Now now... don't be mixing ;)

So, they couldn't do an X-Ray today? Crazy! Or... did you not make it there due to roads still?

I tried, but couldn't get my car on the road - so I struggled just to get it back in the garage - and been workin' from here all day. Got some sort of tummy bug going on - ack... and just as we're about to reach the celebratory 30 day mark (tomorrow night at midnight, technically - ticker below is a bit "off" by hours - I blame daylight savings + GMT LoL)... We never even came close to the 40+ we were supposed to have as a High today - and now tonight have more freeze warnings, etc - with all the rain still falling & freezing... 34 here now... think the high it made it to may have been 35 LoL

Nah, not mixing. No worries!

I didn't go in today. We had a meeting this morning, then Shenanigans this afternoon/evening, and my Mom had to take over for me (liability reasons - during class at least two adults need to be there. It's usually the director and me, but I'll be out of commission for a while). Tomorrow I'm going to go in to a doc in a box nearby (not the ER, no way, no how!). Not looking forward to it. I HATE going to the doctor!

Sorry to hear you're under the weather (figuratively and literally). Hope you feel better, soon. And conga rats on the 30-day mark!

LoL your altered sig explains the right foot bloodies (scissors)... next time you go to check the mail, leave the scissors inside, and WALK, don't RUN! ;)

Yeah, no kidding! Weird how I had just changed my sig to "runs with scissors", then I get myself in this mess. And the "falls on ice" part HAD to be added.

I tried to use the crutches my 5 ft tall Grandma let me borrow (I'm 5'6 and didn't adjust the height). I ended up twisting the crutches everywhere and stubbing the toe on my "good" foot, when trying to steady myself. Comedy gold.

I'm so graceful...

My mother also had a spin on the ice. She was on her way into Atlanta for Wednesday night's adult Shenanigan's class, spun out, so drove back home, and parked at the top of the driveway (which is a steep hill). She drives an Explorer, and she's only 5'3, so it's a big step getting out of the "Shenanimobile", and stepped right onto a patch of ice, and landed on her... uh... end. So she's pretty sore today, too.

Right now it's 60 degrees out, which is typical. Last night was a MESS!

PS - and I'm working right now... shhhh! don't tell anyone!

Pretty sure you're home by now, but just in case, I won't tell anyone!

Aha... you should see about changing your name here to Grace ;)

Ouch, I bet she is sore too, but thankful she's not bedridden and can help fill in for the shenanigans you'll be missing. Sounds so fun, actually! Wish you guys were up here LoL Adult class - sounds like a blast to be had!

On second thought, wish I was there - 60? Even tomorrow, our high is only set to be 34. WTF!!! Where's my warm front that caused all that ruckus? I was supposed to see a WARM FRONT!

That's the problem with where we are - the edge of everything - so we tend to experience the bad when it comes from the north, and the bad when it comes from the south... but rarely we get lucky and kinda just hit the edge of either, and don't really have the severity others get. Apparently the actual WARMTH went around us LoL

Pretty sure you're home by now, but just in case, I won't tell anyone!

eh, been home all day - doesn't stop me from working. Actually, just finished up. Spent last 2+ hrs working, but also in IM's with my boss, who signed on to do some work from home too ... LoL So, cat's outta the bag!

I've gotten that joke my whole life!

Those tailbone injuries are horrible. I got one while skating as a kid that never fully healed. And then another a couple of years ago falling down stairs... nevermind. Yeah..."Grace". I was a little sister to a frat in college, and they'd say "It's just not a party without Val falling down the stairs at least once!

And Shenanigans will probably be going nationwide in the next couple of years. We're talking to people in NY, CA, everywhere! We've got some big names coming on board!

I hear it! I work from home the days I don't have classes (and after Christmas I'll be picking up some more classes, and camps... if I don't freakin' FALL again, that is... )

Hard to stay focused working from home. I always have multiple windows open, as well as spreadsheets, etc... (and the tv) too many distractions! I kinda miss my nice cushy office (seriously, it was niiiiiiice! No cubicles for Neems!), but then again at home I can catch up on things at 3 am if I slack during the day. It happens.

Slacking? Yeah, it definitely happens! & Yup, that's how I "make up for it"... workin' odd hours - and accomplish a lot more than I woulda in the office, and don't feel like it's eaten up too much of my personal life (my dog and hubby would beg to differ tho).

Nationwide is fine, as long as Val comes with the package out this way!

I did the ol' lower back injury as a kid too - slammed by the blade of a sleigh-style sled, as I just hit the bottom of the hill - in came the other folks. Since then too, I'm sure I've broken the ol' tailbone at least once or twice. Upper back? that's probably 100% stress related ;)

Neemy -

Just tuned in and read about your fall and illness.
Thinking of you and sending a big hug.

