There's nothing inherently wrong with them. They're great.....until they break down (which will eventually happen with anything that's not all mechanical) then Rob no longer works on them except to convert them to mechanicals. He didn't make the vv chips, and he doesn't work on them or replace them.

I have a couple that are still working fine.

I actually prefer the mechanicals because I find it is just as easy to tune in my vape by adjusting the resistance by wrapping different coils as it is to adjust the voltage. And....I like using 18650 batteries better than stacking two 18350s.

So, that's the deal on the VV Grands.

I dunno. Rob said - I think - he discontinued them because of inconsistent problems with the NotCigs chips he was using in them. Whatever the problems were it was enough to convince him to drop making them.

Personally? I've had two of them for over a year and have never had a problem. Not all of the conversions are being done because the VV chip quit working either - keep in mind you have a 12 watt limit with a VV Grand. The PDF info sheet for them is still up in the instructions/manuals on the Reosmods web site.

We have a couple in the house - the wife uses them. They're not for extreme vaping at all, but if you like a nice mellow single coil in the higher ohm range and want some regulation, they're nice.

There were two (at least?) different buttons used during their manufacture, and some have said the original button was something that also went bad with the VVG's. We have one of each - both work great.

Since the wife is more comfortable with a regulated mod, I would prolly send them to Rob to be mech converted should they break down, after which I would fit kicks in them.

If you're comfortable with "modern day" grands and such, I'm not sure a VVG would up your vape game, but then there's the 'piece of REO history' aspect - when these are gone, they're gone forever.

Mine has what is termed the "original recessed" button I believe. Might be all that's wrong with it, I've still never bothered to troubleshoot it with more Reos than I can use.

Exactly why mine will most likely not be modded to a mech, at least not as long as I own it.

I have two, both are about two years old. Cannot get wet, so they stay indoors. Because of the 'chip set' inside, I doubt they would take the beating that my Grands receive nearly daily at work. Mine are for at-home vaping only. The 6ml bottle might last a week or more in either one of them. For that kind of usage, they work just fine. But not an all-day, everyday device.

I've sent mine into the shop as recently as within the year and rob replaced the original button. Only problem he found. He at that time told me he has enough chips to replace and continue to support them. Just not adding to the pool of existing VV's. He also added the newer style brass catch cup to accommodate igo-s's. Very cool mod
