Whenever I pull out my 100mah Kgo or am vaping it at a stoplight, the heads turn especially when I have the tank attached. They tend to think I’m smoking "something else". When I pull out my cigarette looking 801 nobody seems to give it a second glance.

That's because people know that people use other things in their cars and that they smoke cigarettes in their cars. In a restaurant, store or bar, it's a different story. There they are going to be pretty sure you aren't using an illicit substance and they are going to think you're smoking when you use a device that makes it look like you're smoking. In many cases they will complain to the management. If you have any consideration for the establishment, you'll do what you can to avoid the appearance of smoking. It's better for everyone including you and those that follow you.

Originally I was a pack a day Marlboro lights smoker, I've used Njoy which was terrible, then I got Kgo 1100mah with atomizers and it is everything I dreamed of, I only take a 3 second hit it's so strong and last 3 days a charge to give you an idea of my smoking habits.

I want something a little more portable and less crack pipe looking since I spend a lot of time in public, maybe the size of a Njoy but with a good hit that will last me about 8hrs at least (the njoy only lasted about 3hrs on a full charge)

I was also a pack a day Marlboro Lights smoker..... Why do you want a small e-cig? Go BIG my freind....
I use a Provari with Genuine Joye SR 510 attys, unflavored 100% VG 30mg..... If I didnt know any better Id swear I was smoking a Marlbore Light that taste clean.

My experience has been quite different than yours regarding the “strange or nasty looks” comment.

I am in and out of courthouses (state, federal and county) every week and go through the security checks with my Darwin. I've never been stopped. In fact, more law enforcement personnel ask me where they can get one more than any other sub-group.

With all the people using APV's you rarely read of any hassles due to how they look on ECF. In fact, you read more posts where people get positive comments due to it not looking like a cigarette. It could lead one to believe that some people are more concerned about appearance than others. I really don't know other than my experience has been far more positive the more my PV does not look like the real thing.

I was just like you about the vaping in public. So Im gonna give you an idea that is a bit outside the box. What I did was got myself an epipe. Honestly, I never got along with the tube mods or anything thicker and bigger than a cig. I also broke in with the Kgo but really felt comfortable and had most of my success with the epipe. It just fits the hand so naturally and seems to attract NO attention in public. Ive vaped right next to people that I know and dont know and nobody ever says a word.

I get my pipes at epipemods but you can also get the jazz carto pipe or sunpipe or even that ego Echo/kuwako for super cheap. Just thought Id throw out an idea just in case it interests you. Your post resonated with me as very familiar to how I felt initially so thought Id post up.

One thing I like my 801 for is driving. It is just more comfortable to hold in my hand than those other devices.

I say to each his own, if you feel more comfortable brandishing one device over another….go for it.

Ever seen those insulated can covers? Do you feel uncomfortable using one with your soda can because people will think your drinking "something else".

It's best not to presume what other people think. Cops know full well what e-cigs are, so that's not even an issue. When other people see you, they don't know what to think. So what? What are they going to do? Track you down and shoot you? All they ever need to do is see another one or two PVs like yours and they'll figure out that it isn't some sudden alien drug epidemic. The idea that a PV looks like a crack pipe is just silly. If crackheads had a PV, they'd sell it, buy more crack and smoke it out of broken off car antenna. I don't know who started that crack pipe meme, but they need to be slapped upside the head.

I don't know sailorman. The OP is obviously part of the new breed of vapers who are getting 3 days of battery life out of the Kgo. Thus, he should be able to get 2 days of battery life out of the mini-Volt or a mini-510 that us old guys where never able to figure out how to do.

I have noticed what seems like an increase in the number of people who say they smoke 5 cigarettes a day or something. I guess if you take 5 sessions of 6 puffs or so a day, you can make a kgo last 3 days. I don't know how in world you would quit a cigarette habit that way, but whatever... We should look for a pattern in their locations. Maybe there's some geophysical phenomenon happening somewhere that is negating the laws of physics. Maybe the poles are switching or something.

I think you are thinking about yourself and how you feel and not really thinking about others. I dont know about the OP but some people are not social butterfly's. Some people dont feel comfortable in public with nothing in their hands. Im kinda one of them. A bit of a recluse. The idea of someone staring at me can start a panic attack. There is every level in between that needs to be considered here. Some with just mild social issues to extreme ones. If someone says they dont want to attract any attention then thats what they feel and nobody's feelings should be minimized no matter if anyone else understands them or not. So I think it is not an applicable statement to just tell someone who cares what others think because some of us really do care what others think and it can be really stressful.

