Hi I'm pretty new myself, just wanted to suggest that if you are finding it difficult to pick what to start with or move on to, you should checkout some people on youtube. There is a channel called IndoorSmokers, he looks at and reviews nearly all of the entry level stuff from the best cig-a-like ones up to mods and everything in between. I found it easier to choose my itaste vv v3 once I kind of had a good look at all my options and how they work, there are loads of other channels on youtube tho if that one isn't for you.

For equipment I would suggest the itaste vv v3 and the mini protank 2 or 3. The battery life isn't so good on the vv, but you can use it while it charges.it is adjustable by volts or watts so it can grow with you, and won't choke you at first. Kanger has really stepped their game up as far as tanks go. They are reliable and easy to change coils. As far as e liquid goes, if you have a vape shop near you, try out their flavors until you find what does it for you. I started on 18 mg. double ry4 tobacco flavor, but i don't like it anymore. When I crave cigarettes I usually go for my Black and Mild flavor. The cigarette flavored e liquids all tasted bad to me, and nothing like a cigarette.

This is a pretty great starter kit in my opinion. http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm

It gives you a lot of options and the batteries you choose from are variable voltage which could help you achieve the throat hit you desire. It will also depend on the liquid you use. If you don't mind the longer batteries, I would suggest the higher mAh versions which will last you longer between charges. As for toppers, I would get at least one Kanger Protank or Mini Protank. They are glass and can withstand the "tank cracker" liquids such as citrus and cinnamon flavors.

i like this kit for a starter. i would choose the Spinner as a reliable battery. i would also choose the EVOD tank as reliable and easy to use/replace coils. a lady friend of mine uses this combo and won't switch after a year of vaping... the pro-tanks are a PITA to me.. JMO and good luck.

Hallo. Congrats!
On E-liquid since others have mentioned it:
I was a half a pack a day smoker for my final five or so years of cigarettes. I found that 54mg nicotine (special, special, special order from my main vendor) liquid was the only thing that helped me transition over when starting with a cig-a-like. I am down to 36mg nicotine in one setup and 24 to 18mg nicotine in my other.
Sample bottles (most places sell 5ml volume bottles) of differing nicotine levels might be helpful on the transition as well as on the bank account to get started.

I've spent the last couple of hours reading reviews on e-cigs and now I am thoroughly confused. Who wasn't at this point? I am a pack a day smoker and would like some help quitting. I want to try e-cigs but there are so many out there. One of the one's that I keep reading good things about is the V2 Pro. I am looking for something that will give me a similar feel (throat hit) as a regular cigarette. Something that will emulate smoking a real cigarette. I think this is important as I make the switch from analog to electronic. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. The amount of info out there is overwhelming. Thanks!

from my experience the small gas station like e-cigs just didn't work had to try to hard to get the smoke visual along with the throat feel i wanted but i soon found the ego batteries and a mini protank 3 and it made an amazing difference if anything i'd recommend buying just the ego battery and charger and an upgraded tank like the protank instead of the starter kit you can get on ebay and get it all for around 20 bucks then just find a liquid you like and after a few days you'll throw whats left of your pack of smokes out and never look back

Thank you all so very much for all the advice. I am still a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information and choices out there. I am 90% sure I am going with the Vision Spinner II because of the battery life as compared to the Itaste vv v3. Both were highly recommended by you guys and both receive great reviews, but the battery life is what made the overall difference for me.

I've learned so much in the last few days and now I just need to decide on a tank and I will pull the trigger on this. Again, thank you all so so much. Your help has been invaluable.

I haven't read thru the whole thread and certainly many people will push you to not bother with the V2 and to go right for an ego type battery and I agree it's the natural progression but I started out with the starter kit from v2. I can say it's not that bad and they do have some good accessories, I can also say I did NOT quit smoking cigarettes with it. I vaped and still smoked all the while using my v2.

Shortly after purchasing the v2 starter kit I wanted more - I wasn't getting the throat hit I needed (hence me still smoking cigarettes) so I went to smokelessimage.com and purchased one of their twist style batteries knowing it was compatible with all of my v2 cartridges and clearomizers. The V2 and smokeless image products are all 808 threaded which is different than most other products which are 510 threaded -- I know another thing to get a headache about!

I know for many people the "cigalikes" have worked and they very well may for you but it just didn't do it for me. It wasn't until I bought an itaste vv 3.0 and some iclear 16's and evods that I actually gave up smoking (almost a year later - I'm a slow learner) I wish you the best!

