I've been trying to help my kid's friend stay off cigarettes. He's of age before you call the social workers :) Got him an mvp+rda, built him a coil. He broke the mvp in two months. That did get him off analogs, though, and he got himself another mvp. He broke the charging port in a month. Then he got himself an istick. He dropped it, and broke the charging port. I lent him my m-16 to tide him over. He should be safe (pray) as I know the tank is safe, the battery is good, the mod is solid. I don't want to suggest long-term mech use as this kid doesn't live with me, which means I can't watch him, and I don't want any accidents on my conscience. He can't afford a Provari, which would be the obvious choice. I use mechs, so I'm not familiar with regulated mods.

He would like to know if there's such a thing as an affordable, reliable regulated mod out there.

Sigelei Zmax V2. Sigelei Zmax V3 or V5 if he has enough mechanical sympathy to avoid overtightening the telescopic battery tube.

The stainless steel V3 and V5 are stronger and heavier than most APVs due to the double thickness telescopic tube. They are also shorter than most tube APVs. You will also need to buy him some quality batteries and a battery charger because like the Provari, these rigs use replaceable cylindrical batteries and have no charging port to break.

Perhaps you could get him a job so he can buy his own? Lol.

Anyways, the MVP is built like a tank so if he breaks that, he will break anything. But my next mod is the iPV Mini if that's of any help. It's certainly affordable. It's made of aluminum but as for durability, I don't yet have a clue.

@Oberon @Yzer, Thank you!

I bought him his first mvp, but the ones after that he got himself. I've been taking care of his coils, but he's been buying his own juice. Anyhow, he'd be buying it himself! I might lend him a battery or two, however :)

Sigelei V3 and V5 sound like good choices. I shall recommend. Teen boys are rough on things. My son's younger and smaller, but when he approaches breakable objects, I shudder.

Get a mech that has room for a kick; and put a kick in it.
like a chiyou.

Hm. He likes mechs. I'd give him a battery, so he'd need to buy the mod, the kick, an extra battery, and a charger. The advantage over the Z-Max would be that if if he somehow manages to destroy that set up, too, I could help him fix it.

A Nemmy would be good. Chiyou, too.

OK, so I have some options for him. lol he should just join this forum and ask himself.

I have a Kamry k103 kit that I had bought from ebay. Its a 18350 mech but comes with the saftey fuse and cant be used without. For about $40 it came in a kit with mod, 2 batteries, a charger and a tank. The tank broke within a week or so but the battery tube is solid and fairly indestructable with this he could only break the tanks which are much cheaper to replace.

I have a chiyou, a zmax, and a vamo, and can confirm they all use m21x1 threading.
The nemesis I believe uses a relatively uncommon threading: m20x0.5 or something;

I think the king and maybe the stingray also use m21x1 thread;

anyway, the point is, if one gets a few m21x1 tubes, and a few m21x1 topcaps and bottom caps or bottom switches, one can just put together a mod out of the bits and pieces, and it's virtually indestructable with spare parts available.

Spare parts are good, though I don't believe he can afford more than a single mod+charger+battery atm. It's something to consider for the future. I'm worried about the charger--it's the kind of thing he'd destroy. The kick would keep him from using the battery to death, so that's a plus.

Also, at some point, he'll have to take care of his own vaping issues!

Evic Easy head...buy the head. These usually sell for $15-20 (which is still a good deal). On sale here.

JoyeTech eVic Easy Head

Add a tube and a battery. Any Evic or Sid tube for 18350 or 18650 will fit.

Can be charged with a simple evic charging cable...or any lithium battery charger.

That's neat; I wonder what threading it works with?
for $1.99 can't go wrong.

Came across this on fasttech:

No, he's asking about the other end, that screws onto the tube. Curious about that myself, but bought a couple anyway....

Yes; we know it works with the evic threading but nobody knows off the top of the head what the evic threading is except of course - joyetech;

maybe it is m21x1 in which case I could probably use it with my vamo/chiyou parts;
or maybe it's using m20x1 threading which means maybe it can work with nemesis or some other mods
