Another Newbie.....Hallelujah!!

I've been following this site for about a month and the links to many of the supplier websites to take a look. I registered today and need all the help and encouragement I can get. I read all the stickies. Now I am confused...not about what to buy, but what I need. I do not smoke a pack a day (rarely) and only take maybe 5 drags off of a cigarette. I smoke American Spirit-medium. Do you suggest that I start with 18mg. I've been looking at the Provari...expensive, I know, and look how fast I'll save that money. Also, I'm confused about what parts I need. There are special tips to drip juice in, etc. I saw a review of Provari @ecigaddict.com. It was a sweet set up with a tank, clear, glass maybe (I don't have a clue). This is so embarassing. How do I smoke an e-gigarette? Do I take it to my mouth like a cigarette?...push the button...and drag.

You can start with 18, the only way you'll know what's right for you is to start somewhere and adjust as needed. The big difference in inhaling is to drag then open your mouth a little to add some air as you inhale. Otherwise you'll probably cough.

Hang in with the forum, you'll get a lot of help and support, bit by bit.

Real simple answer from me and welcome to ECF. I would recommend the eGo batteries with a 510 atomizer and cartridge. You can buy a kit that has say 2 eGo batteries of 650 Mha or higher, they come with 2 atomizers and 5 cartridges. This set up will allow you to have both batteries charged (or use one while the other is charging) or keep two different flavors going simultaneously. At under a pack a day of American Spirits, you'll find anything over 18 mg in nicotine too harsh. My smoking habits were close to yours in volume and brand (American Spirit Yellows).

I'm finding sometimes the 18 mg is great in conjunction with another set up of 10-12 mg. Gives a nice variety of both throat hit and flavor.

You won't need the drip tips, the tanks, etc. You may eventually want to switch to cartomizers (that is an atomizer with a built in cartridge) as those will hold more liquid for your daily pleasure.

Hope this helps!

Welcome to ECF.

You just start with smoking as you did with a cigarette. It may be necessary to adjust how you vape later. It just depends on what works for you and sometimes that also depends on what PV you have. Vaping is an individual journey as are your favorite flavors of ejuice. We are all different.

I have a Provari and love it. The one you saw probably had a carto tank on it. Most tanks are made of polycarbonate, although there are some stainless steel and pyrex ones as well. Some citrus or cinnamon juices are hard on poly so some people opt for a tank made of a different material. Then end caps can be made of delrin, stainless steel, or aluminium depending on where you buy it and what you opt for.

If you buy a Provari, get the extended cap, 18650 batteries, a battery charger, and cartos or a carto tank, and a drip tip which is just for ease and comfort.

Actually, you will save money in the long run by starting with a top of the line mod instead of working up to it with lots of various starter PVs.

Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. Definitely a step in the right direction! I started vaping about 18 months ago and my nic content is 12mg. But I was never a heavy smoker. You'll definitely have to adjust as you go to find what best suits you. The great thing about vaping is the variety. You never have to settle and become complacent with one thing. You can change your setup whenever you want! I started with an ego that had a 510 connection. I used cartomizers to eliminate having to drip so often. With all the variations in setups, the basics are the same. You'll need a battery, atomizer or cartomizer, and e liquid of your choice.

Congratulations on your decision and welcome to ECF!

I remember how awkward it felt the first time I used an ecig. The sensation of putting my mouth onto an electronic device and trying to "smoke" it was just so foreign that I laughed every time I put the e cig up to my lips!

My suggestion is to not think too hard about it and let the method come to you ( I know, a lot of help, right??) I personally inhale into my mouth (drags are often MUCH longer than with a cigarette) and then inhale the vapor as well as air. You will learn quickly through experience.

Also, ECF is a fantastic resource, but YouTube has countless videos that can help tremendously! Just don't let the plethora of devices and technology confuse you--it is all essentially the same. You'll sort through all of that with time. For now, try your best to learn what you can and most of all, enjoy vaping!

Lool up "the ecigarette mods data base" and a world of visual and critical info on each site that produces great products is individualy listed, and way easy to use and understand. This is a great starting point. You will get great advise here at ECF but it WILL get overwhelming. This site will help you figure out at least what you don't want. Then look at all the sugestions from there.

The most important thing is something that works simple and always. A lot of Ego stuff is great, in fact realy great, but alot is crapp, and finicky. Pluss there is sooooo many styles of Ego it is easy to get lost in it all. I always listen to the experts with alot of posts.

I prefer HS Echo because its like an Ego, but fool proof. Not saying get this, because there is a lot of great stuff, just saying it is fool proof and works everytime for me and what I want in a ecig.

Good luck. Hope your time at ECF is as wonderfull as mine. Welcom home, your always wanted here.
