I saw another doctor in my regular doc's practice today due to some scheduling issues. He read my history and asked about the tongue cancer diagnosis. He asked if there were any contributing factors, and I laughed and said "...you mean like 30+ years of smoking??" Of course I told him that I don't do that anymore, and that I haven't touched a cig since the day of my diagnosis. I showed him my eGo and iClear setup that I carry with me. He wrote down my quit date in my file.
He asked me "why is it so BIG?" and I explained about the larger battery providing a more satisfying vape and longer vape time, and how the iClear was refillable. I told that for a dedicated smoker like myself (haha), it can take more than what a small cig-sized battery can offer to be able to quit long term. I told him that if he ever has anyone who is trying to make e-cigs work and isn't satisfied with their cig-a-like set up, he can tell them that there are larger batteries that can help. I explained that being able to substitute a safer alternative that also satisfied the urge and habit of smoking was a godsend for me. He agreed.
This doc never once scolded me for using an e-cig. He congratulated me over and over for quitting smoking. He listened to my lungs and said "the pipes sound good". I asked him if I was rattling at all and he said NO (docs had been telling me about the rattling for years). He said my lungs sound like a non-smoker's and I should be very proud and happy about quitting. He asked if I planned to stop vaping at any point and I said that right now I'm not sure- that my goal at the moment was to keep from smoking analogs and that since it was working I was sticking with it. He had no argument, he said that was fine with him as long as it kept me away from the tobacco.
It was a VERY positive experience and a good reinforcement for what I'm doing. Yay me
