The term 'pipe bomb' is frequently used to describe the potential danger of mods and the need for venting and battery safety. If it weren't so commonly used to describe the dangers, then I could see getting upset about using that specific term. But, since that's not the case, . . . . .

calling an unvented or inadequately vented mod a "pipe bomb" is a figure of speech, todd didn't invent that slang term, it's been used many many times by many different people way before this mod even existed so trying to take this in the literal sense and crying about the atrocity of calling it a "pipe bomb" and trumping that up to the point of making it out that he is implying it's actually a terrorist weapon is just plain stupid, we all knew what he meant, just like when someone says something is a piece of crap, no one thinks that they are implying that it is literally a pile of warm organic feces, no, it's a descriptive term that is nothing more than a matter of slang...

Ameravape feeds on drama, for every post you guys make positive or negative it's free advertising for them. I wouldn't be surprised if the trolls here defending them are actually working with them.
They go as far as saying so in that video, the best way to kill them once and for all is to simply ignore their existence.

EDIT: Case and point not even 5 minutes after I post this guess who popped in with another copy/paste reply right below mine?

You purchase a mod, and it doesn't fire. You contact the manufacturer, and he asks you to have it independently tested to confirm it is in fact defective before they will honor the warranty and repair/replace it.

Fair?

If you don't believe Todd's assertion that the mod he was sent does not vent, then you are calling him a liar, and unlike his assertion based on his testing of a physical device, your accusation is in fact considered defamation under the law.

i have not during this discourse called any one a liar. nor have i resorted to the vitreal employed by some some to make meaningless points that have nothing to do with the real issue. its time to put all the cards on the table. independently test said non-venting mod and be done with it. if it doesn't vent Todd is vindicated and i will hang my head in shame and go sit in the penalty box. being a customer is one thing. being a respected long time reviewer is another and carries with it a higher standard not only to the vendors he is reviewing but,to the people reading or watching his reviews.

Then we shall disagree as to the need for independent testing in this case. I, for one, believe Todd has enough experience with these devices, so that his statement can be taken as fact. You do not see him as qualified to make this statement.

Other mod makers have tried to slap him around for negative reviews. It generally did not end well for them.

Truth be told, a mod maker really has to go out of his way to get a bad comment from Todd. Have you watched any reasonable number of his reviews? He's generally very forgiving, and he goes out of his way to give a mod maker the chance to clean up any issues before finalizing a review. If a mod maker manages to earn such a demerit from Todd, then they really did intentionally drive their product into a concrete wall at 300 kph.

I have no dog in this fight but I would like to speak to the claims of defamation.

A review of a product is an opinion. Think of it like this.... A restaurant critique eats a meal and writes the review saying that the food was overly salty, undercooked ..... whatever..
That is his opinion of the meal he ate. He does not have to box up the meal and take it to a lab to prove his opinion.
It is not defamation.
Defamation is when one lies to cause deliberate harm to a person or business. Furthermore, in order to prove defamation one must prove that the other party defamed them with intent to harm their reputation. Clearly there was no intent here only an opinion of the specific product that was reviewed.

a machine shop is no different than any other contractor you might hire.when my father had his roof completely redone the contract called for 3/4 inch thick plywood. they had half the roof done when my brother noticed they where using 1/4 inch plywood. my dad made them tear it all off and use the materials he was paying for. typically you provide the specs, the contractor provides the material according to the specs. you as the customer pay the agreed upon cost.being more familiar with the construction industry i still can see that cutting corners is a problem any time you sub contract work. i'm not saying thats what happened just, thats it believable.

No way they were using 1/4" plywood.. no way. They would fall through. 1/2" (actually 7/16") is the standard and prolly what he was using. 3/4" is very heavy and adds increased loads to the rafters actually creating an unsafe condition.

Still havent shown how Todd defamed, btw.

Yes.. there are vids showing it vents.. but not in the way 'the engineer' said it would... Also, have you read 'the engineers' description odf why they made the mod they way they did? Sounded like some 6th grader trying to sound smart

As I keep saying (and you seem to be ignoring) MY mod did not vent!

I contacted the vendor and the manufacturer before doing the review, all this was documented in the review and on my FB page.

I don't give a flying monkeys who sends me a mod, if it doesn't vent, it's a pipe bomb and I'll say this everytime.

Feel free to sue me for giving a .... about peoples safety.

thanks for the info. now i wonder if Ameravape paid for the 1200 good ones, why is that their bad? i know of no piece work where you get paid for defective product. the shop could have perhaps re-worked the defective units if possible or,built 200 more good ones.it comes out to roughly $21.50 in materials for each unit plus $63,000 in cost of production. or is the $30.000.00 the total cost of the run? doesn't sound like any one is screwing over any body.

obviously you have in the mean time hired a pneumatic expert to test the unit you received to in fact show that it doesn't vent.

mike

Dude.. Really? Are you Amerivape in drag or something? EVERYTHING you say and or claim is utter BS. Seriously, you sound like Amerivapes on Reddit and Instagram - spewing utter BS, but trying to sound 'smart' and 'knowledgeable' by using big words and concepts you actually know nothing about.. and it really, really shows.

I agree with you but I think the bottom line issue here is the specific one that Mark Todd reviewed.

for your information i have no skin in this game. i for one cant think of any reason why people are so bent out of shape concerning Ameravape unless they had some ulterior reason. if you are going to make statements about some ones product prove it. being a reviewer will altruistic motives, freedom of speech and,a disclaimer saying this is just an opinion doesn't preempt one from using a little common sense. doesn't any one here ever read the papers? you cant call some ones product basically an IED with out batting an eye and think, whats all the fuss about. defamation is a very real concept in the law. being a reviewer does not insulate one from that fact. i will make you a deal. i will say what Ameravape did was dumb if you say what Todd said was dumb. now i wish them both well.

AGAIN.. Show where Todd is liable in the defamation laws.. ANY defamation laws.. You are the one that keeps saying this with absolutely NO proof to back up YOUR claims... C'mon, show us all how this is defamation.
