Hi guys,

Great forum. I've learned a lot lurking for the last few days.

There is a lot of info here (almost too much lol) but it's probably kept me from ordering something I wouldn't be happy with.:thumb:

Anyways, I've smoking since I was a teenager, I'm 31 now. I've quit a few times but it never sticks and I always go back to it. I currently smoke 1-1.5 packs of Camel lights per day and I would probably smoke a lot more than that if I could afford it. lol

I ran into someone with an e-cig at a wedding recently. He bought it in a mall Kiosk, paid way to much, and it hardly worked. He was bumming smokes off me.... but it got me interested in the idea anyways and here I am.

I'm looking to order a 510 as that seems to be a good unit to start with based on what I've read here and what i've seen on youtube. I like the idea of a manual button for that extra control but I will probably have to adjust to not smoking hands free.

I've also seen some great reviews of the DSE901 and I have to say I like it's whistle type tip and it's ability to be smoked hands free, but I keep reading that the 510 is the way to go.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what e-liquid I should order? strenght? flavor?

If I like vaping, I'm pretty sure I would do it a lot, so I can't figure out what nic content I should order. I don't want to over do it on the nic but I would like enough to keep the cravings away as I switch over.

I'm not really big on sweet stuff, but I'm willing to try them. Something simial to my camel lights would be nice. Clove, Red Bull, Dr. Pepper, and something minty also sound interesting.

Right now I'm looking at either eastmall or Totally Wicked for my first order.

Thanks!:D

You can't go wrong with either of those supplers for liquid - Eastmall and TW are top notch! But, a suggestion - order smaller bottles at first until you are happy with what you're putting in your PV.

As far as liquid strength - I advocate middle to low strength, with maybe 1 bottle of high strength if you're going to bulk buy. Most new vapers like to use their devise as a pacifier, and there's the very real possiblility of vaping yourself sick if all you have is high strength liquids. But keep the high to ward off any intense cravings for tobacco.

Flavors? I'll let someone else handle that, as you're not into the sweet stuff, and I'm pretty much dedicated to cola's and chocolates.

welcome to vaping!

I had almost the same introduction as you, except ive been smoking 1.5 packs of camel lights for about 2 years, not 13+! I just got the 510 yesterday, and so far im pretty convinced that I will be able to quit smoking analogs and keep just to this. Infact I really dont have a choice, I promised my wife if I bought this that id quit, so I think I have 1 more analog left in my pack and then its no more trips to the gas station for me! The starter kit I bought came with both a manual battery and a non manual battery. I seem to get WAY more vapor with the manual and actually enjoy smoking it more than the non manual. I cant compare it to any others, but I think I made the correct choice. I bought it from vaporstation and got their VS texas medium strength liquid,. its OK, definately not like a camel light though. Unfortunately its the only juice ive tried so I cant help you find one to replace the camels (although if you find a good one, let me know!). I guess all I can really help you with is to say I went from camel lights to the 510 and am happy with my choice.

Thanks for the tips so far guys!

It's great to hear that others are able to put their old smokes down so soon after getting one of these. I pretty much freak out if I have to go more than 4-6 hours without a smoke, and this is the first thing that looks like it will work.

My girlfriend will be thrilled if this works.

oh and another thing i want to add, i didnt realize this until after i had recieved it, but the battery only lasts 2-3 hours, depending on how much your vape of course. if you are away from power outlets to charge the battery for long periods of time you'll want to get a PCC or buy an extra battery or 3, the PCCs are like 30 bucks or so, batterys i think are aound 15-20. good luck!

As far as juice... my recommendation would be to get at least one bottle of a flavor that would be similar to what you've been smoking (for myself, it was finding a good menthol flavor). While some of the other flavors can be rather exotic and interesting, I feel that having my "core" flavor is an absolute MUST whenever I have an urge for analogs. As a matter of fact, I even have an extra bottle of it that's one nicotine strength higher for more intense moments.

Thanks guys.

Can anyone suggest a liquid that will be close to my camel lights?

I'm definetly planning to grab like a sample pack or two, an extra battery, and probably a pcc to get me through my long work days and other long outings.

I'll probably look into a passthrough or something like a janty stick to use at home if battery life becomes an issue.

