New to DIY, so today made the leap and ordered all my supplies. The concentrates i ordered were:
Vanilla Custard V1 (CAP) - 30mls
Sweet Strawberry (CAP) - 15mls
Bavarian Cream (TFA) -15mls
Brown Sugar (TFA) -15mls
Malted Milk (TFA)-15mls

Looking for any nice strawberry vapes, custard vapes, creamy vapes, just basically anything tasty using what I've got! Thanks in advance!

I just started DIY'ing myself, I have only CAP Sweet Strawberry from your list. I do however have CAP Bavarian Cream but I'm sure it differs from the TFA one. The sweet strawberry is pretty decent, but I steep it with the cap off a bit because it does have a bite to it, due to the alcohol. I like it around 15% as a stand alone. With the bavarian cream, I have only used it once, I wouldn't advise that you vape anything you make with it in there right away. I definitely have found that it needs a bit of steep time as most creams do, it's really rich, thick, and a bit strong. I don't yet have a recipe utilizing it though.

I've heard really good things about CAP Vanilla Custard V1. You have four complementary flavors and only one real "main" flavor. I'm sure you could use the custard as a main though, along with the sweet strawberry of course, and maybe TFA Bavarian Cream as a main, if you were to throw in a bit of the brown sugar. Sweet Strawberry, Vanilla Custard, and the Malted Milk might make a good recipe too!

P.S. There is a forum section dedicated to DIY, it's a subforum in the "General e-liquid Discussion" :)

any advice for future orders on the main front?

I copied your 5 flavorings down and am going to go through a huge list of recipes to see if any of them can be made using the ones you have. I'll be back later to post any I may find.

As far as what you said above:

For future orders, you may want to find some recipes first that sound tasty and interesting to you, and build your "to buy list" of flavorings based on those recipes. You may even find several recipes you want to make that would use some flavors in common, and that will cut down the number of flavorings you'd need to buy.

Also, I'd definitely go ahead and put either some TFA Sweetener or some TFA Cotton Candy on your list. Sweetener is used to sweeten other flavors. Cotton Candy is used as a mild sweetener, and a smoother for harsh flavors. Or, find some other sweetening agent made by a different manufacturer.. Many recipes include them. It's better to have at least 1 already when you need it, than to find a recipe you really want to make...and not have at least 1 of the 2!

You also might want to check out some of the blogs by dannyv45 and Bill's Magic Vapor. Just do a search and they'll pop right up. They're both especially helpful, very knowledgeable, longtime, DIY experts!

I'll be back hopefully with some recipes for you!

OK...I'm back. I scrolled through a file on my PC with 68 recipes I saved in it, many from 1 of those experts above and others from other ECF longtime DIYers...trying to find some that could be made using just the 5 flavorings you've got. There wasn't even 1, unfortunately.

Here's why: About 60 of the 68 required either Sweetener or Cotton Candy to make it. The other 8 could be made without 1 of those 2, but you'd need other flavorings like Sweet Cream, or Vanilla Swirl, or Whipped Cream, or Marshmallow, etc. in place of the actual sweeteners, to provide at least some sweetness.

I'm really sorry. I was hoping to find at least a couple for you. Maybe someone else will come along with a recipe they know of that can be made with just what you've got.

Do you have any friends maybe, who also DIY, that might have even 1 of the above flavorings that you could use...even alittle of it? You could always give it back to them when you place another order for additional flavorings later.

I found recipes resembling flavors I liked and got those flavors. Then some more flavors that I seemed to see often, I got some of those. There are some differences in a flavor between the brands. Even in the strengths of the flavor given the same amount between different brands.

It will grow. If you like different flavors...

@JoeSavage - I couldn't give up trying to find a way for you to be able to use what you've got to make a recipe or 2. Your main obstacle is not having a sweetener to use. TFA Sweetener is made of: Sucralose, Artificial Flavors, and PG.

So I did some reading through "the stickies" at the top of the main DIY discussions page. In the Guide to DIY Flavoring (started years ago), on the very first page, in his first post...the person who started the guide is talking about the different flavoring companies! About 1/2 way down the page, he starts talking about The Perfumer's Apprentice flavorings. In that first paragraph you'll see: "diluted Sucralose sweetener (although I recommend using pure Sucralose)". Click on sweetener, and you'll go to the discussion thread titled "Sweet Juice - Finally".

What they discuss on the first 1 1/2 pages is the results some people got trying to use other things for a sweetener in their eliquids. But they found that lots of artificial sweeteners (like Stevia, Sweet & Lo, Equal, etc) that people use to sweeten other things...can't or shouldn't be used as sweeteners for eliquids because they aren't made with Sucralose. But...Splenda does contain Sucralose! You can't just use a small portion of a packet though, in your eliquid. You need to get the Sucralose out of the Splenda, and use it. On page 2, ECF member CZEdwards posted this:

"You can also isolate the sucralose from Splenda -- it takes time, but not much else.

Here's the instructable: How To Isolate Splenda - All

But in short -- mix 10 grams of Splenda (about 10 packets) with 20 ml of ethanol (everclear). Allow the mixture to separate so the maltodextrin settles, then carefully pour off the liquid through filter paper (coffee filters work). Allow the alcohol to evaporate, or in our case, use the liquid as is."

In case you don't know, Everclear is grain alcohol. It's sold at any liquor store and even Walmart's little Liquor store! It's cheap in the small little miniature size (which is at least double the 20mL you'd need) for the above. Many vapers buy it to also clean/degunk their coils in it!

Now, I hadn't ever heard about the above, to make Sweetener, so I don't know how it would turn out. But at least it might be worth reading about it if you don't plan on placing another flavoring order anytime soon.

Due to the importance of said sweetener, just ordered the CAP super sweet Sucralose! thought it would be easier than me trying to crft my own and possibly killing myself hahaha. Thank you so much for the sustained effort, and honestly i have not ever seen someone so determined to help, very refreshing! Was CAP sucralose the way to go? and are there any recipes i could not avail of?

OH NO! Just realised you referenced the TFA sweetener! would CAP still work?

You're OK! CAP sweetener is just fine!

By the way, while you were ordering the sweetener and the PG or VG...you didn't happen to order any more main flavorings like your strawberry, did you? Or any of the ones like Sweet Cream, Vanilla Swirl, Marshmallow, etc.? Just wondering so I could point you in the direction of a few recipes.

@jwitfield - Thanks yet again for your kind words.

As far as working in a vape shop - There's way too much vaping stuff that I don't know about, nor ever plan on learning about, at my age! For example: I know nearly nothing about rebuilding or making coils, about RDAs, or RBAs, or mech mods, etc. First day in a vape shop...I'd be fired for sure! :D

I'll just stick with helping friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. who are interested in vaping, and some ECF members who ask for help with vaping topics that I do know something about. Suits me better for sure. :)

I think everyone has the feeling of "oh, crap" when they realize that vaping encompasses a lot more than smoking. To really get a lot out of vaping and to know what is there to help, requires a lot of reading. Almost immediately, I started reading the "New Posts" and, also, using the search bar. People spoke of different hardware, techniques, problems, and, hardest of all, acronyms. I made lists and went to different websites to learn about items. I still do read everyday. I have my interests in this "big world" and look for new considerations.

In my desire to quit smoking, I had to make vaping something of a hobby. I really enjoy it and, now, I sometimes forget to vape. I never forgot when I needed a cigarette.
