Using a dual coil twisted messes deck on a smoant mod. Been making my own coils for a while now, havent had any problems yet so I assume im safe. Just need to check because according to my understanding of ohms law...im potentially killing my batteries.

Most coils i build are 32g clapton and i read my ohms at anywhere from .29-.36 and the volts run at 5.16 at 90-104watts.

The batteries i use ate samsung 18650 and are rated for 20A with a pulse rating of 35A.

That puts me at a little over 17....which I feel is a little close to 20A limit of the battery. Should I still be fine or do I need to consider changing some things up?

When using a regulated mod, coil resistance is irrelevant. Coil resistance is only relevant when using a mechanical mod. Mech mods use Ohm's Law; regulated mods use Watts Law.

The wattage setting you use and the amp rating (continuous discharge rating) of the battery you use is relevant with a regulated mod.
See chart and video below.

By the way, pulse ratings are completely meaningless. Battery pulse ratings are useless! | E-Cigarette Forum

You are fine with your current setup as long as your Smoant is a two battery mod. :) Two 20 amp batteries (60 watts each) are good for up to 120 watts, which is over your maximum 104 watt setting.

Hi bulletbutter. Welcome to the ECF.

104 Watts / 3.2 Cutoff Voltage / .9 Efficiency = Approximately 36 Amps.

So a Dual Battery Mod would ask Each Battery to 18 Amps. Getting Up there for a 20A Battery. But still within reason for New/Newer Batteries.

Now notice what happens when the Voltage isn't allowed to go below 3.5 Volts.

104 Watts / 3.5 Cutoff Voltage / .9 Efficiency = Approximately 33 Amps.

Now the per Battery load would be 16.5 Amps.

16.5 Amps per Battery for 20A CDR Batteries is about where I like to Max Out. So a Possible answer is to just Not Run you batteries until the Mod won't fire if you Mod's Cutoff Voltage is below 3.5 Volts.

I'm a little concerned by that description of a Samsung 20A battery carrying a pulse rating of 35A. Samsung doesn't list pulse ratings on their batteries. Where did that pulse rating originate?
We here on ECF have become "spoiled" by Mooch's honest ratings.

Even some of our frequently recommended, trusted and reputable suppliers like Lion Wholesale lists the Samsung 25R as having a 100 amp max pulse rating. Lion Wholesale

For those readers who don't already know, just IGNORE any so-called "pulse rating". It is just a made up number to confuse customers and get them to buy their product.

There are no 18650 batteries with a genuine rating over 30A!
