Hi. My name is Marilyn. I found this forum while searching for a cheaper site from which to buy analog cigarettes and I've been lurking here for the past two months or so. I was a pack-a-day smoker of [cheap/no name brand] menthol light cigarettes for 29 years with no intentions of quitting. I just thought the e-cigarette (aka "PV") was a neat new electronic "toy." Yes - I am a geek who loves new electronic technology.
So, in the interests of furthering my geekiness, I researched the forum to determine which might by the best PV for me to try and I decided on the M401. I ordered a starter kit from Absolutely E-Cigs (China) along with an extra atomizer. After reading about how "bad" the juice in the cartridges were, I also ordered some e-liquid from Nuvape.com.
First set of thank yous: To both Absolutely E-Cigs and Nuvape.com for awesome delivery and good business.
I got the M401 starter kit on June 19th and let the batteries charge overnight. So, Saturday, June 20th, I fired my first PV up. And that makes the 19th of June the last day I had an analog cigarette. The vapor production and throat hit from the M401 were enough for me, as I continue to vape with the M401 as I smoked: about once an hour. Didn't plan on stopping tobacco cigarettes - I am one of those "accidental" quitters. Cool!
My biggest problem was flavor. Either I couldn't taste anything or else I was getting a hay or straw-like aftertaste - especially with the tobacco flavors. Yuck!! So, I began my search for a flavor I could tolerate. After many mililiters of e-liquid (and some flavorings from Lorann's), I found I like RY4 from My Freedom Smokes (USA) and Hilton from Royal Smokes (China).
Second set of thank yous go to these e-liquid sellers 'cause their sites were easily navigated, their prices are decent and their shipping was awesome - it isn't their fault I don't like most of their juices: Nuvape, Wet Your Stick, Heavens Gifts/Ruyan Direct, Juicy Liquids, Royal Smokes/Central Trade and My Freedom Smokes (MFS).
Oh, and more thank yous to Nuvape and MFS for having sample sizes of their liquid. Having those samples to try made it much CHEAPER for me to decide I didn't like a liquid. And, it's easier to ignore a 3ml bottle than a 15-30ml one...
Some things I've discovered over these past two months:
1. The M401 is enough for me in all areas: flavor, throat hit and vapor production (it does best with some VG). I only drip (or dip - though that is rarely). I've never used a cartridge cause I find that dripping out of a 3ml bottle is real simple and helps me regulate my vaping (3-4 drops equals a smoking session - else I'd never know when I was "done"). I rotate my batteries so one is always charged and I just carrry extras with me when I go out.
2. I have bought and tried the passthrough (thanks to MFS!) and I've decided I don't really like it because although I get better vapor - I lose flavor. So, I doubt I would switch to another higher voltage or different PV. It's all about the flavor for me. So, I've got a lot of M401 parts and really am watching that thread that discusses a PCC for the M401. That'd be awesome!
3. Ordering from China is easy and I've had NO problems. I've ordered parts and e-liquid (in sizes from 10ml to 1 liter) with no trouble at all. In fact, the 1 liter order was the fastest delivered and the quickest through customs. Yay for Royal Smokes/Central Trade!!
4. It's a good thing I LIKE to vape, 'cause I will have to do this for a year to make up for the money that I've spent versus buying analogs (remember, I bought cheap nail coffins). The good is, I've got a LOT of e-liquid. I'm going to try some of the "sweeter" Lorann's flavorings to see if I can hide that straw/hay aftertaste. Regardless, I've enough to vape for years...
5. Yes, I like to vape. In fact, I like it much better than smoking, mainly because I don't get smoke in my eyes or on my clothes and hair. The taste/smell were really getting on my nerves. With the PV, it tastes good AND I get nicotine with a smoke-like effect. And no lingering smell. What's not to like?!
I'm going back to [mostly] lurking now - but I just wanted anyone to know that you CAN find a flavor (and PV) that you'll like. It took me two months, but I did it.
The last thing I want to say is my last set of thank yous: To the people on this forum. I learned everything right here and thanks to ECF - no burning tobacco since 19 June. How cool is that?
And I didn't mean to do it! I didn't (don't?) want to quit smoking. So, I vape instead. And, with a better-tasting nicotine product. All that is thanks to your willingness to share on this forum.
