Okay, one more question . . . I have smoked Capri 120's for the last 25 years or so. They are long, light, and skinny and I only smoke the first half. That should tell you a few things (like how much money I've wasted on smoking, how light a nicotine person I am, etc.) A normal Capri cig didn't "fit" me because it was too strong after just a couple of drags. So, knowing that I can vape inside now and may be vaping more than I used to go outside to smoke, I was going to stay with the 6-9mg nic level. I have not decided on PG or VG or the mix. Any opinions on that for a newbie? Leaning toward the 50/50 mix.

If you are ordering from ecigexpress, they are very very good! I've ordered from them numerous times. That's where I get my PG/VG nico base etc for making my own juice.

I have to order for 100mg nic soon. I noticed the price was pretty good, so I might get some from them this go around.

Vg will mute throat hit and flavor but give more vapor,
I use 6mg nic and have done so since day 1 of vaping. I was. 1 1/2 pack a day smoker of Marlboro smooth. I like the 6mg because I want to vape constantly.

I use 70pg/30vg. It gives lots of vapor without muting flavor and throat hit. Also, the more vg you have, the thicker the juice, the more you will have to clean or replace cartomizers and atomizers.

I was going to stay with the 6-9mg nic level.
It seems you're a light smoker so 9 mg is prolly best. Most start at 18 or 24 mg. 12 mg may even be ok cuz the nic is not absorbed as much or as quickly as analogs. If you did get 12 mg and it was too strong easy enuff to buy some PG and VG and cut it down whereas with a lower nic level a lot harder to up the mg- you'd have to buy some pure nic juice.
Juice ingredients
Flavor
PG enhances flavor, lung hit and TH- water like
VG= Vapor- very thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and need for nicotine.
Standards are 70/ 30 or 80/ 20 PG/ VG. I vape 60/ 40. Realize high VG ratios clog up cartos quicker and sometimes don't wick properly.
Although expensive here's a storefront in LA for juice emergencies

Good Luck.

I will say that you should make sure you get enough nic. You want to make sure you stay on the ecig. I was a heavy smoker so I really don't have much experience with low nic.

Here is the difference between pg and vg:

PG is thin. VG is very thick

PG will allow more throat hit from available nicotine. VG will mute the throat hit to a degree.

VG will mute the flavorings to a degree. VG has some built in sweetness to it.

VG may cause atomizers to gunk up more and shorten the life.

VG is harder to wick.

VG is harder to work with. Example: Cartomizer type tanks you need more holes or slots cut in the cartomizer to get the thick VG liquid to seep into the cartomizer.

Some people have allergies to PG

Too much PG can cause some throat irritation.

VG produces more clouds of vapor.

If that's the case then go with the 6 mg. Not the end of the world and if need be you can always buy a week's worth at the store.
Good Luck.

The low dose gum and patches make me nauseous and heart race and drove me back to smoking. I know I'm a weird smoker to feel/be so addicted to such a low level of nicotine. So, I'm thinking the low nic will be the safest route - it's still some nicotine to fight off the cravings but won't make me turn green I hope.
