I got confirmation earlier today that my Triton starter kit and juices have shipped!

I want to finally quit smoking (American Spirit Menthol) and have been using Blu disposables at work. While they're good enough to hold me over at work, they're not going to cut it at home, stressful situations, etc.

After much research here and elsewhere, I ordered a Triton starter kit instead of a Blu starter kit. I figured people on a forum who've used this stuff know what they're talking about, rather than buying into advertising propaganda.

I ordered 7ml bottles of the following:

Tribecca
HX3
Tiki Juice
Longhorn
Menthol Ice

I figure I'll let the batteries fully charge up (8 hours initially?) and open and shake up my juices for 24 hours before I begin vaping. That's the plan anyway; I'm sure I'll be like a kid on Christmas morning.

Anything I should be aware of before starting?

Whacha' think my first vape flavor should be?

I'm in Albany, NY and I think Halo is in NJ, so hopefully it'll get here in 2-3 days.

Really looking forward to getting my stuff!

Like a lot of folks I too started off with blu...quickly tired of the battery issues, and jumped right in to another better, but still not quite there. I won a Triton 900mah battery, tank and charger in a contest, picked up an extra tank and some G6 cartomizers, and after giving them a thorough workout was absolutely sold on Triton.

Like you, I am waiting delivery on my Triton starter kit and know that I am getting a quality system.

A couple thoughts: When you first fill your tank, make sure that the coils are screwed in firmly, BUT NOT TOO TIGHT (that can give a burnt taste). Also, you do not have to over-tighten the drip-tip, snug is fine, the seal actually works better that way. Although the tanks are best, you might consider getting some cartomizers as well. I use them to shorten up the ecig, and it becomes more practical for taking with you on the go, like work, around town, etc. Also, the mini tanks are real convenient when you don't want a larger tank of ejuice. When your Triton tank coils do go out, it is simple and economical to replace them, you get 5 replacement coils for $12.50 ($2.50 each).

Which ejuice to try first? Hmmm, whichever flavor you think is closest to your favorite. If you are familiar with tobacco flavors, the Tribeca is a smooth, but non-traditional flavor that many like. Longhorn is a deeper, more "tobacco-like" flavor.

Thanks for the tips, Pete. I knew the Blu disposables wouldn't be a permanent solution. I picked one up just to see if vaping would have any hope whatsoever, so to speak. They've kept me from smoking at work (but just barely), so I decided to look into it further.

I've always been a menthol smoker, but since switching from Newports to American Spirit Menthols a few years ago my taste for it has changed. They've got a light menthol flavor to them, hence ordering juices that Halo describes as having a little menthol to them. I love cigars too, hence the Longhorn bottle.

Can't wait to finally stop smoking. I havent truly enjoyed having a cigarette in several years.

Tiki Juice. Tiki Juice. Tiki Juice. Try it first. Or maybe last, yeah... Last, because if you try it first you might never get to the other ones. I HATE menthol, but I love Tiki Juice. Go figure.

Pete covered all the basics. The only thing I can add is, get a nice big bottle in your favorite color and keep it full of water and drink drink drink it. I am over a month vaping now and it is finally evening out. But keep hydrated and expect alot of bathroom trips. This is going to help with flavor burn out. Also keep a second tank full of something else. Preferably 2 totally different types of flavors (from your list I would say Tiki/Longhorn) and switch out often, especially at first.

You may have days where you can't taste anything, it's normal!

Happy vaping and good choices!

Having just been through a few days of "Vapor Tongue", or I can't taste my juice syndrome, Shufflefield is so correct!! Keep that water pumping. I found a little lemonade or lemon in the water helps cut the blah taste in your mouth. I am happy to report I am tasting again, so it is something that will pass. Don't wait to get thirsty, DRINK WATER!!

Excellent advice Shufflefield.

I drink so much water now that I don't think I'll be able to drink any more. I drink at leaat 2 full Nalgene bottles during the day, not including what I drink at meals; usually 2-3 pints of H2O. At one point, my doctor and I thought I might be diabetic (thirst combined with other things).

Thanks for the insight everyone. I hope I don't get thirstier, but I'll deal with it if I do.

On another note...

USPS's tracking sucks. Worst in the business.

Whenever I try to track a USPS package, all I get is "Electronic Shipping Info Received" or something like that for 2-3 days. Most times it shows up before anything else is written. Other times it'll update the day it'll arrive.

I just checked it while posting this, and it says it'll be here tomorrow. I've never really had any issues with delivery times from them, but I've always had issues with them updating info. UPS has always been great about tracking info updates in my experience. I guess the important thing is how quickly it gets where it's supposed to go.

