Another newbie

Hi everyone! I've been lurking here for a few weeks now. I started vaping 12 days ago. I ordered a Kr8 because I wanted what seemed to be the simplest way to vape, prefilled cartos, batts not too big, etc. I've been struggling with coughing when I inhale the vapor. I started with 12 mg nic, soon ordered some 6 mg, still coughing. I've read posts and watched videos on vaping techniques. If I draw the vapor into my mouth, then open my mouth and inhale through my nose, and finally inhale through my mouth, I usually don't cough. But I don't always remember to do that, and I end up coughing.

I finally watched a vid on how to fill cartos with eliquid. The condom method makes it look almost foolproof. I'll soon find out, I ordered some liquid today. Ordered pg and vg, both in 6 mg and 0 mg, so I can see if there's a difference in my coughing between pg and vg or between nic and no nic.

But I forgot to order blank cartos! I have lots of prefilled ones, but I only have one that's completely used, and it was a menthol tobacco flavor. I ordered cherry liquid, because I quickly found out that I prefer sweet flavors to tobacco. I don't think I want to put my cherry liquid in a used menthol carto. Guess I might have to find a vid on how to clean the things if I don't get some blanks here before the liquid arrives.

OK, there's a question here! I discovered the KR808-DM1 kit at nhaler.com. Apparently it's pretty new. Has anyone tried it? I really feel better buying something that someone else has tried and likes. At $65, that's a lot of money to be a guinea pig, LOL. 480 mah battery (not as big as the iGo, but better than the standard Kr8 batts), 2 mL cartos, and I really like the battery charge indicator. I'd love to know my batt is running low before it dies!

Oh, and this is my 4th day without an analog. I'm a happy vaper, even if I do cough, LOL!

Hi catmom, Welcome and congratulations on your quit! I know by the time I peck this out you will have 10 posts with answers but I try to help anyways.
LOL Try to inhale into your lungs through your mouth after you let the button go. French inhaling isn't needed unless your trying to be sexy

Welcome to ECF! I had a hard time with coughing with my Volcano Inferno when I first got it. What I did was take a puff and blow it out before it could hit my throat full force. That helped. That, and I had a glass of water, just in case it didn't, lol!

It could be harshness in the juice in your cartos that is making you cough. I hope a new juice helps with that. You may want to go a little higher VG % juice for a smoother vape. There will be less TH but it sounds like you may be getting too much. The stuffing inside cartomizers make me cough. It's a tickle-cough rather than a smoking cough if that makes sense. I hope that's not the case for you and can enjoy your new kit. I've stayed in the 510 threaded equipment so that supplies are interchagable. I've heard good things about KR808. You need some blank cartos to fit your new PV. Someone here will hopefully provide you a link. Labor Day sales are coming so you can test a few things now and stock up during the big sales Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome I'm confused about "blank" cartos. Are they ready to be filled with eliquid? Do they have any filler material in them? I took the top off one of my prefilled cartos and there's white material in it with a hole down the center. Do "blank" or "empty" cartos come with the white stuff in them? I want to just fill the condom halfway with liquid and slowly push the carto into it to fill it.

Beans, when I inhale into my lungs through my mouth after letting go of the button, I cough! From what I've read it could be the nic (but going from 12 to 6 mg didn't make much difference), sensitivity to PG (so I ordered some VG liquid to try that) or using prefilled cartos. Hopefully I'll get this vaping thing down pat soon so I can thoroughly enjoy it. I'm enjoying it enough that I've managed to keep off the analogs for almost 4 whole days now, but with a hubby puffing away on analogs (and not coughing!) I'm not sure how much longer I can do it

Unlike cigarettes, you don't really absorb the nicotine through your lungs. Most is done though your linings - nose mouth, etc.
You are going to inhale- that's what smokers do, but hold it in your mouth first and inhale a small amount into your lungs. Don't try to do a deep inhale directly into your lungs. Practic doing that a bit.

My sister coughed too. A lot- so much that she stopped vaping. I got her a very mild juice (vanilla mint from KBV) to 'practice with'. I have no idea why she had a problem and I didn't and it's hard to explain to someone else!

Cathy, all I have right now are prefilled cartos. I don't have any ejuice yet. Just ordered some this morning.
