I don't know if what I am about to say makes sense or if it is just plain crazy, but here goes anyways... I bought some eliquid from my local tobacco shop, the eliquid was from the same manufacture that I always vape from and the same flavor as well, but the difference this time is that this eliquid's formula had been changed, even the store owner said that the marketing materials for this eliquid said the formula had been changed. Anyways, I brought it home, it had a different type of dropper top on it, a kind that is hard for me to use so I changed the dropper top and filled my ecig. I started puffing away, Y-U-U-C-K! This stuff tasted like PURE CRAP! I smelled the bottle and it smelled like PURE CRAP as well as tasting like PURE CRAP, I couldn't believe that I had just wasted my money on something that tasted and smelled so vile, why would the manufacture change the formula on an eliquid that I loved so much and make it so BAD, so bad that it made me want to puke!? Anyways, I was so disgusted with this crap, I quickly removed the dropper top but I forgot to put the cap back on and just sat it on a shelf as by now I was HIGHLY MAD and DISAPPOINTED, to disappointed to even throw it away. Needless to say, I forgot about the crap sitting on the shelf, as the day winded down and night came and then bed time I went to sleep.

The next day I was jonesing for a vape, the only stuff I had was the PURE CRAP I forgot about on the shelves from the night before, so I put the dropper top on it, filled my ecig (I needed my nic fix),. I was determined I would take just a few quick hits, just enough to passify my nic cravings. I figured I would choke back the vile taste and smell until the cravings for nic subsided. I took a few quick hits, WOW...this stuff had a different taste then before! It wasn't PURE CRAP and DIDN'T taste VILE anymore. It was somewhat pleasing, not all the way, but definitely heading the right direction. I smelled the bottle, the vile smell was disappearing as well. So now I figure if it was starting to taste better and smell better by accidentally leaving the cap off and letting it set a few hours, why not do it on purpose and let it set without the top and cap several more hours to see if it improves even more.

So has this even remotely ever happened to any of you, has an eliquid started to taste and/or smell better because you left the cap off and let the air get to it a few hours?

Your experience is not that uncommon....Steeping - allowing a juice to settle/"age" - is often necessary to bring out flavor(s) of a juice...
Steeping with the cap off will often dissipate/eliminate an alcohol/perfume odor from the juice....
Try letting the juice steep a bit longer....say, a week or so.....then try it again.....you might be pleasantly surprised...or not.....depending on the juice......Good luck!
Happy (vaping) Trails!

Anytime I get a bitter or soapy tasting juice in the mail, I pop the cap off, remove the dropper insert, and let it sit for a week. I go by and squeeze the air out and then swirl it around to bring the bottom juice to the top. Steeping works.

Bitter taste, something I call "green" is said to be alcohol, which is in the flavorings used to create the juice. Soapy taste is associated with some flavorings that just need to be steeped. Leaving the cap on does nothing. It will probably taste still bad months from now, according to my personal experience.

Some juices that smell bad taste good and vice versa.

I just discovered this yesterday. I tested several flavors at my local b&m and the flavors were fantastic. When I got home I was expecting the same flavor. But when I tried them they were flat and had little taste. I was so disappointed. Last night I read about steeping. I'm going to try and see if steeping helps to bring out their flavor.
