There is a difference between using alcohol to dilute a tobacco absolute (TFA does this as "tobacco absolute blend") and using alcohol to do the actual extraction. Alcohol, like PGA or high-proof vodka, will do a good job of extraction...too well. It will not just get the flavors, but also plant material, proteins, polysaccharides, etc. Most have found that the flavor from just an extract is too green in taste, and it will gunk up coils and cartos.

I have no experience with a slow cook method, mainly because I suspect it will also get out too much plant material. I didn't want to cook the tobacco, just flash heat its flavors out. Fast heating in VG or PG seems to get really good results. I heat mine to boiling in a pan for a minute, remove heat and let sit overnight, then filter. I chose VG because it is more polar than PG, but also because I can't vape much PG.

Nothing stopping you from using alcohol, but it might not be very good in the end. Let us know!

You can buy testing kits, or there's a method at the beginning of the DIY section, sticky I think.
But in general the nicotine is neglible, and IMO you need to add it separately, after extraction, before vaping.
This may, however, depend on the extraction method, and products that you use. Somebody else may have a better answer??? :D
Up to now, I've only done it by cold VG/PG maceration, and the Nic content came from a bottle of Nicotine, not at all, or very very slightly, from the tobacco.
As far as I know you need certain solvents and chemist's knowledge to extract nicotine from tobacco. BUT certain people say that it can be extracted in water, so see what others say, as I'm not a chemist. ;)
Would be cheaper if it disolved in water :D but I have doubts...

I'd like to know if alcohol extracts the WTAs other than Nicotine. :D I got into WTA liquid now. It's great for cutting down on the quantity you vape. I was a 10ml+ chain vaper, now I get through 3ml of WTA liquid a day. Didn't think it would change anything, but it has. ;)
There were articles here and there about its' extraction, but now it's a retail item, can't find anything. At least it's sold un flavored, so I can make my own flavors up. :D
