Hi All, Anthony Vapes back here with my review of NewGen Meson rta. Please see bottom for disclaimers and links. Note this is not marked as a sample version.

Introduction:
The NewGen Vape Meson RTA is the first RTA from new vape company NewGen. They sent me this and their first rda the Quark to review which i’ll be reviewing next week and outside of that the only other product they have listed is a pen starter kit so 3 products in total from them so far. The Meson RTA is a 24mm dual coil DTL RTA with a 2 post velocity style deck and 4ml max capacity with the included bubble tank. It’s available in 3 colors Black, SS, and Rainbow. Looking around online I have no idea where to buy this RTA but it is listed on their site at a price of 25.99 but can't be purchased there for some reason. You can only inquire about it.

Initial Impressions
When I first got this RTA it seemed right up my alley. Always nice to get stuff from a new company and see how they do to start, The Meson is a dual coil DTL RTA so i was pretty excited to try it out. I like that it comes with a bubble glass but was a little disappointed that it was only 4ml and the standard glass is 2ml but other then that a pretty straightforward RTA.

Build Deck and Wicking (pics above)
Let’s talk about the build deck now. It’s a basic 2 post 2 holes per post “velocity style” deck but slightly staggered so nothing fancy or different but a proven to be true deck. Due to the stagger on the deck though it’s not made for overly large coils as in a lot of wraps. You do get to install 1 coil at a time which makes it easy to build and they use good quality hex screws my personal favorite as well. 2 screws come top down so won’t twist flat wire leads however 2 come from the side so those will twist your leads. Not a big deal and understandable for the deck design. Overall though a proven good deck that’s easy to build and works well with fancy wires and round wires. Plenty of room to fit a 4mm ID coil in which covers up the whole bottom air.

Wicking on this one is super easy. It wicks pretty well so you don’t need to go super thin on your wicks. Just make sure not to overstuff them and drop them right in the cutouts made for them and leave a little bit of room. Really simple and easy to wick. Just don’t overstuff it or you’ll get vapor lock.

Performance
Performance wise, I used it as a dual coil RTA as intended. I ran 4 builds in it. 3 fancy builds at 3mm-4mm ID and one simple round build at 4mm ID. It’s DTL for sure but not super airy. Performance was really good for round wire builds as the deck isn’t big and it’s not a ton of air. Probably the best I’ve gotten from round wire this year. Even with the fancy wires it’s still one of the best as well but not as good as some others. It’s best with 4mm ID fancy builds or round builds and it’s above average for a dual coiler. Excellent for those who don’t want to run huge coils and high watts. Should crack my top 5 in a year of limited good options. Overall it’s a really good RTA especially for those who don’t use huge builds or fancy wires.

Overall Impressions, Details, and Extras
It’s a bottom airflow RTA with 2 large air holes equally spaced apart that you can adjust from the outside. The AFC is nice and smooth and on a stopper. It’s easily adjustable on or off mod and has come design for grip. Very well done. The air is nice and smooth, no whistle on any setting half open or more but not as quiet as some others i’ve had.

The top fill is your standard screw off top cap.It works great as there is lots of metal with some cutouts for grip to spin it off easily and the threading is excellent. The fill holes are large and can be filled with any type of bottle and you can just pour it in from a glass bottle. There is a good amount of accessories that come with it, It comes with a standard 810 ultem friction fit drip tip and an ultem 510 tip adapter. Would have been nice to have a 2nd 810 or a 510 tip included as well though. The drip tip fits nice. Not too snug but not too loose and you can use any of your own tips 810 and 510. It comes with 2 tanks as well, a standard 2ml tank and a bubble 4ml tank. The Meson RTA also includes plenty of extra o-rings, 4 spare post screws (all hex grub screws), an allen wrench and 2 coils but now cotton came in mine. The coils are labeled on their site as ni80 but unlabeled in the box. They should have labeled the coils.

The quality on the NewGen Meson RTA is great. Nice to see a new company have great quality especially at the price point. All the threading is really nice and smooth, there is texture everywhere it should be. Easy to take apart and you can remove the deck with an almost full tank which is nice, I’d say about 80% full or less and you can rebuild without dumping the tank. The coloring on the black is nice it’s not matte but not super glossy either. Somewhere in between that. It’s a 24mm diameter RTA with nothing that bulges unless you use the bubble glass so it shouldn’t overhang most mods. The 2 ml capacity is very small for a dual coil RTA but the 4ml included bubble glass makes it an average capacity capacity. There is no JFC and it doesn't need one. I had no leaking or flooding issues and it handled chain vaping really good as well. Branding is nice and simple. Just a NewGen logo and the word meson on the chamber visible through the glass.

Pros:
  • Great Build Quality
  • Standard 810 Drip Tip and a 510 adapter included
  • good quality hex head grub post screws
  • large fill holes
  • Great threading
  • Bubble glass included
  • plenty of spare o-rings and 4 spare post screws
  • nice smooth AFC
  • Simple screw off top fill design
  • great texture everywhere it’s needed
  • easy to wick
  • Flavor is above average
  • 3 color options
  • great for round wire builds
  • easy to build on build deck (staggered velocity style)
Cons:
  • Coils that are included aren’t labeled
  • some cotton would have been nice
  • capacity is a bit on the small side even with the bubble glass for a dual coil RTA
  • a second drip tip would have been nice
  • slight whistle with air turned down more than 50%
  • air is a little louder than some
Conclusion
So with all that said, do I recommend this RTA?I don’t like to do a hard yes or no, this one i’m going to lean a little towards the yes. It’s probably the best i’ve had for using round wire this year and still a good contender with fancy wires as well. It doesn't reinvent the wheel by any means and is similar to a lot of RTAs out there, but it’s a good one that doesn't need a lot of watts like most dual coil RTAs these days. I added this to my sheet of recs linked down below.

This is Anthony Vapes just keeping it honest, hopefully you all can say the same and i’ll catch you on my next review.

Great review, Anthony!
Question: If I were to order replacement deck screws, what size should I order for this? On Fast Tech I found both 2mm x 4mm, & 2.5mm x 4mm headless hex grub screws.
Using my digital calipers, I got measurements on the included screws of 2.25mm x 3.75mm, so I don't know which ones to get.
It's not urgent or anything, as I've only used 1 replacement screw so far, but I want to be prepared just in case.

Overall, I'm happy with this RTA as my 1st ever. Been using it about 6 weeks now & it's holding up well, & the flavor is very good. The only thing about it that irks me is the leaking upon filling & capping, but I can live with that cause it's not too bad & stops fairly quickly. I just hold a piece of paper towel by one side of the airflow & tilt to catch the leakage until it stops.

But yeah, I'm not sure exactly how screw sizing works, so any help with that I'd greatly appreciate. Thanks! :)

thanks! as far as screw size i'm not really sure didn't measure but i have a kit from fastech and the kit always seems to have the right size for any atomizer so it's good to have around. here is the kit link i got $7.95 Replacement Phillips + Hexagonal Screw for DIY E-Cigarettes (200 Pieces) 200-pack - stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping I also didn't get any leaks form it at all. sounds like maybe use a little more cotton?

also where did you buy it from? i couldn't find any place selling it?

Thanks for the tip on cotton, I might not be putting enough in now I think of it.

Oh, I didn't know you couldn't find it...is it not released yet? Cause I've had mine kind of a long time now, close to 2 months, maybe. Won it in a YouTube giveaway.
Thanks for the FT link! That's going on my Wishlist! :)
