Hi All, Anthony Vapes back here with my review of the Onevape Golden Ratio Pod Kit, please see the bottom for disclaimers and links. Note this is not marked as a sample version.
Introduction:
The Onevape Golden Ratio Pod kit is the latest Pod Kit from somewhat new vape manufacturer Onevape. They started off last year with the one lambo pod which i reviewed and was just an ok kit and then made a couple more pod systems after that which i didn’t use and now this is their latest. The Golden Ratio (which I'll refer to as the GR from now on) is a simple rectangle shaped style AIO Pod with refillable pods and a built in 1100mah battery and button press to fire. It’s available in 9 colors Black, Silver, Blue, Gold, Rose gold, Rainbow, Platinum Gray, Gradient Purple, and Lime Green, however only the 1st 6 are available now so not sure if the last 3 colors will be made or not. Looking around online I see it available for around 25-35 for the kit but vapenw has it in stock for 21 bucks in the US so good price there as well as 5 packs of coils for 9 bucks and 4 bucks for a replacement pod.

Golden Ratio Battery Rundown
The GR is a rectangle style AIO (all in one) Pod kit, meaning there isn’t a separate mod or tank that can be used with anything else. It does have replaceable pods so you can carry spares, but those are sold separately and the coils are replaceable and you can reuse the pod like the Breeze 2, nautilus AIO or Nord. Design wise it’s very similar to the lost vape orion but a little bigger. It’s also not rounded and has a lot of sharp edges which I don’t like and also worth noting their quad coil requires a different pod if you want to use those coils.They should have made 1 pod compatible for all coil options like all the other systems on the market. There is adjustable air which is cool and it’s on the outside of the pod and pretty easy to adjust. It’s smooth but small to get a grip on it. It goes from a loose MTL to a restricted DTL draw. It has an average capacity of 2ml like most pod systems. The battery is listed at 1100mah and it’s a non-adjustable direct output device. It features built in USB charging with a listed rate of 1A. I tested this 2 times with an inline USB meter and for the charge rate it charges at 1.02A max so good rating there. It charges full in about 1:25 so charges fast enough. Battery size wise i got 1069-1113mah so no complaints there. Pretty damn good ratings on onevapes part. It also has passthrough vaping as well (does not pause and keeps charging) so you can vape it while charging. No Drip tip, the mouthpiece is part of the pod itself.
The GR is very nicely built and feels really solid but a little on the heavy side for a pod. Paint wise I have the silver which is a matte silver finish to it. It looks great and no signs of wear on the battery. They also have a small resin panel on the front which is nice resin but looks a little out of place IMO on this device. The pods attach to the battery via a click in system similar to that of the lost vape orion. They don’t fit well and have a lot of play in them and the one for the quad coil is a little hard to get in. Also i happened to have dropped it once and the pod flew out and the coil flew out of the pod. Would be nice if it fit better and was more secure. To replace the coils they just pop into place and are held in by o-rings like the nord instead of the screw in style of the breeze 2. You just remove the pod and then pull the coil out of the bottom to replace. The filling is pretty basic. Just a simple rubber plug which is on the bottom of the pod so the pod needs to be removed in order to fill. Then you just pop open the rubber plug and fill. Fill hole is a good size so no complaints there
Usage is pretty easy. It has 1 button which is a fire button. Click fire 5 times to turn on or off. You can tap the fire button to see the battery charge as well. The battery LED is on the front and a large “one” logo. Sadly it’s a 2 step battery not well spaced out pretty much. It’s blue form full to below 3.5V then it turns red it’s red from 3.5v to 3.3v. Then turns off and flashes red when 3.3V or lower. In actual usage you can feel it almost being dead when it’s still blue and by the time it turns red you only get a few puffs before it dies. Really poor on their part and makes the battery meter pretty useless. The is fully exposed so should be easy to see your juice level except it’s really dark tinted. They should have made it clear so it would have been easy to see. Companies really need to stop with the super dark tinted pods.
Coil Performance and details
The GR Pod Kit comes with 1 Pod but 2 coils which is great. All kits should always include 2 coils/pods. There are 3 coil options for this kit in total. The 2 included are a .6 ohm mesh coil and a 1.2 ohm coil. There is a 3rd option which is a .5 ohm quad coil and they sent me one of those as well, but it needs a different pod which is purchased separately. I used all 50/50 and 60/40 nic salt juices 20-25 mg nicotine. I started with the .6 ohm mesh coil. Flavor was ok. A solid tier 2 flavorwise. But it doesn't wick very well at all even with thin 50/50 juices and only lasted 4ml of juice. Then I used the 1.2 ohm coil. Flavorwise this one was no good. It wasn't gross but flavor was barely existent even with the air turned all the way down. I vaped 4ml of juice through it then gave up on the coil. Then I used the quad coil. Flavorwise it was really good. It’s a tier one as in one of the best, but still not quite as good as the best, but still really good for a pod system. However once again I only got 6ml of juice out of it before it died. Overall the only good coil flavorwise was the .5 ohm quad coil (although the .6 ohm mesh was acceptable) but all of them had poor life and hence all the coils as a whole are not good.
Pros:
So with all that said, do I recommend this POD kit or not? I don’t like to do a hard yes or no, but this one leans towards the no. It’s just an ok pod system with potential but some annoying flaws but the main issue is the coils. None of them last long enough and the one that is the best isn’t even included and doesn't fit in the included pod. I like the concepts but they need to work on this device to get it up to par and compete with other pod systems. This one just isn’t worth buying as is. I won’t be adding this to my spreadsheet of recs which is linked below, feel free to check that out if you are in the market for anything.
