at this point... I think they recognize him on sight, and walk him to the eye-exam room and immediately look for metal bits no questions asked... and yes I have called him a man child to his face while waving his safety glasses in front of him. according to my memories, that's the 3rd time in the last 6 months he's been there from scratching his eyeballs or getting something in them and then scratching them.

While re-wrapping an 1860 yesterday I grabbed the top of the naked battery and my wedding band shorted it. This turned my ring into the largest and most expensive single wrap coil in vaping history. By the time I had registered the searing pain and gotten the ring off my finger, the entire top layer of skin had come away on a 90 degree arc. I’m judging this to be a 3rd degree burn as it doesn’t actually hurt very much, and it’s left a really deep trough in my finger. I’ve had to recycle the battery as the top insulator was damaged, and I have no idea how many amps I pulled out of it and therefore what internal damage was done. The burnt skin was fairly easy to remove from the ring.
I’ll refrain from posting pictures as I don’t think anyone needs to see that.

I’m not afraid to not look cool if it helps someone else to avoid getting injured. The batteries we use for vaping are dangerous and have the potential to injure us, so don’t get complacent.

Be safe vaping brethren.

Yikes!

Sorry to hear about your Finger. But glad you Posted it so that Others can know how something like this can Happen.

In a Not Thinking moment, I grabbed a Vernier Caliper to do a Measurement on how long a Button Top 18490 was. 20ms later, I had a Vernier Caliper with a Melted Tip. Can Imagine what it would feel like if had been a Ring on my Finger.

Have your Finger looked at.

No matter how much you hate going to the doctor, a 3rd degree burn really should be looked at, and the lack of pain isn't a good thing. Please be aware of any signs of infection. /mom mode

I would say to use Aloe Vera... That stuff is magical! I got a third degree burn on my arm from taking a pizza out of the oven. The stone slab it was one slid onto my inner forearm and ouchie! I immediately cooled it off and applied Aloe straight from the plant. I applied it several times a day and finally it healed with the faintest of scars. Which is saying alot seeing as how I scar super easy. I get pricked by a thorn and boom! scar. :p

dont try that trick when working on a car starter motor... but if you are interested... ground ring on any metal part of car near starter, then move ring towards the + post of the solinoid while keeping ring firmly in contact with metal of any other part. When contact occurs with + post , look for lots of sparks and glowing red ring, yank hand hard from area and start bleeding profusely... :)
