Annnd here we go again.

Mother's e-cigarette EXPLODED after she left it plugged into her car for just ten minutes - melting through the back seat and filling vehicle with noxious black smoke
... and that's just the headline.

From the piece: "Ms Taylor's e-cigarette and charger were made by Prestige vaping but the adapter she used to charge it was bought from elsewhere."

According to Ms Taylor, 'On the packaging, it does not say you have to use their adaptor, so I have done nothing wrong.'

However the piece doesn't mention whose car charger/adaptor she used, and whether it had a manual or restrictions on use on its packaging... but that's not important, as long as e-cigs look bad...

these things will happen.
how many cell phone batteries blew up yesterday?
as compared to e-cig batteries,a lot i bet.
a e-cig charger made for a certain type battery should work on all batteries of that type
with no danger.the caveat being a very few use a reverse polarity from the spec for that type,
and a very many use the data bus to check for product i.d. and wont work,or not work as well
for another brand battery of the same type.this should not result in an explosion however.
this is for devices whose batteries were never intended to be replaced of course.
:2c:

My first thought was that anyone who wears a fuzzy pink panda sweater deserves what she gets, but to say that would be mean-spirited so I won't say it...

But seriously, as someone tweeted yesterday, millions of ecigs were charged today, and all but one or two didn't explode. So let's keep it in perspective.

Unfortunately, as long as one ANTZ remains alive and kicking, these articles will appear regularly. (The good news is it keeps us up to date on exactly how many batteries are, in fact, causing problems. And so far, the answer is: not very many!)

The e-cig committed hari-kari just to get away from that sweater wearer person.

Oh, love how they dragged the kid into all the staged shots, especially when no one - especially not the kid - was in the car when it happened. That one gets :facepalm::facepalm:

I blame the fuzzy sweater.

Note to self: Do not allow fuzzy pink panda sweaters near charging batteries... (Me personally, I would try to avoid fuzzy pink panda sweaters at all costs, anywhere, but maybe that's just me...)

I agree, the photo looks off...

Prudence dictates that you not charge an ecig battery in your car unless you know your car's electrical system. And you NEVER leave a charging battery unattended, especially in a car!

Are so many people these days unable to say "It's my fault"?

Thanks a heap you guys. The more I look at that picture the weirder it looks. In the other picture in the article he's smaller than her, it that picture he actually looks larger than her with an enlarged head. And the shirt will probably give me nightmares.

Godzilla VS. Giant Toddler Head!!!!! Coming to a theater near you Spring 2014.

I think a "deadly silent" took out that car seat. I mean - c'mon - just look at the shape of the damage!

Le sigh... Another staged photo of mother and child panhandling to raise funds for car repairs.

The reason for the weirdness of the first photo becomes apparent in the second - wide angle lens overkill. May have actually used a fish eye lens to take all that in in the "giant baby head" photo.
