It seems like everyone here is a current or former smoker (like I am). I'm very curious if people are vaping who never smoked, or at least not as a continuing habit, but who now vape.

If you are a never-smoker, do you use any nicotine when you vape? Do you use tobacco flavors?

Just curious if there's any truth to the claims that e-cigs, especially fancy flavors, will attract non-smokers.

(Since nobody has chimed in yet, do any of you even *know* of a never-smoker who now vapes?)

I smoked Cigs on and off for years. I was never 'addicted', but there was a few year stretch where I bought packs of smokes on the regular. The reason I say I wasn't 'addicted', is because I don't even remember "trying to quit". I think I just got a girlfriend who didn't like the smell (nor did I), so I just stopped.

However, I was smoking Black n' Milds everyday for a while leading up to vaping. Those, I may have been more addicted to. It became a habit to light one up on my way to work, on break etc etc. I am sure I could have gone a day or two w/o, but yea, I liked them a lot.

Also, I had just gone on a month long trip and all my buddies were smoking cigs. I started smoking with them and again was buying packs. That's when I picked up vaping and haven't touched a cig or blacky in well over a month.

I started at 12mg when using vv/vw, but now vape 6mg because I primarily drip and feel the nic takes away from the flavor. And yes, Tribeca by Halo and 4YR by Kustom are two of my favorite ADV.-- However to me, the 'tobacco' flavors really do not taste all that tobacco-ey lol. They are much more sweet with hints of nuts and caramel. Marlboro's taste more like an ash tray than sweet, nutty, caramel.

My boyfriend wasn't a smoker but rather used chewing tobacco if that counts. He used vaping to cut back significantly on chewing and will hopefully be off of it all together soon. I was a bit skeptical as to whether vaping would help him with his addiction when he fell in love with my e-cig, but I am pleased with the outcome.

I, personally, tell my friends who aren't nicotine dependent to not bother with vaporizers, but I always suggest if that just HAVE to try it to use 0 nic flavors. I have yet to have any non-smoker friends start vaping, mostly because of the cost behind it.

My story is similar to that of BigCloudz. I quit smoking cigarettes on a regular basis back in the early 2000s, but was smoking Backwoods, Black N' Milds, etc., on a daily basis. Quit those too in 2004, but was still smoking them or cigarettes on the weekends, with a friend who smokes. I have only had one cigarette since February of this year, and it was disgusting. I've had no other tobacco products as well. I vape more than I ever smoked though, because I enjoy it, and can do it in the house, car, and many other places, without the smell of burning tobacco stinking everything up.

There's been more than a couple threads I've seen here in the newbie section started by people who've never smoked, and are now, or wanted to start vaping. It's a pretty small percentage of total vapers though, drop in the bucket I would say, no idea on real numbers.

@ToKu Hello and welcome. :toast:

I am...as u can see from my username lol.

From 2008 to 2013 I would smoke hookah with friends maybe once or twice a month. I liked it (specifically the way it pumped me up and made me kinda care free and put me in the moment), but never felt like smoking on my own ever.

Recently I took over my family's business and so i need to go hard at work or the business may go downhill. I figured the nicotine rush could help in that regard a little bit at work, and so i've been vaping at work 3 times a week. I'm trying to limit it 3 days so i don't become nicotine dependent.

Never analogs but I did smoke a bit of hookah in my time. I picked up vaping as a way to curb that a bit and couldn't be happier! I still bust out the hookah every so often but for the most part I'd say I've got the vape bug.

Same here, never analogs, I got my own hookah one birthday and immediately found out how bad it was for me! I absolutely love vaping and feel so much better about it. I only bring out the hookah when I have a group over.

I ran in to a couple of older folks at a local Friday Fest last weekend who have never, or maybe said that they quit smoking cigarettes a long time ago and that they are using e-juice with 0 nic in it, and they love it, they said they are using some juices with vitamins in it. They saw me vaping my monster Sid with the ProTank 2 and asked me about it. Must be some health kick or something.. Looks like vaping is used for other needs also.

between here and there
They have been maybe a handful of nonsmokers inquire about ecigs throughout the 3 plus years I have been here. If they are not addicted to nic then I strongly encourage them not to start it. Since smoking is an all emcompassing addiction, meaning not only physical, but emotional, social, etc., I see no reason for these people to start vaping nic. And if they insist, then zero nic is my answer. But no encouragement. Many of us have really struggled with the horrible addition for years and would never recommend smoking or vaping to anyone. Imitation may be the greatest form of flattery, but not in these cases.

Yeah, I think the FDA reports are biased due to obvious reasons. I would be surprise if they even did a single survey. I myself used to smoke cigarettes on and off for years, I did however get into ecigs a couple years ago but the products I was using were not very practical, as the batteries died every 40 minutes or so and I just gave up on it and went back to smokes. Then a couple months back everybody at the office pretty much switched to ego devices over night. I then got myself a kit, and have started to get serious. I have a half dozen mods and am building my own coils. Its fun, but it is more expensive than I thought it would be, mostly because it has become a hobby
