Am I the only one that has a problem with this?

We do have a few rules here:

7. Courtesy
a. Members must be polite at all times. When addressing another Forum user, you will be polite. Courteous discussion is welcome here but heated and abusive argument is not.

8. Personal attacks
You can disagree with the subject matter of a post, but never personally attack the poster - “Attack the post, not the poster”. Treat people as you would like to be treated yourself: with courtesy.

Finally,

d. ECF does not allow or support the use or discussion of use of any substances, or equipment for the consumption of such substances, that we consider unconnected to normal e-cigarette use or generally recognised as illegal. ECF is a single-topic resource and that topic is e-cigarettes.

I don't think it's a free speech issue.
This is the e cig forum. Not the Snoop Dogg hookah house.

I do agree to a degree. But I do not see people going, try the kush instead of e juice. Point being, I dont see people here pushing for herbal stuff, or even much of topic of debate. So why this one being any relevance as the topic is almost confusing to me.

i think you are out of your mind OP, i dont see much drug talk here and when it is mentioned its only mentioned in passing or maybe an integral part of the topic being discussed

for example...the post on legislative aspects of vaping...drug discussions and comparisons are going to be made...deal with it...be a grown up and quit being offended at everything under the sun

I've no problem with it's use or benefits or lack there of. I don't care if you want to use it or not.
But this isn't the place to discuss it and I think any discussion of it's use in APV's is nothing but detrimental to keeping vaping legal and available.
I've not seen any "What Bill and Jim Bob used to do" threads, I have seen a lot of questions on how to utilize what we use to vape with to vape a substance that is illegal for many of us to use, and according to the DEA still illegal to use. Remember, it may be legal in a state, but the feds don't agree with that yet!
Also with the FDA and God knows who else looking at us from under a microscope, we don't need to give them any more reasons they already have!
There are plenty of sites to learn and discuss this topic on that welcome this activity. This is a site about vaping and for vapors, I just ask we keep it clear which site we are on.

It has been an escalating issue here on this board recently.

The rules are in place for a reason.

From Roly:

ECF is the global central resource for electronic cigarette information. As such, one of its main duties is to remain respectable and to present the best possible face of e-cigarette use to the outside world. Our task is therefore to assure visitors that e-cigarette use is respectable, normal and entirely legal in every way.

One of the main problems we face is a continual propaganda assault paid for by commercial rivals who will suffer as e-cigarettes become more widely used. This is a serious issue for them because the smoking-related death rate will fall dramatically, in an exact parallel with the number of smokers who convert to an e-cigarette, in any country where e-cigarettes are freely available. The obvious superiority of e-cigarettes over tobacco products, and as a better solution than trying to quit (especially with the ineffective or dangerous pharmaceutical interventions), means that e-cigs are a serious threat to the income of some major vested interests. The only way they can counter this is to use a combination of lies, propaganda and suborned officials to try and stop e-cigarettes.

One way they might succeed is to portray e-cigarettes as intrinsically undesirable, or illegal, or even as a way to use illegal drugs. To stop this taking place we need to ensure that web searches for terms associated with this type of material do not return ECF in the results, and that searches on ECF produce nothing. We should keep ECF 'clean' in order to stop them succeeding. This is why words related to these topics are automatically censored by our software.

We hope you now understand why certain subjects are not allowed on ECF.

Herbal vapes are light years ahead of ecigs. Provari has nothing on STORZ & BICKEL. Now they make a fine product. Going 7 years strong.
Thanks to both, I never need a lighter.
I think if it bothers you, then your the person we are fighting aginst in the war on ecigs. Closed minds, close doors.

I think you're right about those vaporizers being light years ahead of ecigs. I sometimes wonder if we would have ecigs at all if those hadn't caught on so well like they did. But I also get why ECF doesn't want it discussed here. There are forums online full of info on those devices, so it doesn't seem like a big deal.

Guess I will chime in here. There are plenty of forums and chats out there that deal with various other topics. I choose to participate in these forums because those other topics are not permitted. You agreed to that when you signed up for an account. Should these forums start allowing such topics, I will choose to close my account here and move on. I do not personally oppose any one their use of any form of recreation that does me no harm, but one of the reasons I came to these forums is so I would not be inundated with those types of discussions.
Please feel free to discuss those things elsewhere and please abide by the rules here and do not discuss them here.

Thank you in advance!

Great Post! I get that and so do many others here.Sadly enough, some wont ever get it. Theres a difference between "functional" and "higher functioning"

Unfortunately the use of many of the substances people are arguing for in this thread cloud peoples judgements to the point that a reasonable discussion or even an understanding of why this rule is in place to protect them is next to impossible.