If it gets here tomorrow, it'll have shipped on Monday and arrived on Thursday. Not too shabby for regular mail.

I've got my starter kit on its way, too! I'm pumped and am confident I selected a high quality supplier.
USPS is usually the problem, btw. Not Halo. They're top-notch.

The shipper is usually the problem. Just commenting in USPS's tracking; they usually get things where they need to be in a timely fashion. I just like to know an ETA quickly. Most others are good about it, USPS took 3 days (including the day they received the stuff) to get me the info. UPS and FedEx get those to me same day if not by the time I check the next morning. But enough about that...

What starter kit did you order? What are you currently using?

Again, can't wait till it gets here. Every cigarette I smoke is like tourture now. So sick of it. Haven't had an enjoyable one in a few years. My plan is to switch to vaping, which doesn't seem like it'll be too hard (not that I think it'll be the easiest thing I've ever done), and slowly get down to zero nicotine.

I was basing the batteries charging and steeping on other Halo owners' comments here. Maybe I won't have to wait.

@JR 137:

The Halo G6. When I first tried to start vaping back in 2009, I chose to buy my stuff from bad quality suppliers; then, subsequently alot of IRL things happened to me that were out of my control. This forced me to go on a hiatus from attempting to start vaping (and therefore, a hiatus from ECF). I have only just recently gotten back from this hiatus and this is my second attempt. I did my research this second time around. I'm confident that Halo is a good supplier to start with, if not stay with indefinitely.

So, for all intents and purposes: while I AM familiar with the concept of vaping, I am still a solid first-timer.

Don't worry bro, I can't wait to get off of the analogs either. In regards to quitting them completely (and the nicotine); the success of those two goals will be based solely upon your willpower and how bad you want it.

I've seen people do it - you can, too. Don't listen to the naysayers. If you fold, don't beat yourself up. Just get up and try again, if you're serious about it.

Exylis,

I was going to order a G6 starter kit, but decided on the Triton because of the increased battery life and tanks holding more juice. I gather that the combo of the stronger battery and tanks also provide more vapor, flavor and throat hit.

I think I'll probably get some G6 batteries and mini tanks and/or cartomizers down the road. I think those will be better for when I'm out and about and/or at work. Only time will tell. All I know is I'm sick of smoking, let alone $11 a pack.

@JR 137: I hear ya, bro. I went with the G6 because I'm ALWAYS at work and my shoestring budget prevented me from having the extra $20.00 for the Tirton. LOL. Otherwise, you KNOW I would've gotten the Triton first. It looks like an absolute BEAST. I'm confident I'll fall in love with my G6, though.

Getting the Triton starter kit is in my plans, though. Wish I could hack it this week, but I'm not rich (just like the rest of you out there.) Depending on how the G6 battery and vaping specifics perform for me based on my unique individual needs, I may just buy a couple more G6 batteries instead of saving up for a Triton starter kit. Either way, buying a couple more G6 batteries or buying the Triton starter kit - I'll be doing one of those two. Got some mini-tanks for the G6 on the way, too.

I'm sick of analogs, too. I've been tapering off of the analogs successfully in preparation for receiving my G6 starter kit today.

Keep in touch, buddy! Let us all know here on ECF how you do with your lovely Triton kit! I'm sure Cinder Ella would like to know, too!

Exylis,

My shoestring budget told me to get the one I really wanted first, so I wasn't trying to upgrade a month down the road lol. Tracking says it'll be here today. I'll let you and everyone know. Let me know how yours goes.

What flavors do you have coming? I've got the 2 starter kit tanks and a pack of XL cartos, so I think I'll at least fill both tanks with different juices. I think Tribecca and HX3. Maybe Menthol Ice. I guess it'll be a game-time decision.

You got it bro - my G6 will be here today, along with a sizeable order of e-juice samples from one e-liquid supplier; and two others from another e-liquid supplier to arrive soon after.

I'll be lookin' forward to hearing about your Triton experience & I'll hook you up with my G6 experience. Won't be able to try out my G6 until Sunday because that's my next off day. I've been hearing I'll have to charge my batteries for 8 hours before use. I just don't have that kind of time during workdays to do that. I have Tribeca comin with it.

Happy vaping, bro! :vapor:

I love my G6! I decided to start off small and the G6 is great, battery life is great and I got a bunch of the mini tanks and couldn't be happier. I will probably had a triton battery to the mix eventually cause from what I hear the mini tanks fit on those batteries too. You will be happy with the G6!
