If so, what's your favorite? (bud/miller/coors fans need not reply)

Mine is Troeg's Rugged Trail Nut Brown Ale. I'm a huge brown fan. I LOVE malty beer, but I'm not against a good hoppy IPA (Dogfish's 90 minute is my current favorite, their 60 minute is a little too astringent for my tastes)

I'm currently drinking River Horse Brewing Company's Belgian Freeze. Belgian style ale with plenty of caramel malt. It's not bad at all, but after a Victory Golden Monkey (9.8% ABV), I can only make a generalization. Rough day at work. :vapor:

On deck: Sierra Nevada Celebration, Dogfish Head Indian Brown and Guiness Foreign Extra.

Commercial: Rogue Dead Guy, probably my "all-around" favorite beer. Ephemere is my favorite "odd beer".

Homebrew: EdWort's Haus Pale Ale. It's an American Pale Ale that has hints of grapefruit. It doesn't HAVE grapefruit in it, but the hops really shine and impart a grapefruity-taste which is AWESOME. And don't get me wrong, it's not a fruity beer like the Ephemere I listed. It's hoppy with nice balance.

I additionally have yet to find a beer that comes close to my last Raspberry Saison.

As far as mainstream beers, I usually settle on Sam Adams, though with the prevelance of regional breweries around here, getting a Harpoon or a Long Trail or a Smuttynose is about as common as finding anything that's not BMC. Literally. Man I love New England!

I'm with you on the Sam Adams, BMC is my absolute last choice.

Does the homebrew you mention use cascade hops? They are known for imparting a citrusy nose/taste.

How is smuttynose? I've been meaning to pick up a sampler case for months now and have not gotten around to it.

Yep, it's entirely Cascade, actually. As bittering, flavor and aroma.

I sort of have to support it since it's a local, one of New Hampshire's oldest. :)

As far as flavor, they're okay. I wouldn't put them on any top ten lists, but they're okay as a standby. They might be great beers, but they're all of the malty variety and I prefer hoppy so my preference might be lowering their score.

a friend of mine who is a beer wizard. He lives in a bus in the woods and brews beer and grows "sprouts." you gotta honk the horn and give him a bit otherwise you will be faced with a naked guy with a shotgun.

That sounds alarmingly like my attempt to find liquor in Kentucky, notorious for it's dry counties.

"And tell 'em Debbie sent ya!"
