to the MOD. The tanks simply could not be screwed on anymore.

Time for some serious research I thought. This time, I would buy what ever people seemed to agree was a state of the art MOD, no matter how pricey. So I ended up with a Sigelei MOD which looked as if it was well build. Think again! 2 months and suddenly, it says that the battery is low although it is completely charged as confirmed by both charger and ego batteries. WTF is going on?

My E cig adventure has been much more expensive than smoking analogs, that really says it all. Not that I'm considering going back to that, I never will, but the endless stream of money for nothing and constant frustration has to stop and it doesn't look like it ever will unless I say goodbye to vaping for good.

Anyone else had a similar experience or has any idea how I might be able to fix my Sigelie MOD?

Hi mate,
Sounds frustrating.
I have been luck in my equipment purchases, however, I do my best to NOT buy mass produced Chinese clobber.
What toppers/atomizers/tanks do you use?

Cheers

I am guessing the Sigelei mod is one where you use 18650 batteries. (or another size as I am not familiar with all their products). Batteries do wear out after so many cycles charging, I'd start with buying 2 more quality batteries (Samsung 25R for example).

I only had this problem with 2 mods. They were the same mod from the same company Joyetech. Now I refuse to ever touch a Joyetech product again. I've had my iStick 50w for 6 months, a Reo for 8 months. I never had a mod of good quality break. That is even being dropped many times throughout the ownership.

Sorry to hear of your frustrations. The market is full of companies trying to cash in on vaping, and not all of them are concerned with quality. In my own experience Sigelei didn't cut it. My first mech was a Sigelei 24, and it had constant button issues. I went through a series of clone mechs, all of which had various issues, from 510 threads in brass that wore out, to badly made buttons that had a lot of issues. I finally arrived at authentics. Clones will get you through the lean times when you need them, but quality costs money, and you get what you pay for. The mechs I use today are authentic Poldiacs, with authentic gennies on them. I'm very happy with the quality and the vape.

Batteries will last from 6 months to 1 year typically.
This, but only if you take care of them and they are quality batteries to begin with. There are a lot of reasons why gear breaks prematurely. If it's not a cheap clone, it's usually user error/abuse. I've never heard of anyone having so much bad luck with so many different manufacturers' gear. Makes me wonder if there's something the OP is doing wrong. Not bagging o the OP, just wondering if there's some knowledge we can share to help out. Too many unanswered questions though.

Damn, that's a lot a responses! Thanks guys/gals.

Just read around here and learn the better name brands. I've bought name brand egos and used daily for 2yrs.
Shop the better stores with good warranties.

I've been reading around a lot and what I got from it was that SMOK and Sigelie in particular should be high quality items. Would you disagree?

That Sigelei ought to be in warranty. I don't kbow who does it in Denmark, but in the states it's AsMODus. Hitting the Sig website might help.

I just found out that the warranty expired 2 weeks ago. I went to the Sigelei website and found out that 5 types of MODS, including mine, the Sigelie Mini (30w) only has 3 months of warranty as opposed to 2 years for the rest of their products. I bet that they know that these 5 MODs are made poorly but instead of taking responsibility for their ....ty products they just let their customers pay the price instead.

My frustration ended when I bought a REO, RM2/RM3 and some unflavored juice. The REO will take a beating and last forever with great results and I love unflavored thus ending that search too. Good luck! Don't smoke! :)

Thanks, I'll take a look at that.

I use the davide BVC from Anyvape and a Kanger protank 2. Both with original atomizers. Should be at least acceptable quality. Never really had a problem with them, it the MODs that's been a downer.

Yes it is but I assure you, the batteries are not to blame for this situation as confirmed by my charger and other ego batteries.

Are you buying all this gear from the same place? I wonder if it's possible that they're selling you cheap clones.

No. The SMOK MOD was from Pinkmule (got a full refund) while the other were purchased through Fasttech. The cheap Mods were indeed clones but I knew that when I bought them. The Sigelie should be authentic.

Batteries will last from 6 months to 1 year typically. The chemicals that make them work kind of wear out.
Sigeli stands behind their products, contact them.

No, they don't. They have 5 MODS with only 3 months warranty. That's not standing by ones product, it's selling crap for the price of gold.

EDIT: Not just that, they also sell some products with no warranty what so ever!

That's what I've thought too but the thing is that I'm not exactly new to vaping and I've done my research. I can't see what I could have done wrong. In the case of the Segilie MOD, it just stopped working from one hit to the next while I was holding it in my hand. It doesn't make any sense.

I can accept that the cheap clones would break in a short time but the SMOK and Segilie MOD is beyond me. As mentioned before, I got my money back from the SMOK purchase as the people at Pinkmule agreed that I had done nothing wrong.

Sounds familiar - Me too. I would never buy Joyetech again... but that doesn't seem to be stopping people. I have some broken SMOK equipment - it was all too cheap in the first place.

As for Sigelei... all my stuff is sound. If the (new) mini only lasts a few months it will be better value than Joyetech.

Either roll the dice with cheap stuff or buy something with a rock-solid warranty. Joyetech, to me, offers neither. It cost me comfortably over $150 to find this out.

I went through all your frustrations for a long time. Tossed one costly, soon to be worthless mod out after another. I also learned to stop buying mass produced Chinese garbage. No customer service, no quality control. They make them cheap, we buy. I then bought a Provari, never had a day of trouble with it. Realized, although excellent quality, it wasn't for me. I sold it, in 100% working order. Discovered Reo's. I have several now. Been using them for years, again not one day of trouble from any of them. Just my opinion, and something I wish I would have known sooner.
