love this forum and all you guys that help everyone so much!!! My question is i just got my joy ego. I am using it as it comes. With standard cartrige and 650 battery. Battery life is excellent. My question is after i fill the cartridge, It seems like i can only vape it about 10 times before i start getting that burnt taste in the back of my throat. I go to add juice and it will only take about 3-4 drops. Then 10 more vapes and i have to refill again. Is this normal with thes little cartriges? I hate having to refill every 15 minutes especially at work. Are cartos better in that they last a lot longer? Do i need to put more filling in the cartridge so it holds more juice? thanks for all your replys in advance!!!

Try using a clear (see-through) Cartomizer. It's not pretty but it's great for educational purposes. You can see how much the liquid permeates the cotton.

I just got a set of these this week and am very happy with them on my Ego.
Clear Dual Coil Carto 5 Pack Box

Disclaimer: I'm in no way associated with maximum vapors nor have I tested a wide variety of eliquids with the above carts.

Yes, e-Cigarettes have a learning curve. Hitting it Slower. How to Fill and Fluff Up the Cart Filling. Etc.

Filler Type Cartomizers IMO are Much Easier to use and don't require as much Fiddling with. I would Always tell someone to try them. But Sometimes it's easy to Blame the Hardware when the Actual problem may be the e-Liquid.

What e-Liquid are you using?

Think of it like using Old Cloudy Gasoline to start the Coals on a BBQ. If you did and then your Steaks tasted Bad, would you Blame the Weber?

I know that the carto's I received with my 808 were advertised as only needing 4 or 5 drops to fill, and when doing my 808 vs Ego-T flavor match up I noticed that 5 really wasn't enough. I added 6 drops to an empty carto and let it rest, gave it a few toots and wasn't really getting much out of what's normally a vaping beast. I then added a few more drops and repeated the process with only slightly better results, I think I did this one more time and finally had the thing working correctly.

So my suggestion would be to add more liquid when filling/topping off your cart, after you do this a few times you'll figure out how much it takes to get it full (and probably how much it would take to overfill it lol). Once you know how much it takes to completely top it off you shouldn't have this problem, and if you do then I would suggest getting one of the previously mentioned cartos, or maybe a tankomizer if you want something that can last you all day.

It's also possible that you've burnt the cart, in which case you're going to get that burnt taste easily every time.

Good luck, and nice choice on the Ego (I love mine). Also, welcome to the forums.

It's possible that the filler in the cartridge is not contacting the bridge of the atty. Try pulling it up a little with a toothpick or tweezers, til it's only just barely below the top. Ten puffs is just about what you would get if you were dripping 3 or 4 drops directly onto the atty using a drip tip instead of the cartridge, so that's why I think that.

IIRC, I used to be able to get 40-45 minutes out of a cartridge before it started losing flavor and vapor. Then it would take 9 or 10 drops to refill it.

Cartomizers will last you a lot longer between top offs. Try some Boge 2.0 LR or the Resurrector 1.7 from Crystal Clear Vaping.

The Boges hold almost 1ml of juice and the Resurrectors will hold close to 2ml. Get a drip tip or two to make it easier to just pop it off and refill the cartos.

Keep the attys around for testing new juices.

I also agree that you would be much happier with cartos, prefereably Boge 2.0 LR.

However, in the meantime, you might try the Pyramid Tea Bag mod. You can just search YouTube to show you how it's done. This filler will allow you to get more vapes out of the cartridges before refilling.....still not optimal, but will get you by until you get some cartos.

Vapor Bomb sells Good e-Liquids IMO. What is the PG|VG ratio that you use.

The reason I ask is Thinner, ie More PG usually, e-Liquids tend to work better with most Cartos/Attys.

What ohms is the Atty you are using that starts to taste Burnt after a Few hits?

I would try some Blank Boge Soft Tip Filler Type Cartos. But don't rule out that your e-Liquid or Atty Ohms may be causing some problems also.

Ohms are a measure of Resistance.

The Lower the Ohms, the lower the Resistance of a Carto or an Atomizer. So it Runs Hotter.
The Higher the Ohms, the Higher the Resistance of a Carto or an Atomizer. So it Cooler Hotter.

Example: 100 watt light bulbs are Low Resistance compared to 60 watt bulbs.

Sometimes a Burnt Taste comes from running too Low Ohms. The e-Liquid “Burns” verses making vapor.

In your case, since you are using a atty that came with your kit, it is Probably not a Low Resistance Atomizer. It is probably just a matter of Fluffing up the Cart Filling to keep e-Liquid reaching the Atomizer.