Hi UGA81

I just want to say I was in your position nearly a year ago, bought a random starter kit (though I was afraid it wouldn't do the job - I was on 25 a day for 30 years). A day and a half later I was sooooo into it, and haven't had a cig yet. I went for 18mg juice, tobacco flavour. Now I'm experimenting with other flavours and devices. Got an MVP2 on the way.

I think if the juice tastes good and there's enough nicotine in it, you'll be fine with any of these recommendations above. It is SO MUCH EASIER than you think, and honestly, it becomes better than smoking. Never though I'd say that!

Once again I would like to thank all of you that chimed in with your suggestions and advice. Here is what I ended up buying today:

Vision Spinner II 1600mAh
Kanger Aerotank v2
Mini Kanger Protank 3

I also bought an assortment of liquid in a few different flavors but all with pretty high nicotine. I am excited about finally taking a step towards quitting smoking. Based on a lot of the feedback I got, this actually might work. Thanks again everyone.

I didn't see it in the thread, whether the poster is a menthol or non menthol smoker, but if u enjoy a good menthol, try Smooththol by NicQuid. I was a pack a day smoker (camel menthol) and this juice is remarkably similar to that flavor. As for setup, I'm still very new to vaping, but I will tell u what I just got on Saturday. My setup is a kangertech t3s and a smoktech winder 900 mAh battery. I don't miss cigs at all. I'm already looking into a mvp2 though for at home and this will become my car/work rig. Also, get more than one topper for your battery so u can change flavors on the fly easily. I do my Smooththol at work during cig break times to replicate the old ritual of smoking, and I got a bottle of completely non tobacco flavor (coconut cream by Azure Vaping) because it's nice to have a break from the menthol. Best of luck! I'm only 4 days into the journey myself but it's a start. Like I said, I don't miss analogs at all. I wish they woulda had this technology back when I was a stupid 15 year old so I coulda skipped them all together!

I Started on V2 and It did help me Quit, that aside I found the next step egos, than the next vv egos with evod's, then my favorite the MVP2 with Protanks, My main out and about set-up. For all the money spent on V2 I could have much better gear. thay are way to expensive for what they are. I now own several mods and RBA's and RDA's. But I stil use the MVP the most. great battery life and durable. The biggest improvements for me were V.V-V.W, and airflow bases for the Protanks. I think what you purchased was a better choice than ciggalikes. Good luck on your vaping Journey. Save those Kanger coils, I know there realitivey cheap but later when you get comfortable they are a breeze to rebuid and can work better than stock. I just did 50 of them in about a hour and a half for 3 dollars in material.

I just quit analogs 18 days ago, a PAD lights for 25 years. I have tried so many things but have finally found a couple things working for me. I love my MigCigs they are a constant 4.2 volt and battery lasts all day. They are also very elegant I take them every where I go. I also bought MigCigs Aspire 72 vv battery and love it. It too is very beautiful. And finally I just bought an itaste MVP and absolutely love the way it vapes but i'm not liking the boxie battery and the weight of it. I only use it at home. I was vaping 18mg nicotine and feeling a little nausea so I cut to 12 mg and at times still had nausea. Now I vape 6 mg nicotine in all three of my mentioned devices and I am very happy. I also use a 50pg/50vg mix on the liquid. I think I probably paid too much for what I have and you can find same thing cheaper but I didn't care I just wanted off analogs. I purchased different devices because I was having so much fun experimenting with vaping, best thing I ever did and best money I ever spent. No regets.

Congratulations Kat! I ordered just 3 things of juice and opted for the higher nicotine levels because I am quitting analogs too. I smoke Marlboro Lights and probably smoke 3/4 pack a day. I was worried that my nicotine cravings would go through the roof. Hopefully I won't get nauseous. Now you've got me worried.

I am such a noob at this, I just assumed the Vision Spinner II I bought (actually bought 2 of them), came with chargers. For some reason today I contacted the company I ordered from asking them this. They said the Spinner did not come with a charger. My Ipad, Ipod and Smart Phone all came with chargers. Why doesn't my e-cig? Anyway, I ordered the charger and the wall plug charger too. Had to pay 2 day shipping on those so they would get here the same day as the rest of my supplies. Live and learn.

