I have been struggling with getting flavor out of my Zenith clone. I used to get decent flavor on a .8ohm microcoil (28ga Kanthal around a 5/64 bit), but I cannot recreate it or get decent flavor out of anything else. I did a diamond coil. Nothing. Macro coil, still nothing. Right now I have a .7 ohm twisted microcoil (twisted 28ga, 7 wraps on a 5/64 bit). I can at least tell what flavor I have, but just the faintest hit. I have gone higher ohms, lower ohms, higher watts, lower watts, less cotton. I have moved the coil closer to the airhole and further away. I am going insane! I get way better flavor out of my Delta II. Any suggestions?

Edit: When I do get flavor, it tastes like the juice has already been "cooked." I don't think I can possibly use any less cotton though. I am getting so frustrated. Also, if this needs to be moved to rda, please do so. I didn't realize there was a subforum when I was on my phone

Your problem is the Delta II is much more flavorful an atomizer than the Zenith and many atomizers from that "era" a year or so ago.

From the looks of it you also need more cotton.

Try this...

Do a 26 gauge, dual coil 3mm build to hit .5ohm resistance... could be 6-7 wraps or abouts. Wick with ample Japanese organic cotton pad... you peel each "outer layer" off each side of the pad and only use the fluffy bit inside. You want more cotton then you think in there... but not so much so that it's very hard to get it into the coil. It should slide snugly in the coil. Also - don't do any "twisting". It's a waste of wire and lets juice burn and gunk in all sorts of nasty crevices. Use 26g to get better results than twisted 28g.

Other than the particular characteristics of that atomizer . . . .

that's a 22mm atty? That'd be a dual coil atty then. There's just too much chamber in there to create enough punch with a single coil. So, yeah, dual coil build is necessary.

also: I'd raise that coil up. I get the flavor that I prefer when my coil is just above center on the airhole. Like, at least ↓ this high .. .