Sorry to read about your mom's fall too.

You've had a tough go of it. Hope tomorrow is better and REALLY praying your foot / ankle is not broken. That is not fun. I did that once and trust me, you don't want to have a broken foot / ankle.

Hope you are sleeping ok. Something tells me you are having a rough night of sleep.

Aw, thank you, Paula! Sending a hug back, just because. :)

I took some pics a few minutes ago, unwrapped the "good foot" (which is a mild sprain), and took the brace off the bad ankle (severe sprain - have to see an orthopedic specialist after Christmas for a CAT scan, and rehab. Possibility of surgery depending on how bad the ligaments are torn.)

So this is my "good" foot. Slight swelling and bruising around the ankle bone, down toward my foot. Not too bad. Except that it's my supporting foot, so crutches don't do me much good, as they exacerbate the healing of that one!

d4770da9.jpg

And this is my "bad" ankle (severe sprain, grade 3). The doctor was almost certain it was fractured, but the x-rays showed nothing! Which would normally be good news, except she told me since I've sprained this ankle not too long ago, that left it vulnerable to future worse sprains. So bones are fine, ligaments... not-so-much (that was going on palpation, I have to get a CAT scan to see what the real damage is, but it doesn't look good). So... now I have ankles like an elephant.

Close up of the most swollen area (the pics don't do it justice, believe me! It's HUGE)

I didn't take pics of my knee. I can barely look at it. Doc cleansed it with Betadine (which - seriously - almost made me pass out. My Mom was in the room with me and said "You're as white as a ghost!" and the doctor told me to lie back on the table. I'm such a wuss!

) She put antibiotic ointment on it and wrapped it in gauze.

WOW!! Sorry to hear about your injuries Neemy!! I'm a little slow getting around to things, and I guess this isn't all about the weather anymore... View attachment 26032 I hope that Santa brought some nice things to help cheer you up!!

I did come over here to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and to share a pic of the sunset here last night (Christmas Eve). After a week straight of pounding rain... complete with floods and mudslides, we finally had a break in the storm!!

(I really don't live quite that close to the ocean... I had to zoom in a little... ha!!)

But seriously, it was my mom's place, and I had to fight to keep it when she passed away in 2008, so I feel very blessed to be living here...

At this moment it's warmer on the Oregon coast than it is here in the Florida Panhandle (48° vs. 41) ... but, that's pretty common in Winter.

Get well soon Neemy!

Thank you! I'm healing pretty well. My right foot is now the one that is hurting because I've been using that more than my left, and it hasn't had a chance to heal.

So, I'm wondering, fellow southerners... what's going on at your house?? I have had the Weather Channel on for a few hours (I'm such a dork) wondering when it was going to hit us here in Marietta, and it wasn't until the dog had to go out that I realized it HAS hit us! We've got a good 2 inches on the ground at the moment.

I hope this makes sense; school's been closed and I've had a few... (yes, again...) IN MY DEFENSE: there is nothing else to do, and it was my son's birthday today!! It's been one of those weekends, yanno? :p

I don't think we've really started getting hit yet... or just really started. Only about half an inch of powdery dust on the roads. They're saying 95% chance of 1 to 3 inches by 1pm. Considering a work from home day, or vacation. Just can't decide! Took Friday as vacation (and worked half of it), and there are a few things I need to get done. Maybe I'll work half of it LoL

Weather Channel can be fun! Gets repetitive after a bit, but during storms like what you got and we're about to get hit with, you get to see some real interesting panic.

edit: Wow - just loaded radar map, and oddly, 95% of it was blue... yeah, don't think we're getting the 'edge' of this one, we're in the thick of it!

We've got about 4-5 inches on the ground, now. Gotta turn on TWC again and find out what the latest is. All I know is ice is a big concern (and I reeeeeeeeeeally don't wanna slip, again!!!!)

No - you stay put young lady! TV duty for you!

Gotta go check on the dog... see if she's turned white yet!

OMFG Whoa! That's gotta be a record!

We haven't had snow like this since '93!

I was just outside playing in it with the dog. She is *totally* confused by all this freezing white stuff, but she loves it! I took some video I'll upload later when I get it all put together.

Edit: Ha! People are literally skiing on the roads, here!

Wow, that's cool (cold) Neemy! haha! Looking forward to your video. I was there for Atlanta's snow 11 months ago (Feb 2010). I drove up from Panama City as the snow came in, hit it at Dothan, Alabama and it snowed steady the rest of the 220 miles to Buckhead. It was the first time I'd driven in snow since the early 1980s, in Colorado. And, the very first time in my present car ... which handled the slippery stuff magnificently.

Looks like you got 2 or 3 times as much this time as when I was there. Just, WOW!

Video! :)