You're right. I hereby modify my statement to be directed only to people with no mental health issues. If you believe you know what other people are thinking and it bothers you, then modify your behavior accordingly. Good luck with that. It might also be a good idea to tint your car windows as dark as is legally permissible.

I'm thinking that either stealth vaping is being done in public and even WE haven't noticed it (not likely) or not that many people do it. We have millions of vapers in this country and 313 million people total. That ... wait for me to calculate ... That's about 1% if you estimate vapers at 3 million.

1 out of 100 people vape. 22 out of 100 smoke. How many do you see smoking in public? How many feel the need to vape in public? We need recruitment for vaping!

I'm a stealth vaper, but I've never met another vaper in a restaurant or seen one in a store. When someone does comment about my ecig, it's, "Is that one of those electronic cigarettes? Aren't you afraid it will blow up? Does it really contain anti-freeze?"

Public education will only occur when the numbers of vapers rise tenfold. We need to convert the 22 out of 100 that are still smoking.

I'm lucky to have had only non-negative experiences with vaping in public, but I agree that most people seem genuinely curious about my PV and, in most cases, they are strikingly misinformed about them. At the same time, they are surprisingly (for me) receptive and overjoyed by the facts about vaping. It seems everyone I meet either smokes, or has a close relative or friend who smokes, and they are all truly hopeful vaping might help kick that habit.

I'm not saying everyone should take this upon themselves as a their life mission or anything, but my feeling is it's good karma to expose your PV and vaping habit.

Anyway, I'd like to remind everyone that the brain is a pattern finding machine. When we feed it an unrecognized piece of reality, it has a tendency to re-mold it into a previously learned patter; this can, at times, go as far as altering perception altogether. This is why I don't discount that some people (especially highly sheltered middle-to-high class citizens) might imagine nasty things when they see one PV or another. But in my experience, people misidentify these objects in the most unexpected ways.

Some of my favorites are: 'walkie-talkie' for my Reo Grand with a canon drip tip; "something for your teeth?" about my ProVari with a regular carto; "glue gun" (!??????) for my KGO with a carto-tank; "one of those e-cigarettes?" for my laser pointer and so forth :)

I've seen both V2 and smokeless image mentioned, so I thought I'd give my opinion on these two options since I've had them both. I noticed no difference between the two of them in regards to performance, battery life, etc. I did prefer the button on the V2 manuals because the Volt seems to be slightly recessed. However, the smokeless image automatic batteries are better than V2s because they are sealed and less likely to get juice into the battery. Smokeless image also had a better selection of colors, but most importantly to me, they had far better prices. Although I had no issues with V2 in regards to customer service, I have heard other people complain about it, and I've never seen any complaints about the customer service at Smokeless Image. For those reasons, I'd recommend smokeless image over V2.

Welcome, David Renderos!

Well, you've certainly had quite a few responses and many which have taken on the debate of "mini" vs "mid" vs "mod." You have a lot to sift through, but go with what you really want to start, and any "you will regret" or "skip this and go to that" comments should be stricken from your research. The idea of making it bad for anyone else because you choose a small battery is bunk - in my opinion. My personal experience has been that most folks wanting to quit smoking want to start simple and familiar. If too much is thrown at them at once before they even start, well they might not even start to look at vaping as an alternative. So, take a look at the actual items recommended and see if that is something you want to consider, be sure to look at the other forums here for information before making a final decision. Make the decision right for you and not someone else, including me.

The only thing I can say about a small, regular cigarette look battery is that you will not find one that lasts for an 8 hour charge unless you are a light vaper. The batteries are just not large enough for that long of a charge with steady vaping. For more realistic vaping in the wake of cigarette smoking, the small batteries, depending on brand and vaping style, can last up to 4 hours with light vaping. By light vaping, I mean picking it up for a short time, and putting it down again for a long period of time, as one might do while working where smoking is not allowed at your desk or inside, etc. A pcc (personal charging case) with an extra battery is the way to go if sticking with smaller batteries. A pcc does not have to be anything cumbersome. There are other charging options as well, car chargers, usb chargers, etc. Have a couple of batteries and a charging method of some kind, and the small batteries work just fine.