I know that being a mod here can be a thankless job at times but I for one am glad that these rules are in place.A big thanks to all of you and especially Roly for the wisdom and foresight to see the truth of the matter and to act in the best interest of "all" of us not just a tiny percentage of our members with admittedly divided loyalties.

If anything, they copied e-cigs not the other way around. Think of them as divergent technologies sharing a basic principle but thats where all similarities end.

As someone whos been here since 2009 as both a member and a vendor I can assure you that not a single innovation or leap in technology was borrowed from that "other" hobby. Most came about right here on this very forum and then were either manufactured and sold by industrious vendors or quickly copied by the Chinese and brought to the masses.

As funny and sad as it is, it's already happening! There's a thread around here on just such a topic.

We are MISSING THE FORREST for the trees. While we are busy nipping @ each other, TPTB are busy classifying everything as either a dr*g,or Paraphernalia LOL. We are afraid even to mention the dreaded D..g word lest we be accused. Yep,while we are debating the trees, the Forrest is burning down. We 'should' be able to talk of what we will without concern of punitive action being taken against us. We have become vassals of our lord & I don't men the 'Lord of hosts'. When the gov is afraid of the people, there is fr**dom (can we still say that?)but when the people are afraid of the gov, there is.......I coded it so they couldn't hear lest I be accused of promoting fr**dom & d**gs.

Hey OP, speak for yourself- it's legal where I live, and perfectly acceptable.

I understand why it's banned on the forum. But personally, it IS legal where I live, and I'd love to see more cross-talk between nicotine vapers and "herbal" vapers. I'd also really like to see more talk about using herbal medicine in a vape, much like asthma inhalers. There is a tradition going back 3,000 years of smoking herbs like tulsi, gotu kola and many more for therapeutic benefit.

And in a state where we'll soon have "it" available in retail shops, I'm sure we'll see mixes of e-liquids. Look, alcohol, nicotine, "it," are ALL drugs. And I could cite references showing that "it" is far less dangerous than the other two.

Honestly, with SO many states that allow legal or medicinal "it", the use of vapes is going to become more and more mainstream. The government will never be able to outlaw the hardware, and with "it" quickly gaining legal ground, the argument to make e-juice illegal is even more unlikely.

Everyone should be free to smoke whatever the hell they want, however they want provided they aren't putting anyone else in danger.

Well, seeing as it is Illegal FEDERALLY, maybe that is ECF's standpoint on it.
And until final legislation's pass, I think the greater good of ECF doesn't want to be associated with something that is just being accepted widely now, with the rest of the balance all negative press for years...you'll see that cross talk, maybe not on here, or if so, not for a long time.
Until it is legal 100% from state 1-50...then it's still going to kick up a crap storm by it's opponents.

Even when its legal in all 50 states it will still have negative associations unless people become deaf blind and stupid all at the same time.

If you need proof of that look at drinking.Anything other than one or two in a social setting is frowned upon nowadays. All you have to do is look at the much stricter laws in regards to drunk in public and drinking and driving to see this.

"Therapeutic" line from a vendor I get my ejuice from: REV is a combination of caffeine, myrcene, and nicotine (optional). (Notice the "optional.) I don't use caffeine so wouldn't think of trying it. Another vendor (haven't purchased anything there) sells herbal ejuices. There was a noob in the past month who started a thread looking for herbals which I never heard of up until then but the reply posts pretty much lamblasted the OP who said over and over again they were not looking for anything illegal. I think these products popping up are going to make it harder for the mods.

Sorry you don't understand or know me better! I'm about as anti-government as they come! It's not about it offending me, as I've said, I've no problems with it's use, many of my friends and some of my family partake. I don't care! Sometimes I wish I could so it would help relive much of the constant pain I'm in from a back injury! But I'm allergic as I've stated. If I was so "offended" how would I even know that?
I guess I read a lot more of the forum than you, as I've seen numerous posts on this topic lately, and this isn't the place to talk about it! I fail to see how that is so hard for some to understand? Plenty of other places allow that, plenty don't!
As far as the legality goes, yes it's legal in some states, but look at what's happening in California. The DEA is constantly going in and shutting down legal (in the state) vendors. WHY? Because the federal govt. still doesn't recognize the legality of the states rights. Which I agree, is WRONG! But right now we are at war with our own government it seems so the less ammunition we can give them to have a reason to attack our personal rights, the better we will be off in the long run. Just as Roly stated! We need to win little battles at a time then we can start taking our freedoms back a piece at a time.
It's not about being offended, it's about knowing when to be quiet and do the right thing for the greater good of all.
