Hi all!! I started smoking when I was 12, and by the time I was 14, I was well into a PAD habit.

I managed to quit cold turkey a few times, but always came back to smoking for one excuse or another.

By the time I was 40, I was a three PAD smoker, and had been for at least a decade.

In April, 2011, I met the woman who would become my wife. After we'd been seeing each other for a few months, she asked me if I could maybe just cut down a bit. Being all in love and stuff, I told her that I'd do better than that: I'd just quit!! (That was the second biggest mistake I ever made; the biggest mistake I ever made was picking up that second cigarette when I was 12.) A few months later, I was juggling NLA cig-a-likes and Marlboro ultra lights. Earlier this year, I decided to jump in with both feet and bought a starter kit from MasterVape. It was an overpriced 650mAh fixed voltage batt with disposable clearo and neat carrying case, but it really helped get me to where I needed to be.

It's been a struggle, but now I'm on a good routine. I have two eGo C Twist 900mAh batteries, a Boge Vivi Nova, and my new favorite, a Kanger ProTank. Currently, I'm vaping Monica's Eyes at 18mg, and am seriously considering getting a Vamo.

I've been completely cig free for just under two months, stopped buying them a year and a half ago, and have no cravings at all for cigs. I feel like I just stood up at an AA meeting for the first time...

Welcome to ECF. You found a great bunch of people and a great source of information. I am just starting out, my first kit is in the mail (a Spinner) so I can not offer you a lot of advice. But with the huge assortment of devices at a multitude of price ranges I am sure you will find something you enjoy using. My suggestion would be to go to a local vape shop and see what there is in person. I was amazed at the variety and how different they were in person rather than just looking at them on the internet.

You sound like you have a pretty good handle on your situation. I hope to be where you are soon. Congrats.

Not trying to sound like a fanboi, but I have an iTaste MVP and a Vamo. Although the iTaste is smaller, lighter and more comfortable, I find myself using the Vamo more and more. It *does* pack a better punch. Also, if you think you'll ever be interested in wrapping your own coils, the Ohm reading on the Vamo is much handier than futzing with an ohmmeter.

One word of warning though, upgrade the battery charger that comes with the Vamo. Its my understanding that it doesn't turn itself off after charging, increasing the likelihood of blown batteries or starting a fire.

Upgrading the batteries would be a good thing too. The two 900mah batteries in my Vamo seem to die anywhere between 8 and 10 at night. The 3000mah batteries available would even beat my iTaste's insanely long times between recharges.

have fun!

Thanks, Shari!! I have been to two local shops. One is a bit out of the way for me, but the other is super close to where I work. That's the one that I buy my juices from. They have APVs, but seem to only have the standard eGo batteries, the MVP (almost never in stock), and Provaris. (The real drag about this shop is that they only carry disposable clearos and cartotanks, or rebuildables that are a bit pricey. i bought my ProTank online.) I'm going in there today to get more Monica's Eyes and some Nombombz from Halcyon, so I'll have another look.

The thing is that I have a 45 mile one way commute, so I'm usually in and out of that shop as fast as possible. There are no shops where I live. At least, none that I've found.

You'll totally get there. It does take a little getting used to, and a commitment. But you'll get there.
