Good Deal Jeff.

That's why people Like the ECF. Because when someone has a Problem, there are enough people throwing out Ideas that one of them is Bound to Work.

No doubt. I’m really glad I found this place. Now that I found it though I’ll be around for sure. Lots more to learn.

My PG allergy developed over about a year and a half, progressing as time went, eventually I had to start making my own ejuice. Forget about flavor for now, order yourself 1 liter of Vegetable Glycerin and 60ml of Vegetable Glycerin based 100mg Nicotine, remove 60ml from the Glycerin bottle and pour in the nicotine, shake this thing like hell, over and over and over, try to vape it for about a week and after 3-4 days your symptoms should start subsiding.

I later determined my acceptable levels of PG for me it's about 9-10% PG where I don't have any symptoms show up a lot of store bought juice even though it is max vg flavoring is generally PG based and there is up up to 25% flavoring in some flavors.

Edit* looks like a nickel allergy then, my friend has this, he's a lead guitar player, a quite amazing one the problem is he can't get the sound he wants from stainless steel strings :/ He gets all sorts of problems on his hands from this.

hmmm sounds like an allergy... try to find some straight VG ( glycerol) in a drugstore ( 5$ on average) and place a small drop/smear on the inside of your elbow and watch for a reaction... if no reaction occurs, Im ( and it seems others) will agree you might/could be allergic to the PG component of Ejuice...

if you are looking for a 100% VG type of juice, check out Heathers Heavenly Vapes... they have something called the Purity Line ( 100VG)... take a look.

Good to hear you have found, or presumably found, the source of your reactions. I’d still peruse an allergy test and share your findings with your doctor. Kanthal is an alloy that’s consists of iron, chromium and aluminium so it’s possible your reactions could be due to one of these metals. Knowing exactly what you are allergic to could be very beneficial, and not just for vaping but for other uses as well. Example: Kanthal is widely used as a heating element for toasters.

I am allergic to PG. I was using 100%vg and still getting a reaction, just not as much. I started using SS for building my coils and itchy rash has gone away completely. I know I am allergic to Pewter so a metal allergy from the coils may have been part of the problem all along. I am not positive about that though.

As you said, Kanthal is FeCrAl. SS316 is FeCrNiMo (yes, it contains nickel). If OP is fine with SS but reacts badly to Kanthal A1, then it`s probably the Aluminium that causes him trouble. Should be tested tho to give him a fix guideline for what to use in the future.
