I just ordered one of the cheapo Vamo 5's from focal ecig. Accordingly, I will need some 18650s.

From badititude's excellent battery blogs, I have narrowed a universe of batteries but it's still hard to keep track of. I would like to get button tops and high drain in the event I ever go to mech mods and subohming, but I understand it may not be necessary with a Vamo.

Are there any reputable battery vendors or brands or have any of you successfully purchased say, Sony batteries from an amazon vendor? Any tips? If there is any hope of not getting ripped off from Amazon, I would like to use them because I have a bunch of points.

Personally, I buy my batteries from known good battery suppliers that I know do not sell knockoff batteries. RTD vapors and Illumination Supply are two of them. I would buy Sony 18650VTC5. At 30 amp maximum discharge and 2600 mAh capacity they are one of the best deals on the market right now for both general use and sub-ohm use.

Both of these suppliers have them in flat top only though. If the Vamo 5 needs button tops you'll have to look for a supplier who has those. If the Vamo does not need button tops, unless you're planning to get a Provari I see no advantage to them. No mechanical mod I know of needs them.

You really have to be careful with buying batteries off Amazon. A lot of them are clones, and are of dubious quality.

I recently ordered 4 of those new Sony 30amp batteries off Amazon--but the seller was Orbtronics, so I feel pretty confident that they are genuine, and if I have any problems, the seller is reputable enough that they will take car of me...
