I don't know the diff between hip hop and rap, they both sound like crap to me. Dang, I was going to avoid this response, damn wine. I should hit the sheets. hehehe

35 years ago, I could be heard to say, I'm sure many folks could quote me as saying, "Disco sucks, nothing could be worse" ... then RAP came along and proved me wrong, LOL.

I'm outta here. :) Forgive me.

it's alright, everyone is entitled to their opinions.
this is one of my favorite hip-hop songs
I listened to the song, twice. The lyrics aren't too offensive. I looked them up on Google and read them. Still, don't care for the 'sound' of it. To each their own. You probably don't like my music either. At least the sample you posted doesn't advocate murder or putrefy women. That's what I expect from RAP/Hip Hop. Excuse me while I exit this discussion, and dance around my transistor radio to the sounds of Donna Summer.

Bro, that's Slug? Never heard him rap like that, interesting... I still can't believe that I never heard this track... Props.

And to NCC, you seem to have prejudices against rap music, which is totally understandable from what you may have heard on the radio. I don't know exactly what type of rap you'd like as I don't know you, but I'm pretty sure you could find one that suits your taste. Anyway, here are a few tracks that I really like:
YouTube - Nujabes - luv (sic.) pt 3 [ft.shing02]
YouTube - Atmosphere - Yesterday
YouTube - Can't Relate (Cradle Orchestra Remix)
YouTube - Classified "Quit While You're Ahead" [Official Video]
YouTube - 2pac - Tupac If I Die Tonight

Heh, try me. I listen to a lot of strange things. I'm ok with just about everything except for country and R&B.

Yep, that's sluggo. I love atmosphere, especially the older stuff. Ever heard of FELT? That's slug + murs. They have 3 albums out together.

Can't believe you posted Classified, didn't know anyone ever really heard of him.

Top 5, no order:

Aesop Rock
Atmosphere
Brother Ali
Diverse
P.O.S.

And an old atmosphere track...probably the best one too:

YouTube - Atmosphere - Gods Bathroom Floor

God's Bathroom Floor is a dope track. i only heard A Tribute To Christina Ricci album from Felt, wasn't really feeling it
Yea, it's hit or miss. The second one (tribute to lisa bonet) is the best album. It's not deep at all though, they openly admit that they're just doing it for fun and joking around

Hip Hop can be music (although not generally) and RAP cannot.
RAP stands for Rhythmic African Poetry. Hence it is not music. It also lacks the fundamental elements of music.

Hip Hop is an American phenomenon, created in the Boogie Down Bronx and pretty much took the world by storm. It's pretty wild, young kids living in poverty with nothing to do... create breakdancing??? :D Kinda blows my mind at times. Especially when you watch what the new kids are doing nowadays... doesn't look humanly possible.

I've been listening to Rap music my whole life and into all forms of Hip Hop. I remember rocking BDP and dissing guys that listened to Vanilla Ice when I was listening to the Almighty juice Crew, used to do Graff when I was younger, Got my Bboy on and own three 1200's and a MPC. Haven't used them in awhile though.

I prefer the early 90's sound... Wu-Tang being my favorite group (Check out the Thagbuilt thread in the new Pron section got a Wu-tang Chuck Made) and DJ Premier being my favorite producer. Right now I'm really anticipating Jay Electronica's debut and the best Nerd Rap Album ever is The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox..... that album and Funcrusher Plus were so dope. Too bad DEF JUX couldn't recreate their early success with me....

I do like Aesop Rock though... one of the only guys from the so called nerd rappers that I still follow consistently. None Shall Pass was a really dope album... I like Bring Back Pluto. No disrespect when saying Nerd Rap... i just categorize it that way. Street, Nerd, and Pop. I like it all if it's good....

Hopefully Diddy signs Jay Electronica so he can flood the clear channel radio stations with that 5% Knowledge that used to own the airwaves when I was growing up.

All up in your grill..
bloody knuckles bounce
like a wildcats pounce
my flows glow like radioactive amounts
your remains weighin in at less then an ounce
I came here today to announce
I'm takin back your allowance
you cannot drink from my chalice
you can't stand up to my malice
I just set fire to your palace
I aint got no answers kid go ask alice
mad like a hatter
at my ability to scatter
every color of your rainbow and break it down to gray matter
I slid down that shoot and climbed up that ladder
left you afraid you lost control of your bladder
and while your through the looking glass
I give to you this simple task
of filling up my empty flask
and grabbing me a cheshire mask
Cuz you will never ever see me smile
yeah my style is always nasty and vile
you give an inch and I'm takin a mile
ask me about life you'll be gettin some nihil---- ism
a broken prism
within a system
conform or a reform?
I'd rather blitz em
