I am using a Kranger Evod BCC...the starter pack came with 1.8 coils....a sales associate in the store told me that my unit is compatible with both the 1.8ohm and the 2.5 ohm coils....does anyone know if this is true and if so, what would be the difference between the two coils...more taste? More vapor? Better throat hit?

A good question, yes you kanger clearomizer can take various kanger coils at different ohms. The variation in ohms will change your vape. Assuming you have a regular ego it is designed to fire at or around 3.7 volts IIRC. There is a whole complicated speech that applies but honestly it is probably overkill right now. Again pm me with anything you'd like to ask. But my suggestion is if you like the 1.8 keep using em. Maybe get a different ohm coil or two to try and compare.

No compatability/safety issues there.
Suggest you try the same juice with both coils, and see if you spot any differences for yourself and if you develop a preference based on your own experiences.
You will not need to empty your Evod's juice to do this. Just keep the tank upside down as you unscrew the base and change coil heads. Remember to always let your juice soak a new wick for a few minutes and to take a few unpowered primer puffs before you vape on a new coil setup so you dont get a dry or burnt hit.
Post back here and let us know what YOU think! The discovery process is part of the fun with vaping!
Congratulations on your decision to vape and welcome to the forum!

You really can't talk about ohms (the resistance of your atomizer 1.8 or 2.5) without also addressing what battery voltage they're being used with. For instance, a 1.8 ohm atty used at 3.3 volts should be very similar to a 2.5 atty used at 3.7 volts or a bit higher. So, not knowing what voltage you're using, hypothetically, the 1.8 should be a slightly warmer vape with a stronger TH and a bit more vapor if you had a way to test that exactly especially if you're at 3.7 voltage or above. I don't know if you're using variable voltage and changing it. One thing you should know though is that regardless of voltage, a 1.8 ohm atty will drain your battery a bit faster than 2.5 ohms will. Personally, I prefer 1.8 ohms at any voltage below 3.7; above, I prefer 2.2 ohms or 2.5 ohms. At 5 volts, I would prefer even higher ohms. I'm not a subohmer and I don't even "get" them.

I know this is probably more than you wanted to know but its the only way I know to explain. Hope it helps a bit.

Edit: I had to answer the phone mid-posting. There was only one reply when I started. Sorry if I've repeated anything already given. I'm just leavin it without reading.

My Evod owner manual says the battery is 650 mah....it is not variable...

Your battery should be regulated at 3.6-3.7 volts then. IMO stick to 1.8 or 2.2. I only use kangers atm and have found the best balance between vape and battery life to be the 2.2 on a fixed or vv ego. 1.8 will cost about an hour of batt life and will burn most fruity juices a lot easier where 2.5 will cost the same loss in batt life because you have to take more "warm up" hits as it takes a sec or two longer for the 2.5 to heat up. The 2.5 can be better for fruity juices though since they tend to like a cooler set up. I use vv batts (ego twists and evic) so i stick to 2.2 ohm and just vary the volts/watts to the juice flavor.

I rebuild all of my own Kanger coils right out of the box. Assuming you are using a twist battery, it's just a variable of your battery setting, the juice you are using, and your personal taste. On the higher number coils, you can get more dialing range out of your battery, but less life between charges. On those 1.5's , if you crank it up too high, you are not going to like what you taste. Keep vaping and good luck!