That aside, if you decide to stay with the idea of a "mini" or the batteries that most replicate the look of a "regular" cigarette, I will also recommend the Volt from Smokeless Image. The Volt batteries do seem to last a little longer for the "average" vaper, at least they do for me. I'd tried four other brands before settling with the Volt. I do have a Volt v2 mega pcc I carry with me in my bag or the car, and I also have a car charger. I carry my batteries in the pcc and I carry a case also available from Smokeless Image that holds four batteries, carts, and a usb charger. I don't lack for charging options when I need them, but with at least two batteries with me, I really don't find myself "out" when I'm at work or out and about. I charge my batteries when I get home, usually. The 65mm will last me about 2 hours of steady vaping, the 78mm a little longer. With occasional work vaping, vaping in times when I would have smoked had I not switched, the batteries never run out on me. I was a pack a day smoker. My heaviest use was (for cigarettes) and is (for vaping) at home.

I use both the 65mm battery (the look closer to a 100's style cigarette), and the slightly longer 78mm battery. I have them in every color available (and there are a lot of colors), and I've only received curiosity questions about the batteries in public, never someone asking if it was for "something else." The colors seem to invite the curious to ask more if the electronic cigarette actually works rather than any diss or scorn. People find the different colors fun, and not distasteful. I can still stick with white or black if I want to be more inconspicuous, and I have "stealth" tips that I can use to hide the LED if I want. I like the color fun and diamond tips, though.

I started with prefilled carts, and still use them from time to time as they can be refilled a few times. I do like several of the flavors available from Smokeless Image, and I've been refilling carts with their liquids as well as buying blank carts for use with other liquids I buy. They all do well.

Now, I also have the Volt "mid" size battery. My 1300 X2 will last me anywhere from 2 to 3 days, depending upon my vaping moods. Though it's hard for me to go less than 2 days with charge, I'm not vaping 24 hours a day either. I certainly have gotten more than my money's worth from the X2 and from all of my batteries. The X2 is about the size of a large cigar, but it does not look like a cigar or cigarette. It does have a sleek look and feel, however. No one will mistake it for a conventional smoking device, but I haven't had anyone think of it as delivering "something else," either. It seems a little extravagant, maybe, to an onlooker, but any place I use it in public is where people already know I've switched from smoking to vaping. I primarily use the X2 at home, for my heavier vaping sessions, and let my regular batteries charge full for the next day.

I enjoy my little 3.7 GLV mini a lot and take it everywhere with me when I want to be stealth mode!

Well said.

Whatever works for YOU is the right choice.
If you like the look, feel and familiarity of a cig style PV, then vape that to your heart's content, if you want the biggest and strangest PV you can find then that's the right thing for you.

There is no right or wrong here, it's what makes you happy and keeps you off the analogs that counts.

For myself, I alternate between my Kgo with cartomizer and drip tip, Kgo with a Vision tank, and my 808 cig-lookalike. I prefer driving with the 808 because it just feels more comfortable in my hand while driving, and is so easy to pocket, I always have one in my pocket along with a 650mah Kgo. That's what works for me, what works for you may be something entirely different.

Well, I don't know about how long one of these little things will last you but I can go a 12 hour shift stealth vaping at work with mine. I'm talking about the SD Keychain by Trogg. Welcome to Clouds Of Vapor and ElectronicStix.Com Your Premier Vaping Vendor Since 2008 sells them. Not a bad little PV for $20.

The SD Key Ring here >>> SD 510 Keyring Mod - $20.99 : Stormys Vapor Cellar, Electronic Cigarettes & More is a great little device for stealth vaping. They are the tiniest little devices I've ever used and they are incredible. I bought three of them from a Mother's Day weekend sale to use at my desk at work. Funny thing is, I find myself reaching for the SD Key Ring even when I'm at home with my ProVari and Buzz Pro. I'm using several different cartos on them as well. Including the shorty 1.7 cartos for a really good hit as well as an XL 2.0 carto in a SmokeTek 3.5 ml tank with a shorty drip tip that makes it a very badazz looking unit. They sell for $20.99 and come with 2 cartos and a usb charger. Stormy's is having another sale this weekend. Same deal. 10% off and free shipping. You can get three of them for about $58.00 shipped! These would get just about any vaper through the day. Beware that they are automatic batts so direct dripping is not an option. It's too easy for the liquid to get into the battery which could ruin it. But it's great for people who would like to have an inconspicuous alternative to using a big mod in public.
