I bought a new atty as the 306 was really a bust... I tested it out with PV's from a few shops. It really didn't produce much vapor.

I got a regular 510 atty because 1) hadn't read your posts about the 901 and 2) I saw that among the atties I've had, the 510 performed the best.

I wonder how long this will last, though. I thought my 510LR was great at producing vapor... apparently, this regular 510 beats that. I guess the 510LR is on its last legs... probably nearing death, but nothing like the 306 I had. That was just pathetic.

For you to be happy, you want 7 watts of power. Trust me :) So to figure your power (watts), V squared / resistance (ohms).
Multiply your voltage you are going to use by iteself... 4.8v X 4.8v = 23.04. Then... 23.04 / 3.2 ohms (901 atty) = 7.2 watts... the sweet spot you are looking for. That is what my Puck is designed around.

If you want to use a regular 510 atty, it's about 2 ohms so you get about 11.52. Too high for me but a lot of people like it. If you are using a 510LR, thats even more watts and really is too many. A 510LR was designed to be run at 3.7 volts. Most put out about 8.5 watts at 3.7 volts.

So use a little "ohm's law" to get 7 watts and you really will like it. :)

I've been using the CE2s with 50/50 mixes, wicks great, mostly clear juices.
Using 2.9 ohm lately, but have used 2.6 ohm without issue, just pulse the button
on and off, lowers the heat. PWM pulse width modulation the Puck way, cheap and
easy, use your thumb instead of an IC chip....:)

p.s. the mini looks great.....now I have to build another...

heh heh, Stosh :D

Yeah, good looking mod there fun!

I've been using the 3.2 ohm clearos with the Pucks from the start. I DIY my e-liquid and have made from 25%VG up to 45%VG with no problems - and I vape prolly 5-15 times/minute

I was working on a 3 2AAA box one; batts on the outer boxes, middle as control box. But then I got distracted - man, that happens a lot to me; maybe I should get some Ritalin  :D

I made a puck mod last night using your website. It was fun ! Mine is put together slightly differently using only superglue to hold the boxes together and a premade led/resistor combo that screws in next to a 510 sealed connector. Also used a horn switch from mad vapes. No need for any gluing (besides the halves). There is so much room for expansion as I am either going to install a Ti ptr 8100 switching regulator to wheel potentiometer for variable voltage ... or use a ptn 4050 booster to do the same thing. I would like to be able to turn it down for single coil cartos. They tend to burn the juice. But for a dual coil carto like I am using... it hits harder than my Ego W VV on full blast ! ! Awesome Idea with tons of room for customizing. Thank you so much !

i sure agree with the battery choice .allready had a smart charger and batterys
so im building a modefied puck . i am using double a s instead of tripple a
using 1 box for 4 batterys and cut the other about in half and glued it to the edge .(no epoxy dont work good enuf )
use abs glue ! works great ..stong welds.
now having problems with the voltage regulator ....allways some thing
have funn rolf

I built one last night to specs described in the tutorial. It hits like a Mack Truck compared to my old eGo, and works wonderfully. I sometimes forget to turn the main switch on though, and look really closely at the LED like, WTF^^?? Then I remember there's a power switch on it, and laugh at myself. I love this thing, and will probably use it more often than I think after I get my SB in the mail... especially with a tank on the end of it instead of a stripped 510 atty. The hand size of this piece is going to be much less attention grabbing than the large stick look of the SB, so more effective for indoor college use. lol.

I've been playing with mods for a while now and have hit upon the perfect combination. I have been using my prototype exlcusively for almost 7 months now. I vape nothing else and it is the same or better experience than smoking regualr cigs. Thanks to all of the modders here because I got some good ideas from them.

The Puck... So far I've not seen anything exactly like but, similar, but not exact. The Puck is a small battery box mod that has one box for the battery compartment and another for the electronics goodies. It's small, fits in the hand well and vapes solid for a good day and night.

I'm not sure why there is not more of this around the forum but I am exclusively using NiMH batteries. Why? Because you can buy them anywhere, they can be FULLY CHRAGED in 15 MINUTES and they last 24 hours. They provide so much more smoke than the standard 901 batteries and last longer. I have been using 2 sets of 4 AAA NiMH batteries for almost 7 months and they still crank as well as the day I bought them. I have a charger I bought that fully charges them in 15 minutes. Try that with Lion batteries.

Description and Specs... The Puck (cause it looks like a square hocky puck and also happens to be part of my last name), consists of 2 4AAA battery boxes back to back. One holds the batteries, the other holds the atomizer, large push button switch, on-off switch and a colored LED.

The LED is a slow changing color type that I use as a performance indicator. The LED is red when you first hit the vape button. If you find yourself holding the button down until the LED turns green, your batteries need to be charged or you need to top off your cart.

The balance of the ~4.8 volts with the 901 atomizer makes for a really great vape. I stumbled upon this combination and have never turned to anything else. You must try it to see what I mean.

The best thing about The Puck is... all parts can be bought at Radio Shack except the 901 atomizer itself and the slow color change LED. The boxes, atomizer connector and push button switch all come from Radio Shack. You can use a regular LED if you prefer but I like the slow color change LED to use as a performance indicator.

I use an Energizer NiMH charger that charges 4 AA or 4 AAA batteries in 15 minutes (at home or with the car adapter). I can show it also if there is interest.

If there is interest in this, I will post a tutorial on how to build yourself one. Attached is some pics...

Hi, have read your post and its intrigued me so i went to radio shack and bought 4 aa battery holder and just sticked it into altoids tin box!!!!! All i want to say is thank you for giving every one this vonderfull idea.

I was bored about three weeks ago and built one. It is rock solid...

I used the connector off the top of a busted riva & used two AAA boxes. I even have the riva 510 cone on top.

I'm using a 510 boge lr cartomizer w/10mg vermillion river minnesota menthol and a smoketech 1.7 ohm single coil cart w/6 mg boba's bounty. I get about 12 hours w/rayovac nimh batteries.

This thing rocks...

Using a LR Atty? Man, you must like your vapor strong :) I must admit though that I occasionally use a 1.6 dual coil tank on mine also, which hits like a rock. Only on days I really need it. My main atty choice is still my 901 3 ohm for my best all round Puck vape :)

Put up a pic when you get a chance :)

I do like the vapor quite strong...I don't really have a camera so I made a video lol :)

I'm using a boge lr cartomizer at first and then the smoktech. Thanks for this tutorial!
