I thought it was pretty interesting that joyetech came out with the Easy Head for the eVic. It's pretty basic as far as just having the two power modes like the eGo T-mod, but the Easy Head does have pass-through which is nice. If anyone is wondering what I am talking about here is a eVic Easy Head article in case you didn't know about it or haven't seen it yet. Well is does charge using a micro USB cable which is how it makes the pass-through possible. The cable you do have to buy separately. So any current eVic owners have one or plan on getting one and if so is there a verdict as far as a need for it?

got my easy head today...

first impressions: nice unit. i have both the ego t mod head V2 and the new easy head here side by side. right off the bat it seems that ( of course without measuring the votages with a meter) the east head has much better voltage regulation in regulated mode and in unregulated mode, it still seems to work much better. both are supposed to be mirrored in their voltage outputs.

profile of the easy head is much nicer than the tapered head of the ego t V2 head. much thicker, and the squared top of the easy head looks much better.USB connection seems a little short . while it does work, it feels like the mini usb is pretty loose in the plug portion. might be my cable so ill be trying a couple of diferent new cales in it also to see.

it is fairly early to tell for sure , and if it changes i will post, but as it stands right now i give it a 9 out of 10 stars.

well, looks like that was it for that control head. worked absolutely wonderful for about 1 1/2. then all of the sudden, it freaked out. when i pushed the button it would blink 3 times. im thinking maybe the batteries toast, so i put a new battery in. it blinked 3 times and then 4-6 times really fast. i tried multiple tanks on it ( protanks, vivis, ismoka mega, ect). everytime i put a tank on it, it will blink 3 times and then nothing. take the tank off, 3 blinks and nothing. button wont fire,ect..... acts like it has a dead short inside or something......got it from myfreedomsmokes.com. sent them an email and filled out their RMA stuff online, but i got an emal saying it could take like 10 days to get a return authorization.......oh well, i guess we will see what happens.

dont think i can send it back now!

what i did today is pulled the thing apart. found right away what happened. the USB plug on the thing wasnt soldered in correctly and came loose, effectively shorting out and completely cooking the board. i jerked the board out, went down to radio shack and got myself a couple of momentary switches. drilled out a nice round hole in the middle of the oblong button hole, soldered a couple of wires. the head and evic body uses the tube for ground so all i had to solder is the hot to the switch on one side and a wire from the heads center pin to the other side and BAM!....unregulated mechanical mod. works 10 times better than the original head ever did...... been using it all day and sofar its great. i like it better than the original. hell, id have paid 20 bucks just for the aluminum head with the 510 installed to mess with....

ive got an old shorted out ego t mod head i think ill do the same thing to.

I have an eVic, but remember that the pass through is a pseudo pass through, The most you can get out of an USB port is still 2.5Watts, Watts is watts, doesn't matter if you kick the voltage up or down, it's a volt-amp ratio, so a 2.5 Watt source, however you convert it, can at most source 2.5Watt... Unless of course you add a storage medium, like capacitors and batteries, in our case, it's our batteries...

It's charging it while the fire button is released during pass-through mode, but is slowly collecting charge in the battery when released, so that's why I call it pseudo pass-through...

:)
