I started vaping yesterday for the first time. I have been chain vaping because I don't think I am getting a satisfying level of nicotine. There have been moments I have broken down and had a cigarette. But no more than one a day.

Anyone else experience this? Should I have bought a higher level of nicotine?

Old habits are hard to stop...give yourself some time and see what happens..many ppl stop after 1 day and some ppl need a few weeks....let your body and brain adjust, don't be impatient...just 1 analog your first day is a great start so far...chill and see how your body and brain reacts over a lil time...and yes, def stay hydrated..

you're fine. most people vape constantly right after the switch, because it's not the same. you get the nicotine, but there are thousands of other chemicals in cigarettes that you're not getting anymore. you'll naturally vape less eventually.

trying out a higher nicotine wouldn't hurt.

also, if you really feel like you need a ciggy, i say go ahead and have one. it took me a few weeks before i gave them up completely. i was down to a half a pack a day when i switched. opened up a brand new pack the day that i got my first set-up, and still have 5 left in that same pack.

Chain vaping seems to be quite common. But chain vaping may be at a slower pace then with an analog. As You don't have to worry about it turning to ash, just don't take another draw. What nic level are You at? I smoked a pack+ of PM filters and found 24mg was too much now at 18mg I am satisfied.

I think everybody chain vapes during the transition. I started on 18 nic and I was wired up pretty bad the first couple days. Trouble sleeping and kinda loopy. Adjusted quick and dropped to 12 during the day and 6 at night. I don't chain vape anymore. Just a good 15 min session once and hour or 2...with the occasional flavor puff in between of course...

I think the best advice is to just listen to your body. It will tell you when you hit the right stride. It takes some time to adjust regardless. It's a big time lifestyle and chemical change with your body. I think I underestimated it going in.

I predict that in a few days, analogs are going to start tasting like you just licked a dirty ashtray. You probably do not have strong enough juice to power through the first couple/three days to get to full time vaping and satisfaction. Chain vaping is not unusual. How much did you smoke? What strength nicotine do you have now? How many mils of juice are vaping each day?

The absorption of nicotine with vaping is both much lower and believed to be around or slightly less than 50%, and the uptake is far less due to the vape missing the 100 or so chemicals in tobacco that enhances uptake. The result is that an analog hits the brain in about 5 seconds. A good vape takes about 30 seconds to hit the brain. You body has to adjust to the difference in uptake. Of course, once it does, then vaping is just as satisfying, if not moreso, and the nicotine behavorial response is greatly reduced, i.e., vaping is less addictive than smoking. This is fact, not conjecture. Keep it up and very soon, you'll be vaping only, analogs will be dirt, and then vaping will be Nirvana.

if you continue to chain vamp[sic] and aren't feeling satisfied even with a high level of nicotine might I suggest you try some ejuice with WTA? you can research what wta is on this forum and elsewhere. let me just say when I switched to ecigs I had a hard time not thinking about cigs and and didn't think I would last until I tried juice with wta. it made the transition not only bearable but actually enjoyable. I am not saying it works for everyone and you may not even feel a difference, but I know I did and I know there are many others who swear by its benefits. it is pricier than non-wta juice but you don't have to use it all the time and you WILL vape less so the cost is offset. try it, and if it doesn't help than PM me and I will buy the remaining juice so you won't feel like it's a waste of time. it has kept me off smoking for 5 months(coming up on 6 shortly) and I smoked for 45 years. sounds like a commercial, but it is the truth for me.

The headache may well be from not intaking enough water. I would suggest that 12 mg is a tad low for a PAD. Try an 18 and then a 24 for those "must light up" moments. Then use the 12 at night so you can sleep.

I think I will monitor my hydration more and get at least 18mg. My goal is to ween myself off the nicotine. Maybe I was over ambitious to start with 12mg.

yeah, 12 is a little low for a pad smoker... i was at about 10 cigs a day, and a mix of 12 and 18 was perfect for me. the hydration is definitely important as well - with the cigarettes it's easy because you get thirsty when you smoke, but when i started vaping, my water intake went waaaay down and i had to basically start forcing myself to drink.

Good idea Ohy - but remember that nicotine isn't the enemy so much as all the arsenic formaldehyde, nail polish remover and tar from combustible cigarettes. Weening yourself off nicotine is a grand idea ultimately, but for now, I'd stick with retiring the lighter. :) And you're doing great so far. Having a couple of extra hefty nic contents like 18 and a 24 for 5-10 minutes or more will be a help for those cigarette stress moments.

I've been analog free for nearly six weeks now and I still find myself chain-vaping, even liquids I know are 0mg, and even when the 18 I use isn't giving me a buzz any longer. I do however notice I only do it when I'm bored now, as opposed to my first few days vaping 6mg at a party when I was getting used to the new delivery mechanism and trying to sate the desire for a good buzz. Moved to 18mg, wake and vape, and I'm set until dinner most days, but after that I'll retire to my room, hop online, and find myself unconsciously chaining for hours just to have something in my fingers or mouth.

Take-away: Everyone's different, I was never a 2PAD smoker or anything so I can't give you a baseline there, but logically all the above posts make sense saying you'll chain-vape your first few days off analogs as you try and get that same hit you're used to. Give it a few weeks, see what happens, then I'd look into either a higher nic level, or maybe as someone above posted, a liquid with WTA in it.

I was a PAD smoker, and I started with 6mg...yep, that didn't cut it. Now, I vape 18-24mg juice in the morning to wake me up and cut down to 12mg for the day and then down to 6mg for after dinner (so I can sleep). I wash this all down with 8-10 bottles of water.

eCig starter kits should come with a bottle of water...

Im nearly nine months in and I still vape a whole lot more then I ever smoked! When Im at home its in my hand constantly! You have to remember also that it takes nicotine longer to be absorbed with vaper then it does with smoke. You don't get that instant satisfaction (you also don't get all those extra chemicals either!)

I started out at 18 but found I was oding on the nic so I stepped down to 12 and felt better. After about a month your cravings will largely decrease if you are like me.

I even have 0 nic that I use at night so I can wind down to sleep...still no cravings then either.
