I'm getting ready to change out chips in my Cloupor box mod this weekend and was wondering if anyone has any good tips for removing the hotglue and epoxy. I'm sure I can muddle through, but if there are better ways to do it I would appreciate all tips and tricks. I figure it's much better to ask before starting than wondering halfway through if it could have been done better/easier.

Thanks for the replies. I found an easy method, just use a chisel blade on an exacto knife and heat it for a couple seconds with a torch, then just scoop up the epoxy or hot glue (like shoveling snow) and it's gone. It takes no pressure at all on the blade, so if you're careful it won't even leave a mark. I did have to heat the blade multiple times, but it only take about 2 to 3 seconds so no big deal. It is easy to remove just the areas you want this way and leave the areas you don't want to remove like around the tactile buttons. Finish with a little spray brake cleaner on a paper towel to remove any remaining residue and the interior is clean, pristine, and ready for new component installation.

Using this method I didn't damage the existing board, screen, or USB charging board. Not that I intend to reuse them, but just wanted to see if I could remove everything without damage in case I need to do this in the future.

An easier way to remove hot glue is to use isopropyl alcohol.Take a qtip dipped in the alcohol and rub it on the edges of the glue and it will peel right off.

Good to know Stephen. I will try that method next time. Does that also work for epoxy, or just for the hot glue?

Thanks for the tip.
