AGA-T+/2 ... Great genesis atomizer to start out with.

If your not going to use the AGA with silica ...
- see that little post "it's to be used with a silica setup", I pulled it out with pliers, now I another wick hole play around with, dual wick, u-wick setup.

It appears the one I ordered comes with SS mesh, not silica. Ordered from myvaporstore so maybe they throw that in for you rather than having to use a silica wick setup. I have a Protank right now but the flavor is starting to be a little hit or miss. Good first couple hits then flavor sort of dies off. Let it sit a couple minutes and flavor again. I want something that can handle pretty constant use when I do use it. I'll admit I probably just need to clean the coil in the Protank, been about a week use on it and tried turning the voltage up past the 4.2v recommendation and got several burnt hits which probably hurt this one a little. I drink plenty of water so that shouldn't be a prob and usually change flavors a couple times a day.

I hope these can handle a wider range of voltage before getting a burnt taste. The Vision Vivi Nova and Protank both seem to give burnt tastes above about 4.4v+ even though I've got a 2.8ohm head in the Nova and the Protank's is 2.4ohm.

I seem pretty confident in ability to build coils, though I haven't actually tried. Just been reading plenty of people's experiences with coil building and see it isn't as difficult as I thought.

Sorry for a long post

No, not difficult at all. Once you make a couple, it's a breeze to knock one out and tune.

Razor, grats on a fine decision and excellent purchase. Once you are on the far side of the learning curve you'll be ruined on cartomizers and clearomizers forever :)

Petar's method did not work well for me. I will say though, instead of using a drill bit I'd recommend using a q-tip, they are the perfect diameter for the AGA wick hole.

Take a few minutes and read the first two posts in eHuman's blog, it helped me tremendously.

Read through his 2 page blog about it last night and going to again tonight and tomorrow. Was very informative and made it seem even easier than I was thinking to build the wick and coil, which I already feel comfortable with doing without having made one yet lol. The one thing I plan on not doing is oxidizing the wick, was reading some scary stuff last night about it (formation of chromium oxide (CR V & CR VI) on here and plan to just use a lighter and burn any oils that are on it off.

Using the Q-tip should I still wrap the coil tightly like Petar K suggests and let the coils spread out when connecting to the neg and pos posts? Then just fine tune afterwards. I'd like to have a coil around 2.5ohms, would a 5/4 wrap (I'm guessing that means 5 points on the left and 4 on the right) be best or maybe 6/5?

Well she is set up and appears to be running good. Wrapped a 2ohm (1.9ohm evic says) coil and did the wick around a straightened paper clip. Ran some test fires after filling the tank up for about 5-6 seconds at various voltage and seems good. Did a 10 second fire around 3.8v and it just kept chugging away :) I hope once more juice has run through the wick the flavor will start to come out more.

Going to need to pick up some kanthal wire and ss mesh. This only came with one small piece of each, enough for 1 wick/coil.

Also how hard of a draw should I take with this? Same as a Protank or Vision Vivi Nova?

Well that coil ended up not being to good. Had major hot spots and an awful metallic taste. Atleast I know the wick is working good. I noticed the coil wasn't really touching the wick except in a few spots so going to give wrapping the coil on the wick a try. I used a q-tip but my wick is a little bigger and didn't fit into that coil that easy. Sure by the end of the weekend I'll have wrapped plenty of coils, practice makes perfect :D

I was never a direct-lung-hit analog smoker, never understood how people could do that, lol. So I usually vape the same way I smoked, draw into my mouth, inhale, then exhale through my mouth and nose.

I do actually take the occasional direct lung vape hit though, when I'm feeling extra manly :p

I have come to wrapping my wire on the wick, that way it's perfectly fit to that wick's diameter. Do be careful not to wrap it too tight though, you don't want the coil making impressions in the wick. Not too tight, not too loose. I hold coil wire about 2" away from where it is touching the wick as I wrap, makes it easier (for me) to get just the right amount of tension as I'm wrapping it up. I also try to wrap the coils as close together as possible which gives me a lot of leeway to spread them apart while working out hotspots.

Another problem I've discovered is my wick is actually too big. It's a fairly tight fit into the wick hole so that could explain my troubles with hot spots (mainly the top leg) since it is grounding out. Going to cut a little off this wick and see what happens. Need to pick up some more mesh too, all that came with this Aga-t+ is a little 1.5"x1.75" square.

Totally forgot to get mesh when I went to a local B&M today after work to get some kanthal wire "Doh!"

More mesh is always a good idea:) lots of people seem to have issues with a fresh coil. What I noticed is that the distance between the center post and the actual wick on the aga seems to be greater then other rba. I would recommend bending the wire up top close to the wick slightly, it will help but won't solve your problem fully. Keep pulsing and bumping the wire slightly so it will glow in uniform. I notice lots of people think a freshly made coil is primed once its all glowing evenly, but as soon as you put juice in your device you might encounter shorts and dry hits. Reason being when a fresh coil wicks it expands and changes shape, which in turn changes the position of your wrap causing shorts. I would put a bit of juice on the wick and pulse it off until it will all glow evenly. Once you do that about 3 times, you will build up enough carbon on your coil so your rap won't move. After that fill and enjoy.

Sorry about the really long novel :)

Ugh after 2 hours I gotta go to bed.

Cannot for the life of me get the hot spot on the top leg to go away, tried 3 different coils and same result. I'm open to suggestions. The coil itself will all glow but there's the section of the top leg that does too and I don't think that is right. Also having a little difficulty with the coil loosening up as I tighten it down but have an idea I will try to take care of that. Noticed that how I'm having to connect the top leg is basically unwinding/loosening the coil, going to try wrapping it the other way next time :) More working on this tomorrow and my goal is to be happily vaping away in the evening with this.

Night folks!
