Last year I had the same itch. Picked up a used grand already sanded and after a few weeks of running 2 kicks at 8 - 9 watts they definitely came close to frying. Someone (I forget who but it wasn't me) made a little insert called the Kickstand to keep it from moving inside which was just a 3d print on hard plastic. Would have been handy if mine had ever arrived. The kick was great when it was the only cheap route to VW but there are too many other options available now.

here's the file in case anyone else has a kick-in-a-box and a similar itch..
Kickstand

I'm thinking about getting re-reo'd but the grand is so damn big to always carry. Especially wearing dress pants at work. I know will most disagree with me on this...

I know I am late commenting on this, but I have the same grand, black and orange with a kick. I've had it about a month and couldn’t be happier. I like the idea of the consistent vape with the kick along with the battery over drain protection. I used the wire method to ground mine. Wrapped a wire around the ground coil on the kick then loosened the spring mount on the bottom of the grand and cinched the wire underneath that. It has worked flawlessly. I had all sorts of grounding issues with my old mech mod and this kick. In the grand it hasn’t hiccupped once. I vape around 8 ml a day and drain about three 18490 batteries on a 1.6 ohm coil. Whatever you decide, you will be happy with your REO!