Best advice for you that are just starting the quitting route:

Have two of everything. Backups are essential. A couple tanks, couple batteries etc. This way there is never a period of time where your e-cig is down and you have the potential for analog relapse. It happened to me when I started. Only had one pen and one tank and if it was charging I would find myself looking for a smoke. Also, I was smoking a pack a day for the last 2 years and smoking about half a pack a day for 8 years before that. I started out with 24mg of nic. Don't let the store people sell you on "well you smoke X cigs a day thats XXmg of nic so we will start you at that" because more often than not, it wont be enough. Go higher, and ween yourself down. The end game being no nic just flavor down the line or quitting it all together. And dont be afraid to puff on it more than normal if you have a really bad urge. But with a high nic in your flavor you should be able to keep from having urges because you are getting more than enough nic from the e-cig.

UG I never got nauseous when I started. I did however cough when inhaling at the start. This is normal as vapor is different from the cig smoke. Take small hits, mouth to lung until you get used to the way it vapes and grow accustomed to said vapor. After about a week or use you will start coughing. Hacking up nice fat gobs of lung butter. This is also normal as the vapor doesn't kill the cilia in your throat. The cilia is what helps get rid of mucus and dirt from your lungs, and smoking kills them (hence smokers cough). After you have stopped smoking and switched to vaping the cilia will start to regrow and start working to get rid of the mucus they have missed for many many years. THIS IS NORMAL I can't stress that enough. Let the body take its natural healing process. If your throat is getting sore or agitated, cut back on the vaping a wee bit until it feels better. You will cough for the first month, just so you are aware. Again, all normal. Welcome to the vape world! Keep us posted of your progress!!

Incredible information Dredge. Thanks for the taking the time.

Yes, I did have the good sense to order two of everything. Two batteries and two tanks. I did order juices with the highest nicotine in each also.

So tell me this.....Is it true that your taste buds also make a comeback when you quit smoking? I've heard that smoke deadens the taste buds and when you quit, food tastes amazing. Also, does the vape have a smell? Right now I wreak of cig smoke. Will I wreak from vape?

Trust me and the extra pounds I've put on in the last year and a half, your taste buds come back with a vengeance. The flavors you've killed with smoking come alive and it's awesome. Now I just need to get my .... back to the gym and work it off. :)

Some juices will have odor, some not so much. I vape RY4 which has caramel, vanilla, and tobacco in it. My wife says she can smell the caramel. All depends on the flavor. But it doesn't last long and doesn't stick to you like analog smoke does.

A couple of tips for you as you begin you journey. Drink water, lots of it, when you vape. Vaping dehydrates you and you can combat that with liquids. Also, clean everything, clothes, car, sheets, etc to remove the existing smoke smell. Once you get your smell back you'll notice how everything you have smells like smoke.

Good luck and look back here if you have more questions.

The vapor does have a smell but it doesn't linger long. Sometimes someone will walk in my house and think I'm baking or have a candle going and it's just what I've been vaping. So much nicer than smelling like cigarettes.

Glad to hear you got two of everything. Backups are super important when you are trying to quit. Good luck and let us know how it's going!

Good luck with quitting! I was actually going to suggest EVOD/Protank/Aerotank prior to seeing you'd already bought them. I started on Halo Tritons - coils with the wicks hanging down. Had nothing but trouble with them. Moved to the EVOD Glass - they're similar to Protank/Aerotank, same coils, much easier, more reliable systems. Now the only thing I'm looking to improve on is the capacity now that I know what liquids I like.

You've essentially gone the same path as me, but skipped a month of dealing with normal beginner issues :)

Got my supplies today and I am vaping right now! I am actually shocked at the throat/lung hit I am getting. I was 4.3 on the Spinner II and it's really strong so I dialed down to 3.8. Yes, I am coughing after most hits. It's stronger than I expected. The juice I am using right this minute is Flame Thrower. Tastes just like Big Red gum. I like it but I don't like the strong throat hit and coughing. I guess I will get used to that. I am also getting a bit of a head rush. Is that normal too?

I took a big step today. Went to do my grocery shopping and instead of buying a carton of analogs, I only bought 3 packs. I don't plan to cold turkey it but kinda slowly reduce my analog intake, while I increase my vaping. I have been vaping here for about 10 minutes and I am craving an analog. :(

Oh, and I currently have the Kanger Mini Pro Tank 3 on the Spinner.
