hi all
what a brilliant site this is! I've learned so much from reading these forums...I wish I'd known about it before I started buying random e-cig kits and being disappointed! I'm a long-time, heavy smoker...have tried giving up on a few occasions but my heart was never really in it. I'm resigned to the fact that I LIKE the kick from the nicotine and I like the sensation of smoking...the only thing I don't like is the health worries, the stains, and constantly fishing bits of baccy out of my keyboard with a paperclip. I saw someone vaping at work about a month ago and thought it looked like the perfect solution for me...I'd still get my nic-kicks, I'd still be able to enjoy the ritual of smoking, but with none of the other nonsense. All I had to do was choose which e-cig to buy and I'd be sorted, right? Wrong..lol Blimey...at that point I had no idea of all the different kits and setups available (I'd only seen the e-cigs...the lookalike ones)...I thought VG stood for very good, and PG was a brand of tea bags. To cut a long story short, I've tried the Vapestick kit and Skycig kit...I found the Vapestick cartomisers were absolutely rank...smelled and tasted like burned plastic with a hint of ammonia thrown in. I put the kit in the back of the drawer and stocked up on drum...lol A couple of weeks later I ordered the Skycig kit and was more impressed...only liked one flavour out of the 5 samples but the others weren't unpleasant. In fact I liked one flavour so much that I chain-vaped for 3 days (I've never really been one for 'moderation'...lol). I didn't miss my real tobacco at all which was a revelation...I was very impressed! But by the third day I felt so ill...my throat was swollen and I could hardly talk...I was constantly thirsty and felt dehydrated...I was so disappointed but I had to stop vaping. I went back to smoking my rollies feeling very deflated...I resigned myself to being someone who just couldn't get on with vaping.
I had a look online to see if my symptoms were really caused by the e-cig and that's when I discovered this forum...and a wealth of information and experience. And I'm soooo glad that I did! Having spent the last week lurking and reading the threads I've realised my vaping technique was all wrong, I learned about VG/PG and different ratios, and I found links to some great websites for buying stuff. So I'm trying vaping again but this time I'm experimenting with filling my empty skycig carts...I can't justify spending any more money on equipment until after christmas so I'm just going to try out some different e-liquid mixes and flavours. Got my first order today...roasted coffee and bitter chocolate flavours...the bitter choc is bloody lovely! I had to resist the urge to take a swig from the bottle...lol
Sorry such a long first post...but if any other new vapers out there are struggling and about to give up, take a tip from me...don't give up on vaping itself...you just need to find the right combination of equipment, flavours, nic strength etc. It might take some time but it's fun trying!
