I started with the DSE-901, went to the Screwdriver, then the BE112, then the Cylon (510), and am back to the DSE-901.
I like a heavy throat hit and lots of vapor, but also something reliable and easy to maintain by blowing out the atty, and cleaning them in the ultrasonic jewelery cleaner. Also, good battery life (I use passthroughs, but they seem to give too much of a burning taste. As if the voltage is a little bit too much for the atty).
If I take the atty off of the SD/passthru and put it into a 112 battery, the burnt taste is gone...until I screw it back into the SD/passthru.
Been most satisfied with TW's tobacco flavor and JC's original. All 36mg.

Any advice? Suggestions?

(I hate starting a new thread about this, but I don't know where it'd be appropriate to post)

I would recommend a KR808 very reasonably priced and you get great throat hit from the carts.. I have now gone to 11 mg because others are too strong! I would check out Nhaler.com.. there are green cig carts that are compatable and dont burn like reg kr808 carts have TONS of vapor, easy to refill and a 2 piece ecig. You can get the 5 green cig 5 carts for 15.00 they are new and CANNOT be found anywhere else! I am setting to do a video tomorrow on these.. they are like owning a MOD!! and Drew's HV juice creats tons of vapor even on a 901 or 510! they make them work! He also has a passthough that works for the greencarts, kr808 and greencarts.. I swear tons of throat hit and vapor.. he also has a mod coming out that is going to fit the 901 and kr808 carts.. check all his reviews here: Nhaler - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

I've been reading up on this product. Isn't this a mod?

What got you off the screwdriver?

Well, it was like the passthrough issue. It seemed to give off a kind of burned taste after about 2 weeks.
Three weeks ago, I accidentally dropped it and the push button snapped off.
But it was just as a backup because of the taste. Tried many different attys, too..

I recomend 6 volts, I didn't make my mod I bought it- but I going to make another. The throat hit and amount of vapor @ 6 volts is amazing.. I only have one set of batteries cause the other set was bad, so I have to go back to the 510 during charges.. I can't believe the differance at 6 volts- I'd allmost say I should have started with a mod, but I'm glad to have my experience.

I wish I had the time to learn more about electronics...

Randall, have you tried using a PTB with your cartridges? That fixed the occasional nasty burnt taste for me. When attys get a bad taste, I dunk im in Vodka overnight. I doubt it actually cleans anything, but it does get rid of the taste in an atty gone bad.

"PTB??"
Tried running the jewelery cleaner filled with vodka for cleaning, too. Didn't work.
I probably should have mentioned that if I take the atty off of the SD/passthru and put it into a 112 battery, the burnt taste is gone...until I screw it back into the SD/passthru.

PTB = Pyramid Tea Bag. Here is Mooby's guide. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/30017-video-lipton-pyramid-tea-bag-mod.html.

I would guess you are getting more of a burnt taste using the SD because those batteries will hold a higher voltage for longer. Higher voltage = hotter atomizer. All of these batteries are around 3.7v, but the standard PV batteries drop off in voltage rather quick, whereas the SD should remain at this level for considerably longer. The passthrough will never drop in voltage it should remain constant.

Seriously though give the PTB a try. It fixed all my burnt taste issues.

I'll pick some up before I head in to work today. Thanks.

801?
I don't own anything related to the 801.
Just 901, 510 and BE112

The BE112 is actually a "classic penstyle" type atomizer - so therefore is interchangeable with an 801. :)

So I'm betting that the answer to jboze's question is, therefore, that you have a classic SD, rather than the more commonly seen original SD, which uses a 901/RN4075 atomizer. And that's why you can use the same atomizer with your SD and with a penstyle threaded battery. :D
