There are so many tutorials I want to see if anyone can recommend some so I don't have to sift through them all!

This site will Not Help you with How to do a Build. But it can be Very Helpful on What to Build.

Well............ I won't tell you how to build a cloud chucking coil, but simple coils are pretty easy.
You need some wire. Some cotton (organic, cotton bacon, etc) and something to wrap the wire around. Nail clippers or flush wire cutters, and scissors to trim the cotton. A pin or bit of wire to poke the cotton into position helps too.
Now the easy way.. take a bit of string and wrap it around your finger without crossing the loops of string. There is your basic of coil wrapping. Use wire instead of string and a small screwdriver or drill bit instead of your finger.. and voila.

Coil wrapping is your bestest friend.

I also have some stupid easy coil building vids on my youtube channel. I made them for my little brother. (so they have to be simple. lol)

Yes, I've done it once successfully, but on subsequent attempts the coils have broken on me when firing them [emoji853]

use lower wattage. You also need to just pulse the coil. All you want is to warm it first until you get it shaped, then pulse just long enough to see that it is heating evenly from the middle out.

They Broke? Well that's a Bother.

If they Broke when you Dry Burned them, try setting your Mod to a Low Wattage setting like 10 Watts or so. And you Only need to hold down the Power Button long enough to see the Coil start to glow Happy Red.

If you hold down the Power Button until the Coil glows Angry Orange, or until Suicidal Yellow starts to appear, you are Holding it Too Long.

No wonder! I thought I had to really get them glowing to test that they're burning uniformly ! I'm encouraged, thanks!

Dry Burning really does 2 Things.

1 - It Cleans the Coil of any Contaminates like Machine Oils.

2 - It Tells you if the Coil is Heating Properly.

Heating Properly (to Me) is when the Coil Heats from the Center of the Coil First. And works it's way Outward.

So All I really need to see is that the Center of the Coil is turning Red 1st. Once I see this, I Don't really need to go any farther.

Because if I keep going until the Outer Loops of the Coil/Legs is Red, now the Center is Angry Orange. And I am a Split Second away from Suicidal Yellow.

When you get to Suicidal Yellow, you are on the Threshold of a Solid Metallic Alloy becoming a Liquid Metallic Alloy. Or in Lay Terms... "It's Gonna Break."

From now on I will make sure only to check that the center of the coil is firing first. Thanks a mil!

BTW - You can Do all this at 70 Watts if you Want. But it all happens in about 90 Milliseconds.

Whereas if you do it at 7 or 10 Watts, it happens Slowly. So you have Time to Calmly say... "Ok. That looks Fine."

I also like to Cup my Hand around the Deck when I Dry Burn much like the way you would Cup your Hand around a Match in the Wind.

The Hand Cupping put everything in Shadows. So it is Easy to see the Coil starting to get Red.

    Hey No Problem ChelsB.

And if for Some Reason the Coil Isn't getting Red from the Center 1st, check to make sure the Coil Loops are Evenly Spaced. Or Evenly Touching.

And with you Hand OFF the Power Button, "Pring" the Coil with the Tip of a Little Blue Screwdriver a Few Time. Then check it again.

So far I've only built very closely spaced coils is there an advantage to large-spaced coils?

It's Kinda Subjective. Some Like Closely or Touching Coils. Others like Larger Spacing.

But that's the Cool thing about Doing your Own Coils. You can Try Both and see what You like Best.

The Key (I think) is that no matter what type of Spacing you do, that it is an Even Spacing. So No Big Gap here and these Two Loops touching there.

Nice and Even = Even Heating.