I'm thinking some stronger juice would be good for work. I don't get many breaks and I don't think vaping at my desk would go over well as I'm in a shared work area and I'm on camera all day. Then a lower level juice for evenings/weekends where I'll probably be using it a lot more.

BigB, I recommend you take a look at the Janty Stick. Although it looks like a x-breed between a cigarette-like and a screwdriver, it produces a lot of vapor with great throat hit. I have smoked analogs for 33 years, 1 MLB pack a day, and I don't touch one of those for a while now.
PS: I fell for the same "mall trap" you did... :)

Do you have the Janty Stick? There are alot of people on this very site who are having alot of problems right now with it! Janty site is shut down right now, probably because of the problems. Please read through all the threads and posts before reccomending it to someone else.

go with your gut......510. A lot of the above info was good like the pcc and multiple strength nicotine ...do get some high and medium..nothing tastes like camel lights because you are not going to light it up, but some of the tobacco flavors are good.(not marlboro) get some tobacco and something like redbull or dr.pepper like you mentioned
I smoked 2+packs of camel lights a day for 20 years and after day 2 you'll hate the taste of camel lights and love the taste of whatever you're vapin...

also right now ruyan direct has smoking deals on the 510, the only drawback is it may take 7-10 days, but it seems the u.s suppliers are out of stock currently anyway. If u want it quicker check .....widowsbeadwork.com,electronic-stix,

If you are looking for a jolt of nicotine vapor go with the 901 or 510. Go with the SD or Janty Stick or one of the other vapor blasters for more vapor/throat hit if the 901/510 doesn't work for you.

My experience is that the flavor of higher nic content liquids (16 and above) is lost on these devices, they all taste about the same, but deliver a wicked hit.

I use an original 901 and a M401. The 901 satisfies my nic cravings while I savor the liquid flavors with my 401.

I have a stick.....and yes, there were a lot of problems with the first production run. I was one of the lucky ones... my stick is a powerhouse, and other than some leakage, works fine. Once Janty get all the bugs worked out, I feel it's going to be a popular item.

I would, however, in light of the issues other users are having, stay away from the stick for a month or 2 to give Janty time to work out their issues. Learn the ropes with a simpler gizmo, first.

Whichever you decide - get one. Pick a unit and get it in your hands. You'll find a lot of the information on this board will make MUCH more sense once you can see, feel, and experience vaping for yourself. You will probably switch equipment, but your beginner PV can always serve as a back up.

Hi BB! Another newbie here! I just got a Janty stick and I have to say it is fabulous. I started vaping Apri 8 and was getting really frustrated. I bought a generic mini first and then a generic pen style. The batteries did not last long and it seems like I was always charging batteries or running out of e liquid. ( I smoked 1 1/2 packs too)

I wish the Janty Stick had been available and I would have saved some money!! I swear this is the closest thing to an analog (regualr cig) I have found. The flavors of the juice are so much more pronounced.

This is just my opinion but quality does matter. As I tell my art students, buy the best products you can afford you will have better results. As when learning anything new, be patient with yourself it is a tad different than smoking but in the long run you will feel soooo much better!! Best of luck and happy vaping.

Got my 510 today and love it. The throat hit is similar and slightly more than my pen style. The crackle you hear with the manual button is nice, let's you know it's working hard to produce a good hit. I got the CAMEL flavor in LOW, not sure yet how I feel about it as it smells strongly odd, almost bitter and harsh but I can also tell the similarity. After a few days I have a feeling I'd be convinced it's Camel Cig. I'll know more after the weekend and after a couple beers. So far, A+ on the 510. The Evo gets an A for vapor production and smoothness - it's more refreshing. Flavor 555 is my favorite as it's got a nice tobacco flavor with a strong addicting nutty sweet aroma A+A+A+
The PCC is very good for the 510, I like the fact that I'll break-down the cig inbetween smokes, it gives you more of a feeling of the end of the cigarette, rather than puff puff puffing away constantly. A+A+

Allright. I think I've got it narrowed down to this for my first order from Eastmall:

510 starter kit
1 extra 510 battery
5 extra empty carts
510 PCC

and a sample pack of 18mg 20ml bottles:
Camel
555/State Express
Ruyan (RY4)
Red Bull
Clove
Menthol

$137.50

I think I'll sleep on it and purchase in the morning unless someone thinks I should change something.
