Am I the only one?

I used to smoke(half pack a day for 4 years) before and I've observed that I was not really addicted since I had periods when I stopped and only coughed a lot and got sickly when i have days that I don't smoke. I usually smoked either with company , had nothing to do or after eating/drinking.

I'm not sure If I really got addicted to nicotine or I just got addicted to the act of puffing smoke. since it was really easy for others to transition into PVs like me I think the true addiction was merely psychological rather than nicotine...

bottom line is I think I'm more addicted on inhaling and exhaling fumes(now vapor) from my mouth if it wasn't the nicotine.
probably why nicotine patches and gums sucked. lol

on a side note I also liked some nicotine in my DIY juices 6-12mg I especially liked the clear nicotine since it does not ruin the flavor and almost no throat hit but rather hits you right in the chest.

When I smoked a pack a day maybe more for 6 years.. I quit cold turkey almost 3 years ago.. Recently started vaping 0mg nic.. It wasn't the nic for me.. I tried to quit with the patch after my 3rd year and it made me sick as hell.. This was the step 3 patch too.. I think it was more of the psyche as well as the chemicals they put in the cigarettes and playing with the smoke.

We talk a lot about nic here but I truly do think nic addiction is way over stated. Some of us, even those like myself coming off a 60-year heavy smoking (2PAD the last 5 years of that time) don't have much problem doing zero nic either shortly after beginning to vape or longer. BUT... yes, a big one.... a whole lot more goes into smoking than the nic. The mental obsession or "habit" is much, much, harder to break. I still drink decaf coffee, pops and hot chocolate for instance as well as non-alcoholic wine and beer. I think that says it but I also eat and drink artificial sweeteners and a plethora of low carb substitutes for the real deals. (Yes, there are sugar "addicts.") Though I no longer have caffeine, alcohol, sugar and other carbs in my life would I go back to them should all the "nons" disappear tomorrow.... sadly, I probably would. Likewise, if the only products available to continue getting the flavor and substitute action of smoking was actually nic-containing smokes.... yeh, I would most likely smoke again.... the attraction/mental obsession/habit is just that strong... but physical addiction to an "addictive substance"... no.

Edit: Incidentally, I don't lung inhale while vaping and that also changed the way I smoked near the end of it. I got as much, or more actually, enjoyment not lung inhaling.

There could possibly be a psychological hand to mouth addiction, which many people have.

yup. i think that's why the patch didn't work so well for me unless i was inhaling something that isn't quite allowed to be discussed here.

I agree with you. Seeing those puffs of vapor coming out is very addicting to me and I don't know why. It doesn't hurt that I can vape dessert all day and not gain one ounce of fat either!!

since i started doing this with fruity flavors, i have not wanted candy or anything in weeks! it's amazing!

One of my biggest things was that I had nothing to do with my hands. I also struggled with the addiction aspect but a big thing was the hand-mouth action, which vaping took the place of.

I would buy some 0-6/8mg eliquid and get a nice setup and go from there. If you are afraid you will need more nicotine, buy a small bottle of 12mg for those rough times, I vape 11/12mg exclusively but I still have 18mg in my stash incase I ever need it.

The fact is... unlike anything that ever had to do with my smoking cigarettes
for close to well over 60 years... Never did I have the pleasures I do today
of enjoy switching though out each and every single day ... and time and again
to the many wonderful flavors and treats our lab techs and kitchens masters
are putting together for us to enjoy in our tanks or whatever we use to vaporize our juices. :vapor:
